Japan seeks to scrap law that bans it from having an army

April 27, 2006 - Japan's ruling party unveiled plans yesterday to revise its constitutional commitment to pacifism and allow the country to establish armed forces "for self defense".

The proposals would end Japan's renunciation of the right to maintain an army, as enshrined in the constitution imposed by America after the Second World War.

Japan Also Rises

April 27, 2006 - Lies, damned lies, and statistics." Mark Twain's famous quip is both true and indicative of how dangerous it is to rely on simple statistics when gauging complex topics. To wit: Japan's pacifist constitution includes a strict prohibition on the creation of a regular army, as well as spending more than 1 percent of GDP on the military. Yet 1 percent of Japan's GDP is enough to rank it fourth in world military spending, with only the United States, China, and France ahead on the list.

Comments:  These two articles, one current and one from last November, illustrate Japan’s desire for a return to military power.  Once their desires have been met, sometime in the near future, they will become one of the “Kings of the East”, as foretold in the Book of Revelation.

Many wonder how any Asian army can possibly contain 200 million members, as well move this number of soldiers into the Middle East, for the Battle of Armageddon.  Most likely it will not be China alone.  North and South Korea, the Southeast Asian countries, and of course, Japan will be involved.

Japan’s constitution (created by the USA) forbids them to be armed for war.  Under the current guise of helping with the “war on terror”, Japan is actively seeking a stronger military presence.  As their help is needed, they will be allowed more military strength.  At some point, they will be absorbed into the Asian sphere of the one-world government.

Rev 9:16

And the number of the army of the horsemen [were] two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

Rev 16:12

And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.

Abbas calls for immediate world conference on Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Source: ynetnews.com

April 27, 2006 -- During Oslo visit, PA chairman says international group should serve as broker for direct negotiations between Palestinians, Israel

Ronny Sofer

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said Wednesday that an international conference should be called immediately for direct negotiations between the Palestinians and Israel.

Abbas said in a speech in Oslo that an international group should serve as a broker, possibly the so-called "Quartet" Of the United States, the European Union, Russia and the United Nations.

Israeli officials, in the meantime, rejected the call and demanded that before talks are resumed Hamas fulfills the three conditions it is required to meet.

"An international conference should be summoned immediately, in which direct negotiations take place, on the basis of international U.N. Resolutions and signed agreements," Abbas said through a translator.

Comments:  Past talks between Israel and the Palestinian leadership have not produced the peace treaty many had hoped for.  There’s just too much distrust and animosity between the two warring parties.  Even an outside mediator such as former U.S. President Bill Clinton couldn’t get the job done albeit he was agonizingly close to wringing a deal between the mercurial Yasser Arafat and the normally cautious Ehud Barak.

Now, Arafat’s successor, Mahmoud Abbas believes that an international peace conference will do the trick.  On the surface, it does seem that with more players involved and with international pressure bearing down on both Israel and the Palestinians, especially on Israel, the two groups will be forced to accept whatever the international committee came up with through concensus.  Abbas knows that this kind of conference will favor his people over the Israelis for why else would he even call for one?  He’s a seasoned diplomat; he’s no green behind-the-ear rookie.  He knows the EU, Russia and the U.N. want desperately for a Palestinian State to be created. Even the Americans favor such a nation, but haven’t been pushing Israel too hard for fear of alientating the Israelis.

An international peace conference will be convened perhaps not in the near future, but most likely after the Rapture had occurred when the Antichrist steps in to settle the Israeli-Palestinian conflict once and for all.  It’s not a matter of “if”, but “when” the conflict will be resolved.

Hamas threatens to end truce with Israel

Source: Yahoo News

April 27, 2006 -- Hamas angrily rejected a warning by the moderate Palestinian president Monday that he could dismiss its month-old government, threatening to scrap a truce with Israel if he does.

The public warning heightened tensions between the Islamic militant group and President Mahmoud Abbas, who heads the Fatah Party. Hamas defeated Fatah in January parliamentary elections. Abbas, elected separately, has been trying to trim the powers of the new Cabinet.

In an interview broadcast Monday on CNN-Turk, Abbas said Hamas must recognize Israel and talk peace to avert an economic catastrophe because of Western sanctions.

Comments:  Wasn’t the “truce” violently broken last week when a suicidal bomber took his own life and the lives of eight others in Tel Aviv?  Hamas’s truce isn’t worth the blood document it’s based on.  It’s all rhetoric and nothing of substance and Israel will not rely on any promises bandied about by this avowed terrorist organization that’s bent on Israel’s ultimate destruction.  The so called moderate Palestinian President Abbas is cut from the same terrorist cloth as his predecessor Yasser Arafat.  For the media’s consumption, he appears to be calming factor in an otherwise militant Palestinian camp, but if Israel were to let her guard down for an instant, you can bet Abbas would be gnawing at Israel’s pant legs like a hungry Doberman Pinscher.   You can’t trust the Palestinians at their word no matter if they’re Hamas, Islamic Jihad or the moderate Fatah Party.  If you did, you’re taking a huge risk and it could end up costing your life or worse, the destruction of your country.

Supreme Leader: Iran 'will harm U.S. interests if attacked'

Source: Reuters/CNN.com

April 27, 2006 -- Iran will harm U.S. interests anywhere in the world if the United States launches an attack on the Islamic Republic, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Wednesday.

"The Americans should know that if they assault Iran their interests will be harmed anywhere in the world that is possible," he was quoted as saying by a state television announcer.

"The Iranian nation will respond to any blow with double the intensity," the leader added.

Comments:  For months now, it has been the Iranian president who has thrown down the gantlet and challenged the U.S., Israel and the rest of the free world to a nuclear fight.  It seems like he was daily in the news threatening to do this or do that.  He was Iran’s spokesperson.  Now we are getting the Big Boss in Tehran, the de‑facto real power in Iran, speaking out. He might be the spiritual leader, but he also controls the most important group, i.e. the military.  What he says, goes.  Iran’s president reports directly to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.  He gets his daily morning briefing and then it’s off to meet the press.  If the Big Boss says do this or say that, the president will jump through hoops to obey.  All along, he has been dangling on puppet strings doing Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s bidding.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, like his predecessor, has called the U.S. the Great Satan.  That’s hasn’t endeared the Americans and this public threat won’t win brownie points with the White House corps either.  The U.S. doesn’t take highly to ultimatums.  If it does launch air strikes to take out Iran’s suspected underground nuclear facilities, it will assume all consequences due to the aftermath.  You don’t let your adversary dictate to you the terms of your nation’s security and defense.  You just go ahead and do what is needed and let the chips fall where they may.

Baptists: Plan exit from government schools

Source: World Net Daily

April 27, 2006 -- A group of Baptists activists who two years ago tried to get the Southern Baptist Convention to approve a resolution urging the faithful to pull their children out of government schools announced they are proposing a similar measure this year.

The new resolution, sponsored by Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee member Roger Moran and Dr. Bruce Shortt, urges churches to develop an "exit strategy" for removing their kids from public school.

In a statement announcing the new resolution, Moran said today's public schools have had "a major role in infiltrating and destroying the faith of those we have been commanded to train up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Dr. Al Mohler's call for responsible Southern Baptists to develop an exit strategy from the public schools was not only wise, but courageous, for multitudes of our own people still don't see the inherent dangers. The time has come for the debate to begin."

Comments:  The public school system has been taken over by secular humanists.  This anti‑God system teaches our children man‑centered philosophies which glorify self and place God on the outside.  The Devil’s trademark is stamped on this system that is teaching our kids evolution and the acceptance of homosexuality.  Public prayer and Bible reading and the promotion of the hedonistic lifestyle are humanism’s fruits.

These Baptist Christians are fighting back by attempting to take their children out of the Devil’s lair.  Home schooling would be the alternative where God based principles would be taught to their young folks.  No longer would they be brainwashed by Satan’s poison.  The governments must allow Christian parents to home school without any interference as to the school program, but we all know Satan will galvanize his minions to launch counterattacks against anything that has a Christian label to it.

Romania legalizes witchcraft

Source: novinite.com

April 27, 2006 -- Romania's first official witch was registered Monday after months of negotiations with the government that finally introduced witchcraft as a legal occupation.

31-year-old Gabriela Chukur will stay in history as the country's first legal witch, after she registered a company dealing with "astrology and contacts with the spiritual world", media reported.

Chukur spent quite a lot of time arguing with various officials until she convinced them that witchcraft was a sound area of work. At first everyone laughed at her, but they finally caved in.

Comments:  Past articles relating to this news story are: Germany's spiritual crisis: Many turn to witchcraft; Tax breaks for witch classes; Australia: Witchcraft finally legalized.

The domino effect is taking place as one by one, nations are embracing witchcraft which the Bible clearly condemns (1 Samuel 15:3).  This is not that surprising when you consider that this world is under the strong influence (1 John 5:19) of the Evil One, Satan himself.

Witches used to be hunted down and burned at the stake.  Now a day, they advertise on TV (e.g. Elvira) and unabashedly sell their wares to the public.  Instead of being portrayed as ugly, they resemble movie starlets.  They mingle with the common folks and pose little threat to society.  They soft sell their lifestyle and if you bite, you would be indoctrinated into the hellish practices that not many people have ever witnessed.  Once you’re caught in their net, you are in the Devil’s domain where you would experience the Dark Side, the force that binds you like a steel ball shackled to your ankle.  It’s not harmless by any stretch of the imagination.  People who have rejected Jesus and His offer of salvation have turned to witchcraft and continue their path of rebellion that leads to perdition and the damming of their never ending souls.  Witches and warlocks don’t tell you the whole story.

Galatians 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies.

Citizens' concerns to dominate commission seminar

Source: EU Observer

27 April 2006 -- The European Commission seminar on the future of the EU on Thursday and Friday will focus on citizens' expectations from the union, with the EU constitution not being the main item on the agenda.

Discussions will first tackle the question "how to remobilise the union and construct a positive European agenda" in terms of concrete EU policies, followed by a discussion on "how to make the union into a real global actor."

Time ripe for institutional reform?
After the concrete policy discussions, the debate will move to the institutional sphere, but EU officials said the commission will not necessarily try and define its position in the ongoing debate between member states on the fate of the EU constitution.

Some EU capitals regard the constitution as "dead," while others want to revive the text in its entirety and still other countries are interested in "cherry-picking" elements of the charter.

Comments:  Here is another example of how many people in the EU view the EU constitution, some say its dead, but others want to revive this wounded text. I mentioned yesterday that in order for the EU to survive it needs this EU constitution. It could be possible that this EU head may just be the head that is wounded to death and the deadly wound is healed. Many Christians agree that the European Union is the seventh head. The bottom line is…it only makes sense.

Re 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

Re 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

Benita Ferrero-Waldner European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy Suspension of aid to the Palestinian Authority government

Source: Welcomeurope

27 April 2006 The election victory of Hamas in January presented the EU with an entirely new situation.

We supported the Palestinian elections and respect their outcome. But the heart of the matter is the emergence of a Palestinian Authority whose government is led by members of an organisation included in the EU terrorist list and that continues, to this day, to attempt to justify suicide bombings in Israel.

In January, the Council and the Quartet set out clear principles for continued engagement with the Palestinian Authority. I am the first to regret that the new government has so far refused to renounce violence, recognise the right of Israel to exist or accept existing agreements. These principles are the expression of a commitment to work for peace by peaceful means. They are not new: they have underpinned our cooperation with the Palestinians for many years.

I wish to conclude by stressing our wish to see an evolution of the positions taken by the Palestinian Authority government, not its failure. And in this way to address the contradiction between the positions currently espoused by members of the new Palestinian government (and by Hamas as an organisation) and the EU objective of a negotiated solution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, with Israel living side-by-side and at peace with a future Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.

Comments:  One of the stipulations in the action plans signed with all members of the ENP countries is aid for good Governance. The Palestinian Authority has failed this part of the ENP agreement. Good governance brings more aid to countries that are in desperate need. The Palestinians are in this predicament. You might say that the ENP aid money is blackmail. Either they tow the EU line or the money doesn’t come in.

On another Note: The EU is the main member of the Quartet pushing for Israel to withdraw to the 1967 borders. Israel’s Prime Minister Eddie Olmert seems wiling to tow the EU line. He has declared that Israel will go back those lines.  Israel was also the first country to sign an ENP action plan with the EU.  Israel is towing the line.

Turkey's loss of faith in EU, greater ambitions in Mideast                                                                                                                                                                             Source: Anatolian

26 April 2006 -- The ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party is clearly losing its faith in Turkey's European Union membership process and starting to place much more emphasis on an another line in foreign policy: The Middle East.
The government's recently announced EU reform package, which came about after criticism from the European Commission that the reform process is slowing down, includes no substantial changes and seems to be more of an attempt to save face. While some Turkish bureaucrats are trying to focus attention on the package and further speed up efforts for the EU, things aren't going well either in the screening process, the initial phase of the negotiations, or in the overall reforms.

ARA BASLIK: Imperial ambitions in Mideast

Quite surprisingly as the AK Party loses faith in the EU process this corresponds to a stronger interest and involvement in the Middle East. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's decision to have direct talks with Hamas, his participation in the recent Arab League summit, his Syria policy and criticism of several Western policies towards the region are very recent examples of this.
These steps are confusing to many and raise questions on whether the AK Party is shifting towards an Islamist agenda in its foreign policy and also searching for some new alliances. It's very difficult to find a clear-cut answer to either questions; what's certain is that the AK Party is slowly in search of some new alliances but there can be no alternative to the EU in the Middle East. So what could be behind these moves?
Let me give a brief quote from a 63-page undisclosed working document entitled "The Turkey Project," prepared late 2001 by several influential AK Party ministers and advisors, as a guideline for the policies of the newly founded party:
"Our party believes that Turkey should fill the power vacuum in the Middle East created by the fall of the Ottoman Empire. Turkey has to be become a major intervening actor in the Middle East and the surrounding area. We believe that Turkey cannot solve its bilateral and domestic problems without becoming an imperial power in the Middle East. There's also no other way to bring peace and stability to the region."

Comments:  If you read the April 10th Newsletter I said Every time Turkey gets their hopes up for EU membership, they are always seemed to get put on hold. Turkey has been waiting for membership in the exclusive club for years. One thing that scares EU member states is that if Turkey gets full membership, nothing will stop the flow of Muslim immigrants from other Muslim countries using Turkey as a spring board. There are no EU member countries that are Muslim at this time. Turkey has always had their foot ready in the door and is always on the outside looking in. Sooner or later Turkey will be feed up with all the maybes and jump ship. This is why I believe Turkey will never be a member of the EU club. In the bible it says Turkey whi is Togarmah and will be a member of the Gog and Magog club as they invade the Middle East and come against Israel.”
