Annan: Israel has to Take “Meaningful Steps” to Alleviate Palestinian Suffering
ISTANBUL, April 13, 2006 (WAFA) - United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, said Wednesday Israel has an obligation to take “meaningful steps” to alleviate Palestinian suffering.
In a message delivered by Mohamed Sahnoun, his Special Adviser on Africa, to the meeting of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Istanbul, Annan added Israel must end blockades, stop house demolitions, end extra-judicial killings, curtail arbitrary arrests and halt all colonisations activities.
Annan also urged the OIC to "guide the two sides toward negotiation and compromise."
Comments: If the Palestinians would quit lobbing rockets into Israel, they wouldn’t be suffering from Israeli attacks. If they would spend the resources they now spend on jihad on the welfare of their citizens, Palestinians would not be suffering and foreign aid would not be cut off. And call me crazy, but just as Christians help Christians, shouldn’t Muslims be helping Muslims here? Where are the contributions from Saudi Arabia, one of the richest nations on Earth?
Israel is not responsible for the welfare of the Palestinian people, but the world system will continue to cast the blame on Israel, culminating in the demise of the Gog-Magog alliance, and even then the pressure on Israel will only increase.

Report: Hamas will recognize Israel within 1967 borders
By JPOST.COM STAFF
According to a Thursday report on Al-Jazeera, the Hamas government will recognize Israel if Israel withdraws to the 1967 borders.
Hamas officials close to Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh expect Haniyeh to announce the change in the organization's platform in the next few days, Army Radio reported.
The international community has pressured Hamas since the group assumed power to acknowledge Israel's right to exist. The United States and the European Community have even frozen aid to the PA, with the exception of humanitarian assistance.
Comments: Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Will East Jerusalem be the price of Israel’s pact with the Antichrist? It is looking more and more likely. The problem is that the more land Israel gives up, the more land the Palestinians will want. They will never be satisfied until Israel is only a memory. Of course we know that God will not permit that to happen. I encourage Olmert to stop the appeasement now.
Pope Calls Judas Double-Crosser in Homily
By DANIELA PETROFF, Associated Press Writer
ROME - Pope Benedict XVI Thursday recounted the Biblical betrayal of Jesus by Judas, calling the apostle a double-crosser for whom "money was more important than communion with Jesus, more important than God and his love."
Benedict's traditional depiction of Judas came during his Holy Thursday homily, a week after the release of an ancient Egyptian Coptic text dubbed the "Gospel of Judas," in which Judas is portrayed not as Jesus' betrayer but as his confidant who was doing his will by handing him over to his enemies to be crucified.
Comments: Matthew 26:14-16 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
Judas was the greatest betrayer in the history of the human race and the so-called “Gospel of Judas” does nothing to change that. Judas sold out our Lord for the equivalent of 120 days wages for a common laborer[1], a paltry sum. Mar 8:36-37 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

World’s criticism mounts over Iran
Source: Reuters
April 13, 2006 -- The world's leading powers, including Russia and China, joined to condemn Iran on Wednesday for advancing its atomic program in defiance of the United Nations, but Moscow said force could not resolve the dispute.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared on Tuesday that Iran had produced its first batch of enriched uranium and would now press ahead with industrial-scale enrichment.
His announcement kept Tehran on a collision course with the United Nations and with Western countries convinced Iran seeks atomic arms, not just fuel for power stations as it insists.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the U.N. Security Council, which last month told Tehran to halt all enrichment work, would need to take up the issue again.
When the council reconvenes, Rice said, it should take "strong steps to make certain (to) maintain the credibility of the international community".
She did not say what those steps might be, but her spokesman, Sean McCormack, said they would be stronger than the presidential statement already issued by the Security Council.
Asked about the possibility of sanctions on Iran, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said: "That's a possibility as well, that's one option that's available."
Russia and China, key players on the Iran issue with veto rights at the Security Council, have hitherto opposed sanctions.
Comments: International politics is intriguing. In between lavish dinners, stays at the world’s most posh hotels and fancy parties, diplomats get to fling mud back and forth between each other. For the public consumption, alpha male chest thumping is exhibited, but behind the scenes, they’re all pals who enjoy a pint or two.
This Iran nuclear row is growing tiresome even for the most seasoned diplomat. On the one side, you have the Western nations (including the U.S. and Israel) and the U.N. forming a tag team while opposing them are Russia and China. Israel had threatened to take out Iran suspected nuclear facilities prior to April 2006 and the U.S. vowed to do something similar in 2007. Then there are the experts who said Iran won’t have nukes for another 5 years yet. Who can you believe? Conflicting positions for sure. The people crying wolf or those who are calling for a cooling of the heated rhetoric? Makes you wonder the effectiveness of the various intelligence agencies. Meanwhile, pass the pates de foie and caviar. There’s no point in not partying, is there? Iran won’t be nuking anyone soon so eat, drink and be merry, all at the taxpayers’ expense. Meet you all at the Cococabaña where you’ll mingle with the likes of Condi Rice, Kofi Annan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, EU’s Javier Solana and perhaps even Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhao Xing doing the Macarena (now that would be a sight to behold!).

U.S. says China can greatly cut airline fuel use
Source: Reuters
April 13, 2006 -- China could greatly improve its airlines' fuel efficiency by learning from the U.S. experience in introducing more flexible air traffic management, a senior U.S. aviation official said on Wednesday.
Robert Sturgell, deputy administrator of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, outlined initiatives that had saved U.S. airlines millions of dollars in fuel bills, including introducing greater flexibility between civil and military airspace.
He also cited satellite navigation systems that allowed for more direct routes and an air traffic management system that permitted more high-altitude flights as advances from which China could benefit.
Sturgell's remarks, given at a news conference, followed meetings with Chinese aviation officials on Tuesday, during which he encouraged them to explore innovations in air traffic management that could effect great fuel savings.
The U.S. Department of Transportation had set a goal of cutting the fuel burned in each kilometre (mile) of flight by 1 percent a year through to 2009, which would save U.S. airlines around $2 billion in annual fuel costs, Sturgell said.
Comments: The Chinese are oil thirsty people. They consume petrol like Pierre Cardin quenches Perrier water. The more oil China wastes, the more polluted this planet becomes. For a population of slightly over 1 billion, high use of oil would increase carbon dioxide emissions that would make Earth become like Venus is presently, a veritable greenhouse hothouse. Can you imagine the pollution effects of more Chinese trading in their clean bicycles for diesel cars and trucks? Or the Chinese continuing to fly their commercial aircraft with leaking oil tanks? Waste not want not was a popular saying when I was growing up as a boy in the 1960s.
For a people who pride themselves on logic and efficiency, this wasting of fossil fuel is hard to figure out. Could it be that China is getting really cheap oil from Sudan and Iran so that efficiency is not an issue? Could China be buying oil at $30 per barrel or less? That could explain why they’re paying their workers about 50 cents per day. Low overhead, high profits. The rest of the world seethes as they see China taking a cavalier approach to fuel efficiency. Those nations that have the oil can well afford to spill a barrel or two, but for those who are held hostage by Arab/Venezuelan/Mexican ideologies, they can ill afford not to conserve.
During the Tribulation Period, oil will be a very valuable commodity as supplies will be scarce.
Revelation 6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

April 13, 2006 -- It's yuppie-hunting season on 125th Street in Harlem. Teen wolf packs have been systematically preying on people in the gentrifying neighborhood, police sources said yesterday, as four young punks were charged with murder for a mugging gone awry.
The teens, charged as adults, face up to nine years to life behind bars for allegedly acting with depraved indifference in causing the death of New York University student Broderick John Hehman, 20.
Theirs are the first high-profile arrests in a new crime pattern that's shaken the on-the-rise neighborhood.
Sources said local teens, typically ages 13 to 15, linger along 125th Street, scoping out potential mugging victims, then moving in to surround and attack.
The kids target well-dressed students, tourists or commuters, preferring those who are alone and talking on cellphones as they climb out of the Metro-North and subway stations at Lexington Avenue and Malcolm X Boulevard, sources said.
They're after cellphones, small electronics and wallets.
The sources said cops arrest groups of kids for these coordinated sidewalk muggings a couple times a month.
"The larger kids will grab or punch you, maybe throw you to the ground," said one cop from the area. "Then the little ones go through your pockets."
Comments: This Harlem crime phenomenon is a foreshadow of things to come. Immediately after the occurrence of the Rapture, roving gangs of unrestrained vigilantes will roam the streets and smash the barred windows and doors of commercial establishments (in order to plunder) and residential homes and ransacking everything they can get a hold on. Home invasions, street muggings and knifings, and gang wars will envelope America, Canada and the rest of the once civilized world. Utter mayhem will ensue from the utter panic resulting form the disappearance of millions of inhabitants from Earth. The relative calm of today will be replaced by sheer anarchy.
For many of these young Harlem hooligans, they have never read the Bible and most have never heard of the 10 Commandments and Jesus being the Savior for sinners. Their life is all about committing crime to ease their idleness (unemployed) and emptiness. They come from broken homes or single-parent households. The mean street alleys are their home. They prey on unwary victims who wear expensive clothes and sport fancy electronic gadgets. They’re like Robin Hood but with a twist; robbing the rich to feed their drug habit.
The restraining power of the Church and Holy Spirit is what’s keeping the inhabitants of this sin stricken world from tearing each other to shreds. Humanism’s assertion that we’re all basically animals will be put to the supreme test when the Rapture event unleashes the basic carnal instincts within mankind. Lawlessness is on the rise worldwide because the Devil is the author of evil.
2 Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Chad confronts rebels in capital
Source: BBC News
13 April 2006 --Heavy fighting has subsided in Chad's capital after breaking out at dawn, between government troops and rebels trying to overthrow the president.
A BBC correspondent in N'Djamena said gunfire and shelling began at dawn and lasted for some two hours. Speaking on the radio, President Idriss Deby said government forces had destroyed a small rebel column that attempted to enter the capital.Speaking on the radio, President Idriss Deby said government forces had destroyed a small rebel column that attempted to enter the capital. He said that government troops were in "complete control" of N'Djamena. Only sporadic gunfire could be heard around the capital following his announcement.
Comments: One reason for a possible conflict in Chad is that it is an oil rich region. Another is that it has been inundated with refugees that have fled Sudan from the Darfur region. The fighting in Sudan has destabilized Chad and a possible conflict is the result. . It would be another tragedy if Chad falls into anarchy or civil war. Darfur was a tragedy and the international community should have done all that it could to prevent the bloodshed before it got started. Let’s hope that Chad does not turn into another Darfur.
Mt 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Olmert: Convergence within 18 months
Source: Jerusalem Post
13 April 2006 --Prime Minister Ehud Olmert says he intends to finalize plans for a large pullout from parts of the West Bank within the next 18 months. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Olmert said the aim of his planned meeting with President Bush next month will be to secure international support for the pullout, including financial assistance. "The State of Israel will change the face of the region," Olmert said of his plan. "I will not miss this opportunity." Olmert rejected the possibility of sharing control of Jerusalem and its main holy sites with a future Palestinian state, though he left open the option that some Arab neighborhoods surrounding the capital could eventually fall under Palestinian sovereignty. "Dividing Jerusalem will not bring peace, only more fighting," he said.
Comments: Olmert’s Convergence plan calls for the withdrawal of 80,000 settlers from Judea and Samaria. This number is 10 times the 8,000 Jewish settlers forced to leave the Gaza strip last year. This is also the biblical heartland of the Jewish people and the next forced withdrawal will be 10 times nastier than what Gaza was. Olmert’s plan will not only change the face of the region it will change Israel forever.
I do believe that Olmert’s plan will somehow cause the rebuilding of the Third Temple. The Palestinians will not want to give up control of East Jerusalem to Israel and Israel (Let’s pray) will not give up their sovereignty over the city. “Within the next 18 months all eyes will be on Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria (The West Bank). God’s covenant land, given to the Jewish people.
Zec 12:2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
Keep watching!
