`Da Vinci Code' Paperback Sales Soar
April 6, 2006 -- NEW YORK - "The Da Vinci Code" is a smash in paperback, too. More than 500,000 copies of Dan Brown's historical thriller sold in its first week of paperback release, and an initial printing of 5 million has been upped to 6 million, publisher Anchor Books told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
Russell Perreault, vice president and director of publicity for Anchor and Vintage Books, paperback imprints of Random House, Inc., said the weekly sales were the highest in memory for a paperback. Anchor/Vintage has issued Bill Clinton's "My Life" and numerous Oprah Winfrey picks, including James Frey's "A Million Little Pieces" and Rohinton Mistry's "A Fine Balance."
Brown's book has already sold more than 40 million copies worldwide in hardcover and continues to sell well three years after publication, helped in part by an endless series of controversies, most recently a copyright lawsuit in London.
Comments: When such obvious blasphemy as this is a best seller, I think that the end can’t be very far away. Just a few years ago this could not have happened. We are a people who have moved far from the Lord, but other than the Rapture intervening, we have one hope:
2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
I know that this Scripture is for Israel, but I believe it also applies here and now. I, of course, know it will not change God’s timetable, but it may protect our country in the meantime.

(IsraelNN.com) The European Union criticized both the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority and Israel on Wednesday.
During a speech to the European Parliament, EU foreign policy head Javier Solana said that Hamas’ political program was “unfortunately unacceptable to the international community.” However, he added, Israel’s freeze on the transfer of customs and tax payments it has collected for the PA was wrong as well.
“This is Palestinian money, which cannot be withheld,” he said.
Comments: Solana, speaking out of both sides of his mouth, sounds a lot like a person whom I first learned about in Hal Lindsey’s The Late Great Planet Earth over 35 years ago. If he’s not going to be the AC, then he’s certainly doing a good job of running for the job. I’m not saying that he is, mind you, I wouldn’t want to accuse anyone of that, and he is certainly a soul in need of a Savior.
Dan 7:13-14 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
This is the only legitimate ruler of Israel. I look forward to the day when He shall rule with a rod of iron. I can look forward to it, because I know that when that day comes, I will be beyond sin and the enemy shall be defeated.

Comments: One of the greatest causes of distress in the world right now is the onset of new and/or incurable diseases. Late in the last century, doctors and scientists were thrilled to announce new vaccines and treatments. Many even proclaimed that infectious diseases would be eliminated altogether and become a thing of the past.
Any hopes for the general eradication of disease have been dashed to pieces. As soon as there is a vaccine to prevent one, or treatment to cure one, a new plague rears its ugly head and scientists must start all over again. As we know, many diseases, such as AIDS/HIV, still have no cure, despite over 20 years of research.

April 6, 2006 -- Man dying after fall into polluted Ala Wai
A 34-year-old mortgage loan officer is near death with a flesh-eating disease after falling into the polluted waters of the Ala Wai Boat Harbor last week, according to his friends. Friends of Oliver Johnson said his doctors at the Queen's Medical Center diagnosed him with necrotizing fasciitis, a Group A streptococcal infection that "destroys muscles, fat and skin tissue," according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The disease forced the amputation of his left leg above the knee Monday, his friends said. His body also went into Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome, which causes blood pressure to drop rapidly and all major organs to fail, they said.

April 6, 2006 -- Man dies from flesh-destroying disease
Last Tuesday, Ed Kopfman thought he'd come down with the flu. On Friday, he went to the doctor. By Sunday, the 47-year-old Kirkland father of two was taken to Harborview Medical Center and died that same day. For those who knew Kopfman, the cause of death was even more shocking: necrotizing fasciitis, a rare condition also known as "flesh-eating bacteria."

EDINBURGH (Reuters) - Tests have shown a wild Mute swan found dead in a Scottish coastal town had the lethal H5N1 strain of bird flu -- Britain's first case of the disease, a British farmers' group said on Thursday.

April 6, 2006 -- Increase in mumps a concern in region
The number of mumps cases in Douglas County this year has risen to 11, with two University of Kansas students reported ill, health officials said Wednesday. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is investigating whether the Douglas County cases, and two additional cases in Saline and Norton counties, are related to a mumps epidemic sweeping through Iowa. Iowa has reported about 300 cases.

Rich nations seek more workers

April 6, 2006 -- Rich countries have changed their attitude toward would-be immigrants and are adopting or changing laws to allow in skilled and low-skilled workers to meet specific workplace demands, according to a U.N. report released Tuesday.
According to the latest U.N. statistics, the number of international migrants reached 191 million in 2005. One in five of those migrants are in the United States, where Congress is currently engaged in a divisive debate over what to do with the estimated 11 million to 12 million illegal immigrants.
The report said 75 percent of international migrants are concentrated in just 28 countries - with the United States the top destination followed by Russia, Germany, Ukraine and France.
According to Tuesday's report by the U.N. Population Division, given the low fertility levels in developed countries, migration has become a major source of population growth - accounting for three-quarters of growth in 2000-2005.
"If current trends continue, between 2010 and 2030 net migration will likely account for virtually all their growth," the report said.
Many of those governments have had relaxed laws for some migrants since 1990, "especially skilled migrants and temporary low-skilled workers."
Comments: The haves get richer while the have-nots just barely scrape by an existence. We’re not talking about career jobs here, but mostly table scraps that the native citizens supposedly do not want. Human nature being what it is, i.e. pervasive corporate greed, the rich corporations and private owners exploit low skilled workers to further pad their already fat bottom line. While they stuff their faces with lobster and caviar, the peasants pick the leftover gristle off the shank bones.
This is 21st Century slavery {Revelation 18: 13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men} just like the pre‑civil war days of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. The Devil is a hard taskmaster who has the wealthy elites of this world shackling the poor workers. With little hope of buying fancy homes and driving a Porche with their meagre pay, they drudge on daily hoping for a better life. The almighty dollar is what the rich bow down to, but the poor in spirit can seek the unspeakable riches of Heaven which Jesus alone offers.

Professor criticized for overpopulation viewpoint

April 6, 2006 -- Talk radio and blogs are taking aim at a University of Texas biology professor because of a published report suggesting he advocates death for most of the human population as a means of saving the Earth.
"What we really need to do is start thinking about controlling our population before it's too late," he said Monday. "It's already too late, but we're not even thinking about it. We're just mindlessly rushing ahead breeding our brains out."
Pianka, who has gotten vitriolic e-mails and even a death threat, said he believes the Earth would be better off if there were fewer people using up natural resources and destroying habitats.
The Gazette-Enterprise quoted Pianka as saying disease "will control the scourge of humanity. We're looking forward to a huge collapse." It said he weighed the killing power of various diseases such as bird flu and HIV but decided neither would yield the needed results.
"HIV is too slow. It's no good," he said. Pianka said that doesn't mean he wants most humans to die.
Comments: 6.5 billion Earthlings and growing exponentially. This is a very crowded planet, a small planet according to an IBM commercial of a few years back; carpet to carpet full of humanoids all vying for the limited resources. This world cannot possibly sustain unlimited growth and it won’t. God will soon pour out his seal, trumpet and vial judgments upon this Christ rejecting world.
Was Mr. Pianka being prophetic? He may not have read the prophetic scriptures, but his controversial remarks have people in an uproar just like they would have been if he had quote verses from the Book of Revelation. They’re troubled by the notion that this world has too many people, many of them deemed redundant by Mr. Pianka. That hits at their pride. Human beings must multiply, not be euthanized. Mankind seeks to discover the fountain of youth, a life extension elixir, and live forever on Earth. He strives for a Utopian world without God and Jesus, but God has other plans in the immediate future.
Revelation 9:18 By these three was the third part of men killed (2.2 billion minimum), by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

21 Nations seek new U.N. Human Rights Council membership

April 6, 2006 -- Twenty-one countries have declared their candidacy to be members of the new U.N. Human Rights Council including Algeria, Pakistan, Ukraine, Peru, Nicaragua and Switzerland, U.N. officials and diplomats said Monday.
Last month, the assembly voted overwhelmingly to replace the highly politicized and often criticized Human Rights Commission with a new human rights body, ignoring U.S. objections that not enough was done to prevent abusive countries from becoming members. So far, no country considered a serious human rights offender has announced its candidacy.
Comments: Human rights. That’s all you hear these days in the news; people demanding their lawful rights. Many are deluded by the Devil into believing that they’re free to do as they please when if fact, they’re chained to him by their sins. Man is a rebel with his back toward God. “We are the world”, they exclaim with pride. “We will not be restrained.”
The emerging New World Order (NWO) wants to accommodate people’s yearning for more and more rights. People will owe the NWO operatives their gratitude and at the appropriate moment in time when the NWO morphs into the One World Government and its leader the Antichrist, a man of fierce countenance, will cash in his I.O.U. chips and he’ll take away mankind’s hard earned rights.
The NWO’s plan is quite simple; unite the people of the world through the democracy (literally "the common people rule") of religion and civil rights and once they’re in unison, then force servitude on them. The Antichrist’s kingdom will start off with the world embracing this man’s brand of peace and freedom (they’ll think they have finally arrived at Shangri La/Utopia/Heaven on Earth), but at the mid-point of his 7‑year reign, he’ll show his true dictatorial colors by having Earth’s citizens bow down before him in worship. Civil rights then will be but a fleeting memory.

Scientists crack mystery of planet formation

April 6, 2006 -- Scientists think they have solved the mystery of how planets form around a star born in a violent supernova explosion, saying they have detected for the first time a swirling disk of debris from which planets can rise.
The discovery is surprising because the dusty disk orbiting the pulsar, or dead star, resembles the cloud of gas and dust from which Earth emerged.
Scientists say the latest finding should shed light on how planetary systems form.
"It shows that planet formation is really ubiquitous in the universe. It's a very robust process and can happen in all sorts of unexpected environments," said lead researcher Deepto Chakrabarty, an astrophysicist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Scientists have long believed that planets like Earth were formed when dust surrounding a young star began to clump, smashing and fusing into one another.

Millions of dollars go into paying these scientists’ lofty salaries. Millions flushed down the toilet when the truth is staring them in the face if they would only open the Bible, read it and accept God at His Word. God created the universe; accept that at face value. But, unregenerate mankind is a wayward sinful maverick who rejects God and His precepts. Man is unable to understand the things of the Lord. So, the Lord allows him to indulge in his worldly intellect, straying further and further away from God. God laughs at man and rightfully so.
Science tries to explain away God. It’s man’s way of extricating himself from the accountability for his actions and having to stand before God after death. If man can somehow prove that God doesn’t exist and everything can explained from a logical scientific standpoint, then man controls his own destiny and the universe didn’t just come into existence because God willed it. Formulae are formulated to substantiate every action and reaction in the universe. But, who gave man the intelligence to come up with the formulae anyway? In these last days, although there’s much learning and knowledge has skyrocketed, mankind has almost totally rejected all notions of God. God will give up on mankind like He did in the days of Noah just prior to the flood.

Wednesday, April 05, 2006 -- I am appearing before the European Parliament at a critical time for the future of the Middle East peace process, immediately after the forming of a new Palestinian government and the holding of elections in Israel.

The EU does not want on principle to see the Hamas government fail. What we want is for that government, besides respecting the Quartet's three principles, also to apply those of the rule of law, a state based on it and democratic transfer of power, and to maintain the pluralistic nature of Palestinian society. If it does so, Hamas can be regarded as a fully-fledged political entity.
Europe's position
Let me once again state the obvious, that a satisfactory solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has been, is and will remain a key priority for the EU. Now, more than ever, it needs to be stressed that only a negotiated solution can prove stable and lasting. The EU should here continue to press both sides to commit themselves to a negotiated two-state solution. It must be pointed out that, in the EU's contention, peace should be based on observance
of the 1967 borders and only any territorial adjustments agreed to by both sides will be acceptable.

As regards Israel
The EU must continue to reject unilateral measures which may jeopardise the two-state solution.
The EU will keep a very close watch on developments in East Jerusalem and in the Jordan Valley,
Comments: Javier Solana has taken up the lead roll in the Middle East peace process. There is no one else that has spent more time in dealing with the Israeli, Palestinian and the Middle East quagmire than he has.
Come to think of it, he has been promoting peace, stability good governance and the rule of law from Africa, the Balkans, Eastern Europe, and Asia, the Caucasus, the Middle East and any conflict that rears its ugly head in the world. Cartoons included.
There are many things that Christians should be watching in these end times and most importantly is the return of Jesus to take his Church. Jesus told us to watch and what we need to watch are critical indicators. The top of the critical indicators is Israel, but too many Christians are missing the warning signs. 1/3 of the bible is prophecy and it’s a jigsaw puzzle that needs to be placed in order to fit right. If one piece of the puzzle does not fit, the whole picture is out of place. There is a piece falling into place and that is… Israel is in danger of giving away its chief joy and most prized possessions, that being East Jerusalem and the West Bank, divided by an agreement for gain. In a perfect world Christians would never allow this to happen for as we know this land is promised to Israel by God. This article indicates that it is the EU’s contention that Israel will go back to its pre 1967 borders. This is against what God wants.
Both the Israeli’s and Palestinians now have new governments and as this article indicates it is a new era.
Hamas’s new motto may be, “if you can’t beat them join them”, Israel’s motto will be “peace and security”, Javier Solana’s motto is “the rule of law”
So, was it really the EU’s contention?

Finland, Estonia plan EU constitution vote

April 6, 2006 -- Lawmakers in Estonia and Finland, undaunted by rejections in France and the Netherlands, are pushing ahead with referendums on the EU constitution. The EU Observer reports Estonia has scheduled a vote for next month while Finland likely will vote in July.
Last year, French and Dutch voters roundly rejected the document, which lays out rights and responsibilities for members of the European Union and their populations. The treaty has been ratified by 14 countries, but the Czech Republic, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, Poland, Portugal and Britain have either suspended or delayed the ratification effort, the EU Observer said.
Comments: There are many people in the European Union that think the EU constitution is dead. The Euro skeptics and the ones against the EU, danced in the streets after the French and Dutch voted no. It seemed to everyone like the European dream had died and was never going to be resurrected again. It was like a funeral. (Article 1 - European leaders 'wounded') Revelations tells us that the Antichrist will rise up from the sea having seven heads and 10 horns and that one his heads will be wounded to death. So, is the Antichrist going to be walking around with seven heads on his shoulders? Impossible! The bible tells us that these seven heads are (The way I see it) 1. Egypt 2. Assyria 3. Babylon 4. Medo Persia 5. Greece 6. Rome 7. Revived Roman Empire/EU. My guess, is that the head wounded to death is number 7, and the Antichrist will be part of that head. Without a constitution the EU is dead, there is nothing to bring this union together. The constitution is gravely wounded (Article 3 - Denmark postpones referendum on EU Constitution) but in order for the world to be in great wonder of this wounded head beast, it need to be brought back to life again. Remember Rev 17 the antichrist is of the seven and without a constitution his job is dead, possibly the EU Foreign Policy and high representative position.
So, do you think the EU constitution will be revived again? Like the articles above, it’s moving full steam ahead as the world sleeps and the countdown has already started. (Article 2 - So, you thought the European constitution was dead, did you?) It could be back in place before the end of the year, or most of the important parts of the text anyway. People will be in wonder when it is revived. This huge monster called the European Union with 25 members and 17 partner countries is still expanding. Maybe the world should read the scriptures. If they did they would have seen the monster coming too. The same Fourth Beast that Daniel told us about.
Note: I’m not 100% sure that this is the scenario of the head wounded, but I’m watching very close. Make sure to at least read article 2 above.
