McCain Softens Language on Jerry Falwell

WASHINGTON - Potential presidential candidate John McCain says he longer considers evangelist Jerry Falwell to be one of the "agents of intolerance" that he criticized during a previous White House run.

The Republican senator from Arizona will be the commencement speaker in May at Liberty University, the Lynchburg, Va., institution that Falwell founded in 1971.

"We agreed to disagree on certain issues, and we agreed to move forward," McCain said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Comments: He needs to soften his stance. No Republican candidate can be elected without the support of Christian conservatives. He is the Republican most likely to defeat Senator Clinton, and, in my opinion, she must be defeated, even if it costs McCain some pride.

400 Chinese students hospitalized with unknown flu

BEIJING (AFP) - Over 400 students at a university in central China's Henan province were hospitalized with high fevers linked to an unknown flu virus, state press and a school official have said.

The outbreak began on March 26 when 22 students were hospitalized with high fevers, Xinhua news agency said.

The next day the number of sick students at the Henan University of Science and Technology in Luoyang city rose to 88, and on March 28 there were 208 sick students in the university's infirmary, it said.

"There were over 400 students that became feverish with the flu," a university official who declined to be named told AFP when contacted by phone.

He refused to detail what type of flu it was or how the outbreak had succeeded in infecting so many students

Sexy media a siren call to promiscuity?

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Sexually charged music, magazines, TV and movies push youngsters into intercourse at an earlier age, perhaps by acting as kind of virtual peer that tells them everyone else is doing it, a study said Monday.

"This is the first time we've shown that the more kids are exposed to sex in media the earlier they have sex," said Jane Brown of the University of North Carolina, chief author of the report.

Previous research had been limited to television, said the study which looked at 1,017 adolescents when they were aged 12 to 14 and again two years later. They were checked on their exposure during the two years to 264 items -- movies, TV shows, music and magazines -- which were analyzed for their sexual content.

In general it found that the highest exposure levels led to more sexual activity, with white teens in the group 2.2 times more likely to have had intercourse at ages 14 to 16 than similar youngsters who had the least exposure

Comments: Can there be any doubt that the more we expose our children to this sort of thing the earlier they will act upon it? This should be a call to parents and lawmakers to act to protect our kids from this sort of filth. Pro 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

China may approve a visit by the Dalai Lama, as long as he abandons dreams of independence for Tibet, and establish ties with the Vatican if it breaks ties with Taiwan, the top official on religious affairs was quoted on Monday as saying.

The remarks by Ye Xiaowen, director of the cabinet's State Bureau of Religious Affairs, come just weeks before a summit in Washington between Chinese President Hu Jintao and his U.S. counterpart, George W. Bush, a devout Christian who prodded China to allow greater religious freedom when he visited last November.

The Dalai Lama said last month he wanted to go to China to visit Buddhist landmarks and witness the economic progress the Asian powerhouse has made in recent years.

"As long as the Dalai Lama makes clear that he has completely abandoned Tibetan 'independence', it is not impossible for us to consider his visit," Ye told the China Daily, the government's English-language mouthpiece. "We can discuss it."

The Dalai Lama has lived in exile in India since 1959 when he fled after a failed uprising against Communist rule nine years after the takeover of his Himalayan homeland.

China is suspicious of the Dalai Lama, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, who is revered by and rubs shoulders with foreign leaders. Talks between the Dalai Lama's envoys and China resumed in 2002, but have made little substantial progress.

Comments: Atheistic Communist China does not want to be left out in the cold in the coming New World Order. Her one billion inhabitants constitute 1/6 of the world’s population and political and religious isolation from the rest of the world poses a frightening prospect that her leaders must address. These two once firmly entrenched positions (denial of Tibet’s vying for independence and the insistence that the Vatican drops its recognition of Taiwan) may be subject to discussions if all three sides show some flexibility and creativity to forge some consensus for a compromise.

China can no longer take an “our way or the highway” approach to dealing with others. In this day of compromise, anything goes. The Dalai Lama and Pope Benedict XVI have shown themselves to be religious men who will bend their principles for the common good of mankind. They would love to bring China into the One World Religion fold even though Communists do not believe in God. Tibet’s and Taiwan’s desire to divorce themselves from China can easily be addressed by explaining to China that in the emerging One World Government, national borders will be meaningless, only the oneness of mankind will be of utmost importance. China’s leaders have to accept this; there can be no other way.

Mormon church president Gordon B. Hinckley said on Sunday he is in the "sunset of my life" and suffering from some residual health problems after undergoing major surgery earlier this year.

"I am totally in the hands of the Lord," Hinckley said, addressing the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the second day of the faith's twice-yearly conference.

Hinckley, 95, was hospitalized in January after doctors discovered a cancerous growth on his intestine during what was called a routine medical examination. He had surgery and spent nearly a week in the hospital recovering.

Membership in the Mormon church topped 12.5 million members worldwide this year, according to statistics released Saturday. Most of those were expected to participate in the weekend proceedings, which are broadcast in 83 countries in 86 languages.

Comments: The Mormon church is a cult just like the Jehovah Witnesses and the Seventh Day Adventist. They do not recognize the Lord Jesus as the Son of God who only can save sinners from their sins. Many do not recognize the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (as the Mormons are also known) as a Christian church and its leader and members have protested vehemently in the past that it has been improperly portrayed. Gordon B. Hinckley knows his days are numbered; he’s living on borrowed time as God says man’s days are 70 years on average. God’s Word to him is the same as for Israel in the past: Amos 4:12 Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. Yes, he’s totally in the hands of the Lord (but which Lord was he referring to?). If he’s not saved, after he passed onto eternity, will it be:

Gordon B. Hinckley still has time to tell his millions of blind followers that he has been deluded by Satan for decades and that Mormonism does not save and only consigns a soul to Hell. As a final act, he can get up to the pulpit and proclaim that “Only Jesus saves!”. Millions of lives’ eternal destiny hangs in the balance.

As the U.N. Security Council debates how to confront Iran over its nuclear activities, the head of the Arab League called on the world's Arab states to pursue "peaceful" nuclear energy programs.

Amr Moussa, the secretary-general of the 22-nation bloc, said Arab states should "enter into the nuclear club and make use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes with all speed and momentum," according to wire service reports from Khartoum.

Moussa was addressing an Arab League summit in the Sudanese capital, where one of the agenda items was Iran's dispute with the West over its nuclear activities.

The U.S. and its allies suspect Iran is using its nuclear energy program as cover for a drive to develop nuclear weapons; Iran denies this, insisting it's for peaceful purposes, and that Iran has every right as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) to proceed.

The NPT allows non-nuclear weapons states to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, subject to international inspections and safeguards.

Moussa, on a number of occasions, has publicly supported Tehran, saying that the West was employing a double standard by pressuring Iran while turning a blind eye to Israel. (Israel, which has not signed the NPT, is believed to possess nuclear weapons but has never officially confirmed this.)

Comments: Yes, Arabs have all the oil they can possibly need and use. In fact, they are the world’s No. 1 sellers of precious black petroleum, the lifeline of the industrialized world. Having said that, why would they possibly want to go nuclear? Well, oil can’t destroy Israel, but nuclear bombs can. Years of lobbying the U.N. to declare the Mideast region a nuclear‑free zone has been for naught. As long as the U.S. stands by Israel and Israel’s right to defend herself, the Arab world must live with the spectre of Israel’s Samson Option (her nukes) being deployed if Arab/Muslim attackers should dare launch an assault of conventional missiles or swarm Israel with 6 million soldiers as Saddam Hussein tried to muster his Arab brothers in the past. Israel won’t hesitate to exercise the “mutual destruction” option if she truly feels that her existence is at stake and there’s no other way to save herself.

Iran’s snubbing of the world’s community’s demand that Iran stop its ambitious nuclear program is giving other Arab/Muslim nations the idea that if enough countries go nuclear then perhaps the world will finally force Israel to surrender her nukes. If Israel won’t do so unilaterally, the saying goes “If you can’t beat them, join them”. Then there’s that “no honor among Arabs/Muslims”. Arabs/Muslims do not trust each other; if one has nukes, the neighboring countries fear nukes will be most likely used against them rather than against Israel.

The Antichrist in waiting is not at all pleased with more and more countries wanting the “N” bomb. When he takes control of the world, one of his first acts in office will be to demand that all nations bring their stockpile of nuclear weapons to his storage sites for his own personal safekeeping. He won’t want any challenge to his authority.

This news article is further proof that we’re living in the last days before Jesus’s 2nd coming as this planet’s impoverish inhabitants starve and mothers are abandoning the care of their children as a result. If given a choice between one’s life and the life of the one that they’ve brought into the world, mothers are choosing the former. It’s a literal dog eat dog thing; survival of the fittest. This is no different than abortion for which consequences will be meted out, perhaps not in this life, but at the Judgment Seat of Christ or the Great White Throne Judgment.

The famine situation will get exceedingly worse as the 7‑year Tribulation Period progresses. Food for the common folks will be as scarce as hen’s teeth. This planet cannot possibly sustain 6.5 billion people (and growing at an exponential rate). Some things have to give. Unfortunately, the sinful nature of men, women and children dictates survival at all cost. Defenceless little ones, those whom Jesus loves, are being looked after by the Lord; their departure from this world ushers them into Jesus’s presence. Unwanted babies they may be to their mothers, but not to Jesus.

Tuesday April 03, 2006 -- The Association Agreement between Lebanon and the European Union has entered into force on Saturday 1st April. The Association Agreement signed on 17th June 2002, constitutes the new conventional framework of the bilateral collaboration between Lebanon and the European Union. It replaces the Interim Agreement in force since March 1st 2003, which covered the commercial aspects of the Association Agreement and the tariff dismantling process before the entry into force of the AA.

Comments: All that is left for Lebanon is the action plan that will make them a full compliant partner of the European Union in the form of the European Neighborhood Policy/ENP. This is an on going process that will ultimately make full partners out of 10 Mediterranean countries of which Israel is included. Libya and Syria have not signed Association Agreements and must do so in order to get full benefits from the EU. Watch for Libya and Syria in to sign Association Agreements in the near future with the EU.

Tuesday April 03, 2006 -- Following his Monday meeting with Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Meretz-Yahad Party leader Dr. Yossi Beilin stated he feels “encouraged”. Regarding Olmert’s political agenda, Beilin stated the acting prime minister is very serious, adding, “I understood this is his life’s project. I emerged optimistic from the meeting.”

Comments: Yossi Belin is a danger to Israel in that if he had it his way he would make peace with the Palestinians and give away Jerusalem today. If Belin feels encouraged by his visit with Olmert, Israel is in danger. Belin is the leader of the Meretz party and I would suspect he is going to join Ehud Olmert and his Kadima party in a coalition government. Watch to see what position Olmert gives Beilin in the new government. This government could very well be the one that makes a final false peace agreement with the Palestinians, the Arab world and the Antichrist himself.

Tuesday April 03, 2006 -- The European Commission is to recommend in a report in May that Romania and Bulgaria join the EU in January 2007 as planned, according to German daily Die Welt. The commission will urge both countries to make further reforms in order not to miss out on aid cash when joining the bloc, the German paper reported referring to "high-ranking sources in the EU commission."

Individual member states, as well as current EU president, Austrian chancellor Wolfgang Schussel, have already declared their readiness to start ratification procedures as soon as possible after the report comes out.

A final decision on when exactly Romania and Bulgaria will join the bloc rests with EU leaders, expected to deliver their verdict at a summit in June.

Comments: Many bible prophecy students believe that in the last days an Empire will arise that will dominate the world during the 7 years tribulation period. On 1 January 2007 the European Union will have a total of 27 countries who are full members of this union, plus another 16 ENP partner countries. Never before in history has such an empire arisen with so many countries in a political union together. Not only does this EU Empire include all the previous members of the old Roman Empire, This one is larger. This is so large it is a monster, it is the fourth beast, in the form of the the Revived Roman Empire and it has almost arrived!

Tuesday April 03, 2006 --Thunderstorms packing tornadoes and hail as big as softballs ripped through eight states, killing at least 27 people, injuring scores and destroying hundreds of homes in the South and Midwest.

Tennessee was hit hardest, with tornadoes striking five western counties Sunday and killing 23 people, including an infant and his grandparents and a family of four.

Most of the deaths were along a 25-mile path stretching from Newbern, about 80 miles northeast of Memphis, to Bradford, officials said. The Highway Patrol sent teams with search dogs to the area Monday to check what remained of damaged homes and businesses for anyone who might be trapped in the rubble.

Comments: Wild weather continues to play havoc around the globe. Jesus warned us that in the end times perilous times would come. As we race toward the 7 year period that many Christians believe is the duration of the Tribulation period, the intensity of events such as this will be just the beginning. We need to be watchful and watch for Jesus and his soon return.
