25 October 2007 – The speaker of Iraq's parliament warned Turkey on Thursday that his government would cut off the flow of oil from northern Iraq if Ankara followed through on its threat to level economic sanctions against the country.
Mahmoud al-Mashhadani's comments came a day after Turkey's top leadership agreed to recommend the government take economic measures to force cooperation by Iraqis against Kurdish rebels who have been staging cross-border attacks against Turkish troops.
"Northern Iraq cannot be pressured," al-Mashhadani told reporters in the Syrian capital of Damascus. "Iraq is a rich country, and if there are economic pressures, we will cut off the Ceyhan pipeline," he said, referring to two oil pipelines that run from northern Iraq to Turkey's Ceyhan oil terminal on the Mediterranean Sea.
Turkey has threatened to stage an incursion into northern Iraq if Iraqi Kurds and U.S.-led coalition forces do not crack down on Kurdish rebels based there, particularly following a rebel ambush Sunday that killed 12 Turkish soldiers near the border.
The decision to pursue economic measures was made with the hope of avoiding such an operation, which could have destabilizing effects on the entire region.
Comments: If Iraq were to cut the flow of oil to Turkey because of the incursion threat, Turkey could respond and cut the flow of water to Iraq. Turkey’s Ataturk Dam is the largest of a series of 22 dams along the two major rivers of the region. The two major rivers are the Tigris and Euphrates, which both have their headwaters in south-eastern Turkey. The rivers supply Syria and Iraq with a large part of its water supply. There has been dispute between Turkey and its neighbours regarding water supply and such disputes can be expected to become more common as water becomes a more valuable asset in the Middle East. When Iraq objected to the Turkish dams, the Turkish government stated that water was a natural resource. Turkey doesn't tell Iraq what do to with its oil and Iraq should not tell Turkey what to do with its water.
So now that oil is a valuable asset in the Middle East, Iraq is pulling out the oil weapon card and threatening to use it against Turkey but Turkey would respond likewise if the card were to be played. The bible tells us that the Euphrates River will be dried up during the Tribulation period and many people suspect that it will be because Turkey will cut the flow of water through of the Antaturk dam. 20 years ago Rev 16:12 was inconceivable and now with the flick of a switch it will become a reality. It’s all about the oil…and water.
Re 16:12 ¶ And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.

'World at peak oil output'
Source: CNN
25 October 2007 – The world has reached the point of maximum oil output and production levels will halve by 2030 -- a situation that will eventually lead to war and disaster, a report claims.
The German-based Energy Watch Group released a report Tuesday saying the world's oil production peaked in 2006 and from now on will drop by around 3 percent a year. It says that by as early as 2030, the global availability of oil will be half of what it was at its peak.
"It's a very serious result," said Hans-Josef Fell, a German lawmaker from the environmentalist Green Party who commissioned the report. "I fear the world will come into a big economic crisis in the coming years."
The report warns that
coal, uranium, and other key fossil fuels are also in declining
supply. It predicts the fall in fossil fuel production will bring
with it the threat of war, humanitarian disaster, and general social
unrest.
Comments: And the headlines are screaming…
Oil prices sizzle to new highs on geopolitical jitters
Global oil prices soared to bold new highs Thursday amid US supply concerns and geopolitical strains in the Middle East, including Turkey's military threat in Iraq and fresh US sanctions on Iran.
New York's main futures contract, light sweet crude for delivery in December, jumped by 3.36 dollars per barrel to close at a record 90.46 dollars, topping the prior record set Friday at 90.07.
"It's all happening at the same time: new concerns with Washington/Iran and new concerns that OPEC isn't going to be able to increase production to meet demand."

Libya, Russia to develop cooperation in oil and gas sphere
Source: Itar Tass
25 October 2007 – Libya and Russia are going to actively develop the cooperation in the oil and gas spheres.
The chief of the board of directors of the Libyan National Oil Company, Shukri Ghanem, and the co-chairman of the Russia- Libya Business Council, Ara Abramyan, held talks on Tripoli on Wednesday.
The meeting over prospects for cooperation between Libya and Russia addressed in the oil and gas sector.
Ghanem and Abramyan discussed possibilities for increasing Russia’s investment in this sphere of the Libyan economy.
The sides have agreed on setting up a joint working group for examining areas of interaction, in particular the establishment of joint stock societies.
Its activity will be aimed at studying the sales market, prospects for drilling operations, the state of the basic oil infrastructure and the development of draft agreements in the oil and gas sectors.
Comments: After all the articles coming out in the news over the last two weeks about the alliance between Russia, Turkey, Iran and the Caspian countries, now Libya enters the equation. Russia is doing exactly as the bible tells us it will do and is cementing relationships with all the countries mentioned in Ezekiel 38. Russia is on a whirlwind tour after oil and now Libya is part of this expanding partnership. These are extremely exciting times we are living in as we watch the bible coming to life in the news.
So what about Ethiopia and Sudan (Cush)? (Read this article) War brews on the new frontier
Eze 38:4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
