Barroso says "no excuse" if EU leaders fail to reach deal
Source: EUX.TV

15 October 2007 EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso appealed Monday to European leaders to use their summit this week to strike a deal on a new treaty to streamline the European Union.

"There is no excuse not to come to an agreement this week in Lisbon on the reform treaty," he said before meeting German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.

Merkel said that she wanted to do everything possible to make good headway during the summit meeting in order to ensure that the new treaty could be signed in December.

Leaders of the EU are due to meet in Lisbon on Thursday and Friday to finalize the treaty designed to reform the 27-member bloc and make it more effective.

The EU hopes to adopt the new treaty by the end of the year so that national governments can ratify it in time for it come into force ahead of elections to the European Parliament in summer 2009.

The new treaty, Barroso said, "will reinforce the European capacity to act on the global scene."

He said he would also discuss with Merkel a "vision paper" on how the EU can best react to global challenges such as energy security and climate protection.

Comments:  Only three more days until the important EU summit which will determine if the treaty is agreed upon or not. If a compromise is approved this week, the revised treaty must then be ratified in all 27 EU countries. There is growing pressure for referendums in some of the countries but that will have to wait and decided once this summit is over. The drama with the EU treaty is not over yet and if it is passed this week the next stage will begin. It could be possible that if a country rejects the treaty in a referendum (later) then a repeat of the French and Dutch rejection (constitution) could leave the EU floundering again. If that were to happen, any country rejecting the treaty could be pulled out by the roots to solve the problem. That is just my guess.

Da 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

Pat Robertson says dividing Jerusalem risks God's wrath
Source: Herald Tribune

15 October 2007 – Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson said Monday that the United States will risk God's wrath if it forces Israel to surrender part of Jerusalem to the Palestinians.

"He that touches Jerusalem touches the apple of God's eye," Robertson said on "The 700 Club," the daily religious news-and-talk television program he hosts from his Christian Broadcasting Network.

"And if we decide we're going to wrest East Jerusalem away from the Jews and give it over to the Palestinians, we're risking the wrath of God on this nation, and I think it's very dangerous," Robertson said.

Robertson made the remarks after watching a CBN news segment about Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's meeting Monday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Rice said the creation of a Palestinian state is a top U.S. interest. Also Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert hinted that he is ready to share control of Jerusalem, saying for the first time that Israel could do without controlling some of the holy city's outlying Arab neighborhoods.

Comments:  There are many religious leaders like Pat Roberston and John Hagee who are telling it like it is. Christians in North American that stand up for Israel need to let their voices be heard before it is too late. If Jerusalem is divided, any nation and individual that supports the creation of a Palestinian state will be at risk including the United States. The world is in the balance.

Zec 2:8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

9 For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.

10 ¶ Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.

11 And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.

12 And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
