"If I Divide Thee, O Jerusalem..."
Source: CBS News

08 October 2007 – Israel is softening its position on Jerusalem, saying it is ready for compromise with the Palestinians.

CBS News correspondent Robert Berger reports Israel's deputy prime minister Haim Ramon says the Israeli government would support a division of Jerusalem. This would be a key component of an Israeli-Palestinian declaration to be made at an international peace conference in the U.S. this year. Under the plan, Israel would transfer many of the Arab neighborhoods in east Jerusalem to the Palestinians.

Opponents say this would bring Palestinian rocket and shooting attacks into Jewish neighborhoods of the capital.

It's one of the most contentious issues in the Mideast conflict. But the offer appeared to fall short of Palestinian calls for a full Israeli withdrawal from key areas of the holy city.

Also Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told parliament that peace would require Israel to make "costly" concessions and that the Palestinians give up part of their dreams.

Ramon was not clear about what areas would be transferred to the Palestinians. But his opposition to relinquishing control of the Old City and neighboring areas with holy sites - known as the "holy basin" - falls short of Palestinian claims to all areas captured in the 1967 war.

"I agree that all the Palestinian neighborhoods except the Arab neighborhoods in the holy basin ... would be transferred," Ramon told Army Radio. Instead, he suggested a "special administration" be set up to oversee the holy basin. He did not elaborate, but past negotiations have raised the idea of turning oversight to an international body.

The Battle for Jerusalem Begins
Source: Arutz

08 October2007 – Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will put Jerusalem on the negotiating table as he hurtles toward a “joint declaration” with the Palestinian Authority ahead of next month’s U.S.-sponsored Mideast summit. The prime minister says that a joint declaration with PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas prior to the summit will lead to direct negotiations.

The Arabic Al Quds Al-Arabiya newspaper reported Monday morning that Olmert has now come to an agreement with Jordan that Arabs in eastern Jerusalem will be granted Jordanian citizenship. The plan would leave Jerusalem's Muslim holy sites under the control of the Hashemite kingdom, according to the report.

National Union Knesset Member Tzvi Hendel contended that placing control over the Temple Mount under Jordanian sovereignty is nothing less than national suicide.

"I realized a long time ago to my sorrow that there was no doubt Olmert would divide Jerusalem," he said. "Today it has become clear that even the Temple Mount, the heart of hearts of the Jewish People, is on the sales sheet for destruction. "

Prime Minister Olmert assured cabinet ministers Sunday that he will not make any strategic concessions to the PA at the U.S.-sponsored Mideast summit next month, but added the caveat that he nonetheless has the authority to cut a deal if he so chooses, without the approval of the Knesset.

Comments:  It is not very often that I cover a subject like this one (Jerusalem) repeatedly but like I mentioned 5 days ago, the battle for Jerusalem has now begun. Many Christians might think that this is a repeat at the failed attempt to broker a peace deal at camp David of July 2000, which took place between United States President Bill Clinton, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, and Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat. That was the last unsuccessful attempt to negotiate a "final status settlement" to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The dynamics of the middle east have changed since 2000. The international community is putting enourmouse pressure on Israel and the Palestinians to come up with a peace deal and this time I think they just might do it. It could take six months or so to come up with a final deal but with all news reports going around it seems like this time it is  for real. Olmert says he has the authority to cut a deal without approval from the Knesset and I believe he has already made up his mind.

Out of all the end time prophetic events taking place in the news today, it is my opinion that Jerusalem followed by Iran are key events to keep an eye on daily. There  are many prophetic events shaping the world today but the point I am trying to make here is, that now more than ever we need to keep watch and be ready.

West Papua Delegation Donates Gold For Holy Temple

Source: Arutz

07 October2007 – On Wednesday, the last day of the Sukkot festival, a 34-person delegation from West Papua presented a large amount of gold to be used in the building of the Holy Temple.

The delegation, including representatives of the nation’s government, explained that they study the Bible regularly and recently came upon a verse in Zecharia (6:15) reading “And the distant ones will come and build the Temple of G-d.” They discussed the passage among themselves and decided that their faith obligates them to fulfill the verse.

West Papua, located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, is rich in gold mines, so the delegation thought it natural to donate gold for the Holy Temple. The Holy Temple will be built in the place where the First and Second Temples once stood – on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount.

The group heard of the Temple Institute in Israel, which deals with advancing the building of the Temple, and on Hoshana Raba - the 7th day of Sukkot - the delegation arrived at the Institute's headquarters in Jerusalem’s Old City and presented the gold to Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, a founder of the institute, and Yehuda Glick, its director.

The group presented a kilogram of gold and a large sum of money. They requested that the gold be used to construct vessels for the Temple and that the funds be used by the institute for any purpose it sees fit. The institute has a fund set aside for exclusive use for the actual construction of the temple, as well as funds for building the vessels and engaging in educational projects. Rabbi Chaim Richman of the Temple Institute and Israel National Radio, said that, in view of the Halakhic problems that could be caused by specifically consecrating money and gold for the Holy Temple, an escrow account was opened, as was a safe deposit box for all donations; both have been explicitly set aside for use in building the Temple, and will remain untouched until then.

Rabbi Ariel said the episode was emotional as it constituted the fulfillment of the words of the prophets that nations will come from afar to help build the House of G-d in Jerusalem. “There is no doubt that this is a sign that the rest of our prophets’ prophecies will soon be fulfilled as well.”

Comments:  When the Lord decides it is time to build the Third Temple it will be built according to his word. Rabbi Ariel is correct in that “There is no doubt that this is a sign that the rest of our prophets’ prophecies will soon be fulfilled as well.”

Events like this one above only confirm that God is working his plan behind the scenes and setting the stage for his will to be done.

I encourage everyone to read the full article and see what else the Temple Institute is preparing for the rebuilding of the Third Temple.

Amazing stuff going on.

Zec 6:15 And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.
