Priestly Blessing on Temple Mount
Source: Arutz

21 October 2007 – Last week, during a special visit to the Temple Mount, the Priestly Blessing (Numbers 6:24-26) was recited there, for arguably the first time since the 1st-century destruction.

The Blessing is recited daily in synagogues in Israel by descendants of Aaron the Priest, and only on festivals in the Diaspora.

The special visit was held to commemorate the 842nd anniversary of Maimonides's famous visit to the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site.  A group of some 25 Jews, organized by the Temple Institute in Jerusalem, marked the special day with a commemorative visit.  Giving extra-special meaning to the occasion was a spontaneous Priestly Blessing delivered to the group by Yehuda Katz, the lead singer of the Reva L'Sheva band, and Eliezer Breuer, originally of the former Soviet Union and now from Kiryat Arba.

Rabbi Chaim Richman, one of the organizers of the trip, said,
"This was probably the first time since the destruction of the Temple [1,928 years ago] that the Priestly Blessing was delivered on our holiest site.  At times like these, when there is talk of giving away our precious places, and when despair is sometimes in the air, events of this nature serve to remind us that G-d has not forgotten about us, and that He still has big plans for both us and the Holy Temple - and that the Temple will yet become the focal point of the world once again."

Comments:  This latest visit to the Temple Mount might seem insignificant to most people but in reality this Priestly Blessing is another significant event in end time prophecy. The Kohanim (Cohanim) priests are Cohanim (plural of Cohen) are the priestly family of the Jewish people and members of the Tribe of Levi. The books of Exodus and Leviticus describe the responsibilities of the Cohanim, which include the Temple service and blessing of the people. The Torah (the first five books of the Bible) describes the anointing of Aaron, the brother of Moses, as the first High Priest (Cohen Gadol). Jewish tradition, based on the Torah, is that all Cohanim are direct descendants of Aaron, the brother of Moses. The Cohen line is patrilineal -- passed from father to son without interruption for 3,300 years, or more than 100 generations.

This visit to the Temple Mount by the Cohanim priests is one more step in the direction of rebuilding the 3rd Jewish Temple. The Temple Mount is becoming a focal point in the world and these priests will play a major part in the restoration of and duties in that Temple. Just as the Sanhedrin has been established after 2000 years another milestone has been resurrected with the Priestly Blessings. A war with Iran could lead to this prophecy (3rd Temple) being fulfilled sooner than we might think.

Nu 6:24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Kurdish rebels ambush, kill 12 Turkish troops
Source: CTV News

21 October 2007 – Kurdish rebels have killed at least 12 Turkish soldiers near the border with Iraq and reportedly taken some hostage, causing Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to call a crisis meeting.

Our anger, our hatred is great," he said Sunday on national television. However, Erdogan said the government would take "an approach that is calm, far from agitation and based on common sense."

The attack, one of the worst in a decade, comes four days after Turkey's parliament approved a motion allowing troops to enter Kurdish-dominated northern Iraq to fight the rebels.

"Our parliament has granted us the authority to act and within this framework we will do whatever has to be done," Erdogan said in Istanbul after voting in Sunday's referendum on having future presidents directly elected by the people.

The outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) carried out the attack in Hakkari province, blowing up a bridge as a Turkish military convoy crossed. Turkish military authorities said 23 rebels died in the ensuing battle. Sixteen people were reported wounded.

The PKK put out a statement saying it had killed 16 Turkish soldiers and had taken several hostage.

Military authorities report that the fighting continues in the area between rebels and helicopter-supported Turkish troops.

A Kurdish military official in Arbil, Iraq said Turkey's military had fired artillery shells into Iraq, but there were no reported casualties. Turkey's military admitted to shelling rebel targets, but not ones located inside Iraq.

At least 40 Turkish troops and security personnel have died in the past month. At least 100,000 patrol the border area between Iraq and Turkey.

Comments:  Update; The situation on the border of Turkey and Iraq seem to be spiralling into a crisis. The prospect of a Turkish invasion of northern Iraq is now likely and already they are already bombarding Northern Iraq. Turkey bombards northern Iraq after ambush. The possibility that this might destabilize the region has The United States worries and they have asked Turkey to hold off for a few days. I will be keeping an eye on this developing crisis to.
