Iran warns it could strike Israel as nuclear tensions mount
Source: AFP

19 September 2007 –
Iran warned on Wednesday that it could bomb Israel if it was attacked by the Jewish state, as the international war of words over the Islamic republic's nuclear drive escalated further.

The declaration by Iran's deputy air force commander Mohammad Alavi was immediately denounced by the United States, Israel's staunchest ally, which accuses Tehran of seeking to build an atomic bomb.

"We have come up with a plan that in the event of possible foolishness by this regime, Iranian bombers can carry out an attack in retaliation against Israeli soil," Alavi said, quoted by the Fars news agency.

"In addition to our missiles, whose range covers the whole soil of this regime, we can attack them with our fighter jets and respond to any attack -- an unlikely event -- with an air attack on their soil.

"This plan is not an empty threat."

Israel said it was taking "very seriously" the threat. "Unfortunately we hear all too often belicose, extreme and hateful statements out of the Iranian leadership," Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Mark Regev told AFP.

The White House denounced it as "almost provocative".

Alavi's comments came after French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner warned that the world should brace for war against the Islamic republic over its nuclear activities.

The United States and its ally Israel have never ruled out using military strikes to punish Iran for its defiance in the standoff and US Defence Secretary Robert Gates said on Sunday that "all options are on the table."

There has been speculation in some foreign media that an Israeli air strike on Syria earlier this month -- which has never been confirmed by Israel -- was a "dry run" for an attack against Iran's nuclear installations.

Comments:  The war of words is really starting to mount between Iran, Israel, the U.S. and the international community. As I posted before, this issue is the most serious crisis the world is facing at the moment and the outcome could have catastrophic effects globally.

I will be posting regularly on this situation and report on this crisis as it continues to unfold. I have no doubt that this event will lead to the Gog / Magog invasion spoken of in Eze. 38 and 39 and what we are seeing is the prelude to this invasion later in the Tribulation period.

Persia/Iran is a main player in that confrontation and as the nuclear tensions mount, the crisis will get even hotter once the shipment of (Russian) fuel for the reactor is on the way. If Israel were to knock out Iran’s nuclear installations that were built by Russia, that would be a good hook in the jaw. Persia is the first country on the list.

Eze 38:3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:

Eze 38:8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.

Hundreds ill after Peru 'toxic meteor crash'
Source: Telegraph

19 September 2007 – Hundreds of people have suffered headaches, nausea, and respiratory problems after an object from space - believed to be a meteorite - crashed in southern Peru.

Eyewitnesses watched a fiery ball fall from the sky and smash into the remote Andean plain near the Bolivian border on Saturday, local media reported.

When villagers went to investigate, they encountered fetid, noxious gases, according to local health officials.

Jorge Lopez, director of the health department in the southern state of Puno, 800 miles south of Lima, said at least 200 people had become ill after inhaling "toxic" fumes emanating from the resulting crater.

"This is caused by the gas they have inhaled after the crash," Mr Lopez said.

Ursula Marvin, a meteor expert at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory in Massachusetts, said it was likely the dust raised when the object hit the ground was causing the health problems.

Comments:  Almost makes you think that this was right out of a Sci Fi movie. As the article mentioned the fumes were most likely toxic fumes emanating from the crater and not contagious alien mars gas. See picture here. One thing is for certain though, you don’t see meteorites of this size crashing into earth every day hitting the headline news. Many Christians believe that the star that falls in Rev 8:10 could be a meteorite but of a much greater size than the one that fell in Peru. Hundreds became ill after a small meteorite crashed into southern Peru. I wonder what would happen if a gigantic one crashed into the sea and if that would have the same results but on a larger scale? It would be interesting to see the test results of this meteor in Peru.

Re 8:10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;

11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.
