viewpoints; until such time as God reveals how perfectly His Word will be

the scriptures to see if these things are so (see Acts 17:10-11)

Pope
Benedictus XVI met on Wednesday in the Vatican with the Syrian Vice
President Farouk A-Shara who conveyed a personal message to him from
Syrian President Bashar Assad. According to media reports in Italy,
the two discussed the Iraqi refugees in Syria, the problems
concerning the Christian community in Syria, but focussed mainly on
the situation in the Middle East.
A-Shara is scheduled to meet with Italian Prime Minister Romano
Prodi on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, President Shimon Peres who is also visiting in Rome met
with Prodi and is to meet with Pope Benedictus XVI on Thursday.
Prodi also meet with Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora on
Tuesday.
It appears that the majority of the Middle East leaders are
meeting in Rome appears to be proof of Italy's intentions and that
of Pope Benedictus XI to become more involved in the Middle East
peace process. Europe's diplomatic efforts to become more involved
in the Middle East appear to be intensifying. French Foreign
Minister Bernard Kouchner is due to visit the Middle East next week
and the EU envoy Xavier Solana has just completed a visit to the
region.09/05/07
Comments: The Pope getting involved in the Middle East peace process is a huge event in biblical prophecy. Many people have expected that the Vatican would become involved in the process and eventually the Pope might fill the false prophet seat spoken of in Revelation 13:11. Tomorrow Shimon Peres will visit with the Pope and this will be a meeting to keep an eye on for sure. We know that Peres and Ehud Olmert are willing to give over the entire West bank and Jerusalem for the sake of peace and any promises to the Pope may be related to that outcome since Jerusalem is also significant to Rome. This meeting with the Pope could set the stage for the seat of Rome to enter into the Middle East negotiations and if this is so, the beast from the earth could be stirring.
Re 13:11 ¶ And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
