Prophesied destruction of Damascus imminent?
Source: WND

20 September 2007 –
A stunning report published by Jane's Defense Weekly confirms rumors of a July explosion at a Syrian military base at al-Safir, near Aleppo, in which reportedly "dozens" of Iranian engineers were killed along with their Syrian counterparts.

Syria had originally dismissed reports of the explosion by saying the blast was generated by the desert heat causing the accidental detonation of a stockpile of explosives.

Jane's reported that the explosion was actually triggered while the engineers were fitting a chemical warhead onto a Scud-C missile. The explosion and fire released containers of the deadly nerve agents VX and sarin gas, as well as a mustard gas blistering agent.

Israeli Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter told reporters this week, "Iran has entered into strategic cooperation with Syria on conventional and nonconventional weapons development," adding, "The Iranians are very big in Syria."

Damascus is the oldest continually inhabited city on earth. Although conquered many times, its status as an economic and cultural center of antiquity preserved it intact to this day.

But Isaiah predicted Damascus would one day face utter destruction: "Behold, Damascus is about to be removed from being a city and it will become a fallen ruin," he writes in Isaiah 17:1.

The prophet also predicts Damascus' destruction will come at a time when "the glory of Jacob" had begun to fade (verse 4), at a time when Israel is in great peril of being "shaken like an olive tree," leaving only a few "on the topmost bough."

Shots in the dark over Syria's skies

20 September 2007 –
Israeli opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, while becoming the first official of that country to admit that it did conduct an air raid into Syria on September 6, sheds no further light on the escapade, thus adding to the mountain of speculation that already exists on the incident.

Netanyahu said on Thursday that he had given Prime Minister Ehud Olmert his support for "an attack", and promptly drew a rebuke from the premier for speaking out of turn.

Israel has imposed a media blackout on the events of the night of September 6, when Syria claimed its airspace in the northern province of Raqqa had been violated and that its defenses forced Israeli F-15 jets to flee, dropping "munitions" and fuel tanks in the desert near the Turkish border.

The US media insist, however, that the Israelis hit something major. The latest reports, attributed to "US government sources", say that Israel, with tacit assistance and support from the US, bombed a facility at which nuclear weapons were being developed with assistance from North Korea.

Both Syria and North Korea have denied that they are cooperating in nuclear technology, and Pyongyang issued a harsh condemnation of the Israeli intrusion into Syrian airspace.

There were reports that three days before the Israeli attack, a ship carrying North Korean material labeled as "cement" unloaded its cargo in Syria. That material, the reports said, was believed to be nuclear equipment.

Hours before the Israeli planes crossed the Syrian border, Javier Solana, the European Union's foreign-policy chief, delivered a message from Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak that troop deployment on the border with Syria would be reduced to prevent an outbreak of war, insisting that his country was not interested in war with the Syrians.

Syria, North Korea hold high-level talks in Pyongyang
Source: Haaretz

21 September 2007 – North Korea and Syria held high-level talks Friday in Pyongyang, the North's state media reported, amid suspicions that the two countries might be cooperating on a nuclear weapons program.

The talks took place between Choe Tae Bok, secretary of the Central Committee of the North's ruling Workers' Party, and Saaeed Eleia Dawood, director of the organizational department of Syria's Baath Arab Socialist Party, the official Korean Central News Agency reported.

The two sides discussed ways of improving friendship and cooperation and other issues of bilateral interest, KCNA said, without elaborating.

U.S. government sources have said that Israel shared intelligence information with the Bush Administration this summer indicating that North Korean nuclear personnel were in Syria, the Washington Post reported Friday.

Comments:  Update; the IAF raid into Syria could be the opening shot in a war between these two countries and the bible is clear what the outcome of this war could be this time. The six day war and (the anniversary today) the Yom Kippur war is still fresh in Israel history but didn’t produce Isa. 17:1. Today, Syria possesses huge quantities of Sarin, Anthrax and VX nerve gas and in a new war Israel suspects that Syria will most likely use them but this in turn will cause the ruin of Damascus most likely from an Israeli nuclear strike. Look at what Israeli officials are saying today; Israel to Syria: Use chem weapons & we'll wipe you off map   Christians and Jews know Isa 17:1 is coming but most of the world is oblivious to what the bible says but when it comes it will cause shockwaves around the world.

Meanwhile, Solana says Syria has important Role in region He underlined the importance of restoring the occupied Syrian Golan to Syria; considering that peace will be achieved in the framework of the Arab peace initiative”

In other words, Javier Solana the European Union's High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy promotes giving more land away to Israel’s enemies for the sake of peace. Gaza, The West Bank, Jerusalem and the Golan Heights are all on the chopping block for the sake of a peace treaty that will never hold. The march for peace continues at Israel’s expense, even asking Israel to be nice to its enemies who are raining the rockets into Sderot. SOLANA, ISRAEL SHOULD RECONSIDER GAZA DECISION.

Will the war with Syria break out before the false peace or will the false peace break out before the war? We just don’t know yet.

Isa 17:1 ¶ The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

Isa 17:12 ¶ Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

Da 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
