Wheat Price Rises to Record $9 a Bushel on Global Crop Concerns
Source: Bloomberg

12 September 2007 – Wheat surpassed $9 a bushel for the first time as a drought in Australia and Canada cut production, pushing global stockpiles toward a 26-year low.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture today cut its estimate of Australia's wheat crop to 21 million metric tons from last month's estimate of 23 million tons. Some analysts expected the USDA forecast to show Australian production would be as low as 15 million tons. Canada will produce 20.3 million tons, a 5.6 percent drop from August's estimate, the USDA said.

Increasing demand from Egypt to India and weather damage to global crops have driven up prices in Chicago by 79 percent this year. Users including Kellogg Co., the biggest U.S. cereal maker, General Mills Inc, Sara Lee Corp. and PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, the world's biggest producer of instant noodles, are responding by raising prices, fueling inflation.

Whisky firms pay more for barley
Source: BBC

12 September 2007 - The whisky industry is paying its highest prices for barley in 10 years, according to the National Farmers' Union Scotland.

Cereals chairman John Picken said farmers were getting a price for malting barley closer to what they had long been calling for.

Growers favouring food crops such as wheat and poor weather had reduced the acreage for barley to a 30-year low.

Comments:  With all the different events taking place around the world, the last thing relating to bible prophecy many would expect to see right now is the price of wheat going through the roof. Wheat is at an all time high and global stockpiles are at an all time low. Wheat is probably the main food source in the world and low stocks will mean more famine in third world countries that rely on major wheat producers for food. Out of curiosity I decided to do a search and see how barley prices were doing and discovered that it is not doing so well either. The bible tells us that we can expect catastrophic food shortages during the last 7 year period and we seem to be heading in that direction right now. These are just some of the signs that Jesus told us to watch for and as I mentioned yesterday, GREAT Earthquakes and pestilences are signs of the times we are living in and the way things are going, shortages of food will be on a scale of biblical proportions all over the globe. Just to put this into perspective, wheat has nearly doubled in price from a year ago.

Re 6:5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

Re 6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

Lu 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Oil Prices Retreat From Record High
Source: Yahoo

12 September 2007 Oil prices dropped Thursday as traders took profit after U.S. crude stocks fell and drove oil futures in the previous session above US$80 a barrel for the first time ever.

Light, sweet crude for October delivery lost 26 cents to US$79.65 a barrel in Asian electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange by midmorning in Singapore.

The contract climbed as high as US$80.18 a barrel Wednesday before settling at a record close of US$79.91 a barrel, up US$1.68.

Despite Wednesday's jump, oil is still well below inflation-adjusted highs hit in early 1980. Depending on the adjustment, a US$38 barrel of oil in 1980 would be worth US$96 to US$101 or more today.

Dollar Hits All-Time Low Against Euro
Source: Yahoo

13 September 2007 – The dollar plunged to its lowest point ever against the euro Wednesday amid speculation that the Federal Reserve will soon cut interest rates and on a warning from the U.S. treasury secretary that turbulence in financial markets may linger.

The 13-nation euro rose as high as $1.3914 in New York trading -- topping its previous record of $1.3852 reached July 24. It later fell back to $1.3908, still up from $1.3832 in New York late Tuesday.

The euro surged after Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, speaking to officials from some of the biggest financial firms in the U.S., said volatility in financial markets will take some time to be resolved, particularly in the area of subprime mortgages.

Comments:  High Oil prices (record High Yesterday) and a record low dollar (against Euro) is another indication that the economy is starting to get pretty bumpy. A war with Iran would take out the “Inflation-adjusted highs hit in early 1980” and into infinity and beyond. Low stockpiles are causing the crunch but that doesn’t mean that there is not enough oil on the planet, it means that they just can’t pump it out fast enough for the demand. There is plenty of oil in the ground but production can’t keep up.

Going back to Rev 6:6 it could be possible that the oil mentioned in that scripture is the same oil as the black gold that the world depends on and what the scripture is telling us is that (again) there is plenty of oil in the ground and that is where it will be and not be hurt when the four horsemen ride.

Many Christians believe that the downfall of the United States from empire to ruins will be an economic fall and not a military defeat. The U.S. dollar is crumbling and in freefall and there is nothing right now that seems to be able to prop it up including the billions of dollars that were pumped into the markets about a month ago to give it a boost. For the last two years the dollar has been steadily going down. Where does the buck stop? Take a look and see if you can guess Here.

Keep an eye on Israel; everything seems to be heating up.
