Evangelicals & Seventh Day Adventist consider future ties despite differences

Source: THE CHRISTIAN POST

August 16, 2007 -- Representatives of the World Evangelical Alliance and Seventh-day Adventist Church recently met for a second round of theological discussion that will serve as a key factor in determining whether the Adventist Church will become a member of the WEA.

Theologians from both parties met Aug. 5-10 at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, to discuss theological differences, common goals and whether there are enough commonalities for the Adventists to join the WEA family.

“The progress seems to have been that although there are these differences, which no one wants to gloss over, that does not mean there cannot be cooperation and fellowship in other areas, especially in moral matters,” explained the Rev. Dr. David Parker, executive director of the WEA Theological Commission, to The Christian Post Tuesday.

“This is similar to other situations where denominations and religious groups may have differences of belief but do hold common values in some areas allowing them some measure of cooperation and joint-action,” said Parker.

A well-known difference between Adventists and other Protestants is in regards to the Sabbath. Adventists hold their Sabbath on Saturday rather than on Sunday. Moreover, they believe death is a time of “sleep” until the second coming of Jesus Christ, rather than the soul going to heaven or hell.

One of the greatest and most divisive differences, which is the foundation of Adventism, is the pre-Advent judgment. Adventists believe Jesus will give the final judgment before his second coming, whereas Protestants believe the last judgment will occur at or after the second coming.

"We were able to share with the evangelical world the Adventist self-understanding in an effort to eliminate prejudice and clarify questions about our message," said Adventist meeting organizer John Graz, secretary of the Council on Inter-church and Inter-faith Relations of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (CIRA), in a statement.

"Instead of knowing about us through questionable means, this allowed us face-to-face interaction to share where our church stands," he said.

Comments:  2 Corinthians 6:[14] Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? Sister Evelyn of WeDG wrote “They also believe in Replacement Theology and that they are Israel! And that Ellen G White's writings are on par with the Bible.”  So true.  In fact, the Seventh Day Adventist cult has written its own version of the Bible.  Cults are satanic and thus, there ought to be no association with the works of darkness yet these evangelicals want to work together with the Seventh Day Adventist to promote moral values.  In other words, they may not agree on theology, but that doesn’t mean they can’t work side by side to clean up this polluted world.

The Lord told us to be not equally yoked with unbelievers no matter how worthy the cause.  Yes, cults have moral values and some don’t allow their members to smoke, drink coffee, imbibe alcohol, utter profanity, support pro-lifers, etc.  Some cults are as squeaky clean as the singing Osmonds (who by the way are Mormons).  There’s a growing call for conservative Christians to support Mormon U.S. presidential candidate Mitt Romney because he believes in many of the same `Christian` values as evangelicals.  ``Mr. Romney is running for U.S. presidency and not as your pastor`` is the rationale given to vote for him.  He will govern America by upholding God’s moral principles unlike the Methodist Hillary Clinton or the hybrid Muslim/Christian Barack Obama.  Go figure that one out!

Israel to give up the Temple Mount?

Source: WorldNetDaily.com (WND)

August 17, 2007 -- Palestinian negotiators drafting an agreement behind the scenes with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office have made clear they will not accept any final peace deal with Israel unless the Jewish state forfeits the Temple Mount, Judaism's holiest site, WND has learned.

According to a report in Israel's Yediot Aharonot daily yesterday, Olmert is willing to discuss joint Israeli-Palestinian control over the Temple Mount complex. The report didn't state the positions of the Palestinian side on the issue.

A chief Palestinian negotiator, speaking to WND on condition his name be withheld, said yesterday, "there can be no agreement with Israel unless we get complete sovereignty of the Mount. Once Palestinian control over the [Temple Mount] is fixed, then we will make assurances for Jewish visits to the site."

Comments:  Zechariah 8:[3] Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain. Don’t get your hair up in a pickle!  This article talks about Israel giving up control of the Temple Mount and not the city of Jerusalem.  This is not official yet and it could be pure conjecture, but with PM Ehud “I will entertain any and all proposals” Olmert, you never know.  Being the former mayor of Jerusalem, he’s knows the city of David like the back of his right hand.  He assured the people of Israel that he’s the right man for the job and the citizens have backed him with a popularity in the single digit percentage.  In other words, Israelis have little or no faith in him to lead nation.

A few hours after the Israeli flag was hoisted over the Dome of the Rock in 1967, at the conclusion of the Six-Day War, Israelis lowered it on the orders of General Moshe Dayan, and invested the Muslim Waqf (religious trust) with the authority to manage the Temple Mount-Haram al-Sharif in order to "keep the peace". Currently, as territory of Israel, the Israeli government is still allowing the Muslim Council full administration of the site. Jews and Christians are barred from conducting services there.

The Palestinians won’t relinquish control of the Temple Mount to Israel no matter what even though the Dome of the Rock and the adjacent mosque are sitting on Islam’s third most holy site, but on Israel’s most holy site.  They’re on Israel’s land for heaven’s sake!  Doesn’t that mean anything?!  Not a pluck nickel it would seem.

The future Third Temple of Solomon will be built as alluded to in Daniel 9:27.  If the Palestinians want full control as part of the upcoming peace accord, the religious Jews could ask for the Jewish Temple to be erected on the Temple Mount in exchange for such a condition.  If Mahmoud Abbas says “Yes”, then the construction project is a “Go”.  The months leading up to the November 2007 International peace conference will see more wheeling and dealings than an NFL draft.

Mahmoud Abbas seeks unity with Hamas, Breaks promise to US congressmen

Source: www.israelnationalnews.com

August 16, 2007 -- Just days after promising US lawmakers that his Fatah movement would not reconcile with Hamas, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is inviting the Islamist movement to kiss and make up.

Abbas called on Hamas to “return to national unity” following his meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso Wednesday. "The split that happened as a result of Hamas's coup is temporary and will be removed," Abbas said. Hamas welcomed Abbas’s statements and invited him to negotiations in Gaza.

Comments:  If I were Mr. Abbas, I better make sure I have beefy and experienced sharpshooter security soldiers guarding me when I venture into the hostile Gaza Strip for reconciliation talks with Hamas.  An assassination attempt is a high probability.  A dead Abbas would spell the end of the Fatah Party and a complete takeover by Hamas of the West Bank.  With Hamas in full control of the Palestinians, the planned international peace conference will be suspended indefinitely.  Israel will be on red alert for a full out war with Hamas, Syria, Hezbollah and Iran.

Even if Abbas doesn’t get mowed down by a barrage of bullets or a grenade, a unity government will not fly with President Bush nor with Israel.  Hamas must recognize Israel’s right to exist and Hamas must disarm.  These are the very core of Hamas’s “raison d’ētre”.  It’s an implacable situation.  Hamas is like a leopard that cannot change its spots.  It’s either Fatah Party or Hamas alone, and not a unity coalition.  Another conundrum that only the future Antichrist will have the solution.

Bibi Netanyahu's campaign HQ shares building with Messianic Jews

Source: www.israeltoday.co

August 16, 2007 -- Benjamin Netanyahu's headquarters for his campaign to remain chairman of the Likud Party is on the second floor of a Tel Aviv building also occupied by a large Israeli Messianic organization dedicated to bringing the message of Jesus to their fellow Israeli Jews.

The Dugit Messianic Information Center is situated in the lobby of the building on Tel Aviv's popular Sheinkin Street. Workers at the center told The Jerusalem Post that Netanyahu came into their office at one point to ask what the organization was. When they told him, Netanyahu reported replied, “Good.”

Netanyahu is known to have strong ties to the Evangelical Christian world, and has refrained from ever disparaging his Messianic countrymen, unlike Feiglin, who in the past has made virulent remarks about believers in Jesus, be they Jewish or Gentile.

Comments:  Bibi’s grandmother was a Messianic Jew and she had witnessed to her grandson about Jesus Christ being Israel’s Messiah and Saviour.  Although Bibi has heard the Gospel from her and from good friend and best selling author Joel Rosenberg (The Last Jihad, The Ezekiel Option and Epicenter), Bibi admitted that he’s not a religious man.  He’s so close yet so far away when it comes to salvation.  We know God loves him and wants him to come to Jesus, but he’s still outside the door.

In 1996, God used Bibi to forestall the Labor Party foolhardy plan of land giveaway.  Yes, Bibi was under intense pressure from President Clinton to give, give and give and he did yield a little.  God also used the hawkish Ariel Sharon to resist the Palestinians for seven years (2000 -2006).  Will God place Bibi in the position of prime minister of Israel once again to delay the revealing of the Antichrist to make his grand entrance into the world to solve the Arab-Israeli conflict?  Certainly of all three candidates for PM (Olmert, Barak and Netanyahu), Bibi is the most hawkish and nationalistic.  He says he’ll fight the land in exchange for peace and security proposal.  1996-1999 was tough sledding for Bibi in his Clinton relationship.  George W. Bush will prove to be an even fiercer president to say “No” to since the failure of the November 2007 international peace conference will translate into a personal flop for the President.  If national elections for Israel occur after the conference, that would be a moot point for Bibi.

Oh, that we wish we could say this about Bibi: 2 Timothy 1:[5] When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
