Report: Swiss customs seize equipment for Iran nuke plant

By JPOST.COM STAFF

Source: Jerusalem Post

Swiss customs authorities seized mechanical equipment weighing over two tons which they suspected was destined for an Iranian nuclear plant, Al Watan reported on Friday.

The equipment's estimated value was 0.5 million euros.

According to the report in the Saudi-based newspaper, a Swiss company was suspected to be involved in the deal.

Swiss government officials and the Iranian embassy in Switzerland refused to comment on the report.

Comments: Selling nuclear technology to Iran is like giving an M-16 to a chimpanzee. You just know somebody’s going to get hurt. If Iran doesn’t cancel its nuclear program soon, the U.S. or Israel will have to cancel it for them.

They probably don’t have the technology to build a true atomic bomb, but their reactor could provide tons of highly radioactive waste suitable for manufacturing “dirty” bombs. They would happily turn these weapons over to terrorists.

The best we can do is slow them down, as they are destined to attack Israel in the Ezekiel 38 war.  However, it is still in our best interests to keep them out of trouble until the day when God Himself will destroy them.

And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD. (Ezekiel 38:22-23)

Libya close to arms deals with France

By James Mackenzie

Source: Yahoo News/Reuters

Libya is set to buy anti-tank missiles and radio systems from European aerospace and defense group EADS, days after a visit to Tripoli by President Nicolas Sarkozy, the French government said on Friday.

France repeated its denials that the sale had been agreed in exchange for the release of a group of foreign medics held in jail for eight years for allegedly infecting Libyan children with HIV, and freed hours before Sarkozy's visit.

Defence Minister Herve Morin said the groundwork had been laid under the previous French government which approved the sale of anti-tank missiles in February, before Sarkozy's victory in the May presidential election.

"Agreement has been granted in principle, so unless there is a technical disagreement of some kind, it will be done at any time now," he told France Info radio.

Other European countries including Britain have been working for defense deals with Tripoli but a Libyan source said the sale would be the first from a Western country since an EU arms embargo was lifted in 2004.

EADS said its MBDA joint venture with Britain's BAE Systems and Italy's Finmeccanica had finalized an accord to sell Libya Milan missiles, a portable, medium-range anti-tank weapon. It was also in advanced talks on supplying radios.

"This (missile) contract is awaiting the signature of the Libyan client, and EADS is happy that the negotiations could be concluded," EADS said in a statement.

Comments: This is just another example of the preparations for the Gog-Magog war. We see Iran toying with nuclear weapons, Russia flexing its muscles in the air over the North Sea, and now France supplying arms to Libya. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: (Ezekiel 38:5)

It is my feeling that we will see this war just prior to the Rapture; as a sort of last warning to the nations. (See Ezekiel 38:23) This, of course, is only my opinion. I hope that I am wrong and we are out of here beforehand, but we have no guarantee of this. But as the players take the field, we do know that time is short. Keep looking up.

Hawkish Member of Knesset says he's ready to blow up the Western Wall for peace

Source: www.ynetnews.com

August 2, 2007 -- Israel Our Home MK David Rotem says he is ready to do everything to reach peace, including blowing up the Western Wall.

Rotem's answer came in response to a question during an interview with Voice of Peace Radio about how his hawkish party can justify remaining in a coalition with a government who is holding talks with the Palestinians, something his party opposed.

Rotem emphasized that even so-called rightists, in Israel, were pro-peace, adding that he himself would do almost anything to ensure it.

"If they guarantee to me that by blowing up the Western Wall I can save the life of one person, I will place an explosives device near it and destroy it because I am really ready to do everything for peace if I have a real partner for peace," he added.

Comments:  I’ve read of people who’ll do anything for love and money, but blowing up the historic Western Wall for peace is going too far.  He’ll not only destroy something that’s Biblical, but he’ll land in jail and lose his cushy MK seat in the Knesset.  The late Governor George Wallace of Alabama (an independent candidate for U.S. president) used to say, “There’s not a nickle difference between the Republicans and the Democrats.”  The same can be said about Israel’s hawkish right of center parties, the centrists, and the liberal Labour Party.  They’ll all secular and don’t know or care if Israel is carved up like a festive roast lamb.  They’ll bring peace to Israel no matter what the cost even if it means ceding more concessions to their enemies.

They have felt the pulse of their citizens who are weary of terrorism.  As a result, the cries of “peace, peace” ring inside their hollow heads.  Peace with the Arabs will not put down the Islamic terrorists, but will attain a truce (a temporary cessation of the blood‑shedding) at most.  The Arabs would use their acquired (stolen) land to regroup and stage a major war against Israel.  Dispensational Christians can see this clearly, but Israel’s Christ rejecting leaders do not due to their spiritual blindness.  BibleNuggetLady put it best when she alluded to the Trojan Horse (false peace) that Israel is bringing into the Israeli camp that will result in her ultimate destruction, i.e. the deaths of 2/3 of Jews worldwide.  1 Thessalonians 5:[3] For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

American evangelicals divided over Israel & 2-state solution

Source: www.israeltoday.co

August 2, 2007 -- American Christian Zionist umbrella group Christians United for Israel (CUFI) sent a letter to US President George W. Bush earlier this week insisting that he stop pressuring Israel to surrender its biblical heartland for the creation of yet another Arab Muslim state.

Israeli opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who is close to CUFI director Pastor John Hagee, recently voiced a similar position, pointing out that “the withdrawal from Gaza two years ago proved that any Israeli withdrawal, particularly a unilateral one, does not advance peace but establishes a terror base for radical Islam.”

The CUFI letter, which was signed by 51 Evangelical leaders, reached the White House just one day before an opposing message signed by 30 heads of Christian seminaries and ministries arrived.

The second letter was also published in the New York Times in an effort to “correct a serious misperception among some people including some US policymakers that all American evangelicals are opposed to a two-state solution and creation of a new Palestinian state that includes the vast majority of the West Bank.”

Comments:  How come the main media didn’t report that the CUFI’s letter had been received by the White House and one day before the receipt of the evangelicals’ letter expressing support for President’s Bush’s push for a 2-state solution?  The answer is obvious; Mr. Bush likes Christians who pat his back while he heaps scorn on his critics.  As was reported here earlier, Christian White House correspondent Bill Koenig had already provided Mr. Bush with books attesting to Israel’s special favour with God and that it will draw God’s ire to divide the land of Israel to give to the Arabs.  Mr. Bush will be held culpable as well as other persons who are applying unrelenting pressure on Israel to give away more and more real estate.  The title of the land had been bequeathed by God Himself to Isaac’s ancestors.

Among so called “evangelicals”, we see a split right down the middle. Half are unwavering about not dividing up the land and are supporting an ever dwindling number of Israeli politicians who espouses “Israel united forever” while a growing number are showing their true colors by embracing the false teaching of Replacement Theology which is a cousin to Dominionism/Kingdom Theology.  The latter truly believes that it’s the Christian’s duty to bring in the Kingdom (by force if needed) for Christ before He can return to Earth.  To them, Israel has been forever replaced by the Church.  The Church will Christianize the world.  Worldwide peace must occur first before righteousness can reign.  Pastor John Hagee and other “Christian Zionists” plan to put a monkey wrench into the gears that drive the Dominionism/Kingdom Theology machinery.

President Bush has too little time to secure a peace accord

Source: Jerusalem Post

August 2, 2007 -- The Bush Administration would be wrong to believe that it can secure a permanent Israeli-Palestinian peace accord in the final year or so it has left in office, Martin Indyk, ambassador to Israel under President Clinton, warned on Thursday.

"I hope that's not their plan," said Indyk, who was deeply involved in the failed push for a permanent deal at Camp David in 2000. "If so, they'll drive it to a bad end. It's bad to set artificial deadlines.

"I was burned by that," Indyk told The Jerusalem Post, referring to the effort to forge a deal between prime minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian Authority chairman Yasser Arafat in the final months of the Clinton Administration. "To try to push to a [full] agreement in the final year of the administration is precisely what George Bush criticized Clinton for doing. It would be ironic indeed if Bush wound up doing it himself."

What was needed, he said, was an international force, of perhaps 10,000 men, to carry out training of the Palestinians and joint operations in the West Bank. This, in turn, could gradually restore Israeli confidence in the viability of a partnership with the Palestinians.

Comments:  President Clinton had only 6.5 months (July 2000 until January 19, 2001) to secure a peace deal compared to President Bush who has 1 year & 3 months (November 2007 until January 19, 2009). Clinton was a lone wolf (Yasser Arafat and Ehud Barak were reluctant Camp David II participants) while the EU, Russia, the U.N., the Vatican, the Saudis, Fatah Party' head honcho Mahmoud Abbas, Ehud Olmert, all rallying behind Mr. Bush's peace initiative.

For myself, I pray that George W. Bush doesn't turn out to be the man of peace (the Antichrist), but that the Rapture will occur prior to the start of the International Peace Conference slated for November 2007. The removal of millions of Christians (including Ms. Condi Rice) would surely strike fear into the peace conference participants that they'll gladly accept the substitute peace conference host's (a European or a Muslim) urging to forge a comprehensive peace treaty.  Being that I have been let down before, I won't set my hopes too high this time around.

As sister cnav of WeDG so aptly pointed out, things are different this time…the whole world (U.N.) literally is involved...never been done before.

'Anti-Israel conference' slammed (UN Summit hosted by EU Parliament)

Source: www.ynetnews.com

August 3, 2007 -- A UN conference of non-government organizations (NGOs) called to discuss "civil society in support of Israeli-Palestinian peace" at the end of August has been described by an Israeli NGO watchdog as an "anti-Israel propaganda conference".

The meeting, set to take place at the European Parliament (EP) on August 30 - 31, has been organized by the UN's Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, which describes itself as "the main UN forum where all NGOs interested in the Palestine issue can meet."

According to the Jerusalem-based NGO Monitor organization, the conference and its organizers form "frameworks that promote the conflict," adding that the NGOs involved in the upcoming conference were also active in "implementing the Durban agenda of demonization," - a reference to the 2001 UN Durban conference on racism, which saw unprecedented levels of anti-Zionist rhetoric, and calls for Israel's destruction.

"This year, for the first time, the exercise is gaining the legitimacy of sponsorship by the European Parliament, further highlighting the role that the Europe Union plays in supporting the NGO campaign," NGO Monitor said in its report.

Noting that "the speakers list is (being kept) secret until the conference, highlighting the violation of transparency in the UN and EU," NGO Watch said "past speakers have included radical figures such as... Jamal Juma' Ja'afreh, from the Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign. Topics include 'the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and civil society response,' and 'Strengthening campaigns to end occupation, including grassroots campaigns against the wall, rallying around Bil'in" (the site of violent attacks organized by NGOs in order to provoke Israeli responses).'"

Speaking to Ynetnews, Professor Gerald Steinberg, Executive Director of NGO Monitor, said: "What is surprising is not the UN involvement in the NGO's demonization of Israel, but that the EU Parliament is providing support and a platform for these fringe groups. This is yet another side of the absurdity of the EU's claim to support peace, whilst simultaneously promoting radical NGOs, like ICAHD, and giving them legitimacy at the EU Parliament."

"Unfortunately, the NGO Monitor misinterprets the event as an 'anti-Israel propaganda conference'. The UN Committee is not anti-Israeli, nor are its activities. The Committee welcomed the 1991 Madrid Peace Conference that launched the Middle East peace process based on Security Council resolutions 242 and 338 and the principle of 'land for peace'," Grieger told Ynetnews.

Comments:  For decades now, the U.S. had been accused of being biased toward Israel while France and a few EU countries have sided with the Arabs (mainly for fear of oil flow stoppage).  It’s for that reason, the Arab League views Mr. Bush’s peace initiative with cautious scepticism and is playing down Tony Blair’s (who’s seen as Mr. Bush’s lapdog) role as Mideast envoy.  Israel, on the other hand, sees the EU as an extension of the anti-Semitic UN.  Neither the U.S. nor the EU could be considered as neutral mediators of peace.  Jews and Arabs take polar opposite positions like a see-saw in motion.

This August 30 & 31, 2007 UN conference of non-government organizations (NGOs) won’t sit well with Jews worldwide.  If the entire world is applying the corkscrew on Israel to make peace with the Palestinians, this UN conference will just serve to inflame the Israelis ahead of Mr. Bush’s November 2007 International Peace Conference.  You just don’t throw gasoline on a smouldering ember.  That will turn it into a fiery infernal.  Nothing about the UN makes sense.  These anti-Israel bureaucrats just do not know when to let up on their attacks against Israel.  However, I believe we’re at a point of no return because the entire world (including the U.S.) is against Israel.  If Israel were to back out of Mr. Bush’s planned conference, you can essentially say goodbye to American support.
