Christians and Jews in Holy Land alliance

August 21, 2007 -- Sondra Oster Baras is an Orthodox Jew doing an unorthodox job.

 

"If you had asked me 10 years ago what I would be doing with my life, I don't think I would have told you I'd be in church," she said.

 

Baras stumps for money from evangelical Christians to support Jewish settlements in the occupied territories -- land she calls biblical Israel.

A recent stop finds her in Melbourne, Florida, visiting Pastor Gary Christofaro at his First Assembly Church of God.

 

It's controversial in part because in the judgment day scenario embraced by some evangelicals, Jews who don't convert to Christianity burn in hell. But Baras said she isn't worried.

 

"I know that I'm not going to burn in hell because I didn't accept Jesus, because I don't believe Jesus is the Messiah," she said. "So how could I possibly be threatened?"

 

Comments: Bobby of WeDG wrote “My personal opinion of Christiane Amanpour is that she's sympathetic to Pali terrorists more than Israeli citizens, but that's from what I've observed on TV.”

 

Ms. Amanpour is an Iranian thus accounting for her pro-Palestinian stance. Muslims tend to castigate Jews publicly rather than their own religion even though they fight among themselves.  This rather strange alliance between evangelical Christians and Jews can be explained by the fact these Christians truly believe Jews are God’s chosen people and those who help the Jews garner favour with God.  However, recently, there has been a public split among evangelicals.  In one camp, there are those who want a 2-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict while the other camp, labelled Christian Zionists, oppose land concessions in exchange for a false peace and security.

 

For Ms. Baras, Jews who have rejected Jesus Christ as Savior are in imminent danger of ending up in Hell the same as those who have rejected Jesus as their Messiah.  Double jeopardy exists for them who spurned the Holy Son of God.  She’s sincerely mistaken.  All must come individually to Jesus to be saved. There are no Dual Covenant salvation paths, one for Gentiles and one for Jews.  John 8:[24] I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.  Galatians 3:[28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Terror analyst: NYPD report says jihadism in America is long overdue

August 20, 2007 -- An expert on global terrorism is questioning why the FBI or Homeland Security Department hasn't issued a report warning of the "emerging threat" from home-grown jihadists who draw their inspiration from al-Qaida.

 

A report released by the New York Police Department says the jihadi-Salafi ideology is motivating young Muslim men and women, born or living in the West, to carry out terrorist attacks against their host countries. The "radicalization" process, according to the report, is being driven by the Internet. 

 

Comments:  Next month will be the 6^th anniversary of 9/11 and some Americans are feeling mighty edgy about the next round of attacks.  The New York Police Department is prepared, but it seems the FBI and the Homeland Security Department are not warning Americans about the imminent danger of home-grown terrorists, i.e. those already inside the country and could launch random attacks without any direct association with Osama bin Laden.  Al-Qaida’s organized attack plans can be intercepted and headed off at the past, but who really has identified the domestic moms and pops operations that fly below the radar screen?  These fringe groups may have even recruited non-Arab looking all American men to join them in perpetrating local attacks all across the nation.  Electrical transmission lines, nuclear power plants, water supply reservoirs are prime targets.

 

Americans can be excused for living in fear and the blame can be assigned to their security agents.  They’re not doing enough to allay those fears.  No one is safe, not even those living in the corn fields of Nebraska.  Islam has waged war against the “Great Satan America” and young Muslims and their multitude of converts are crazed enough to follow the maddening call by Iran’s president to carry out a jihad (holy war) against the U.S.

Billy Graham suffers more intestinal bleeding

August 20, 2007 -- Evangelist Billy Graham experienced a second episode of intestinal bleeding but remained in fair condition Monday at a hospital near his home in the mountains of western North Carolina, a hospital spokeswoman said.

 

Graham, 88, was fully alert during the morning episode, said Merrell Gregory, a spokeswoman for Mission Health & Hospitals in Asheville. Doctors are performing tests to find the source of the bleeding, she said.

 

Graham has been hospitalized since experiencing an initial bout of intestinal bleeding on Saturday.

 

No date has been set for Graham's release, but family members have said they hoped his hospital stay would be brief. On Sunday, he watched a televised worship service from First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, S.C., and visited with family and friends, hospital officials said.

 

The hospital has said the initial bleeding may have been caused by diverticuli, or small pouches that can form in the lower intestine. A diverticular bleed often begins suddenly and may stop on its own, the hospital said. Graham spokesman Larry Ross said the minister experienced similar intestinal bleeding during his 1995 crusade in Toronto.

 

Comments:  Mr. Graham lost his long time wife and closest earthly friend Ruth earlier this year.  His own health is racked with an assortment of ailments.  He’s indeed living on borrowed time.  Heaven awaits him.  He can be taken home at any moment.  This is similar to the death of June Carter Cash followed shortly by the death of Johnny Cash himself.  Both Johnny Cash and Billy Graham yearned to be taken away from this scene.

 

In Mr. Graham’s case, his entire public ministry has been shrouded in controversy.  Though he started out on the straight and narrow path of preaching the pure Gospel of God, for the past few decades, he had drifted off the pathway and embraced ecumenism with the Roman Catholic Church, his blessing on the charismatic movement, mingled with Democrat and Republican U.S. presidents alike, intimated that all paths lead to Heaven and it really doesn’t matter what one believes as long as a person is sincere, and that he wasn’t sure if he would even end up in Heaven.  Some of it could be due to Parkinson disease and his advanced years, but it could also be attributed to his embracing doctrinal errors as many in Protestantism have done.  There are some evangelicals who pray that he would be taken home before he does more damage to the kingdom of God.  God holds Mr. Graham’s lifelong and His will be done.  2 Corinthians 5:[10] For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Christians embracing scientology

August 20, 2007 -- The Rev. Charles Kennedy travels the country preaching the brilliance of L. Ron Hubbard's words. Children in his after-school program learn with the Scientology founder's methods; church members study one of his books. The minister calls Scientologists the kindest people he's met and their programs the best he's found.

 

One thing sets Kennedy apart: He and his congregants are not Scientologists. They are Christians.

 

Comments:  To call oneself a Christian and yet at the same time extol the virtues of a cult is an affront to real Christians.  Cult adherents follow the erroneous teachings of a charismatic mortal man or woman.  Such teachings are either a dilution of the truth that’s solely found in God’ Word or just blatant lies.  Scientology has L. Ron Hubbard and its super salesman, actor Tom Cruise.  As WeDG’s Issachar said, ”Scientology is the western version of Hinduism” which teaches that we can all be little gods as we connect to the universal consciousness.  Just tap into the spiritual force of light and energy and voila, you’re joined to Lucifer.  Stay away from Scientology if you value your soul!  For those who are believers in Jesus Christ, you’re not only playing loose with the demonic spirit world, you’re also committing spiritual fornication.  We (the Bride of Christ) are to be wedded to the Lamb of God.  That requires that we be chaste.  Why is Rev. Charles Kennedy helping Lucifer promote his Scientology poison?  Mr. Kennedy is a traitor to the faith and a defector.  Could it be that he’s not even saved?  2 Corinthians 13:[5] Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
