WND uncovers federal study warning of high risk in 1998

 

Evidence of increasing international trade truck traffic on Interstate 35 through Minnesota raises concerns that NAFTA Superhighway traffic contributed to last week's collapse of the freeway bridge in Minneapolis.

WND has unearthed a Federal Highway Administration report dating back to 1998 that warned increasing NAFTA truck traffic was expected create a safety concern with bridges in states along the I-35 NAFTA Superhighway, including Minnesota.

 

The study concluded that, "The I-35 Corridor's multimodal transportation hubs – where air, rail, river, and truck cargo converge – make I-35 ideally positioned to be a major route for what is expected to be increasing levels of international trade activity."

 

The study warned that, "Over the next few decades, about 65 percent of I-35 will require major upgrades, however the entire route will have a continued need for rehabilitating pavements, resurfacing sections of the highway, and providing replacements of some bridge decks. Bridge substructures and superstructures will also need to be maintained, requiring repairs to maintain the integrity of the bridges."

 

The FHWA study was conducted in conjunction with the Departments of Transportation in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Minnesota assessed I-35 from Laredo, Texas, to Duluth, Minnesota.

 

A comprehensive study of freight traffic conducted by the Federal Highway Administration, or FHWA, shows conclusively a large percentage of the freight carried through Minnesota is carried by truck.

 

FHWA data show that in 2002, a total of 280.7 million tons of freight moved through Minnesota, 86 percent of which was carried by truck.

 

The trend line shows dramatic increases projected, with freight traffic through Minnesota expected to double by 2035, to a total of 551.5 million tons, of which 88 percent will be carried by truck.

NAFTA is just one of many regional free trade zones (could the trade zones be the 10 kings?) set up around the world.  Encompassing Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, NAFTA is expected to be tied in to all regional zones with the central brain located in the Antichrist’s One World Government body.  No matter how opposed Canadians and Americans are to the growing job losses to the much cheaper Mexican labour, NAFTA is here to stay.  The society of secret ultra wealthy elitists, energized by Satan, plans to even out the wage disparities of each and every Earth citizen.  Reducing labour costs invariably find their way into the coffers of these billionaires.

 

The NAFTA Superhighway is being stealthy foisted on North Americans.  A super wide traffic corridor will be constructed beginning at Texas and ending up in Southern Canada that will transport goods, many made in Mexico, to U.S. and Canadian destinations.  Can you imagine the tonnage of traffic that tramples across bridges built in the 1960s which weren’t designed to handle such traffic volume increases and persistent vibrations/resonance.  More older bridges will collapse and newer more beefed up bridges will take their place, al paid for by American and Canadian taxpayers.  It’s nothing for President Bush to declare on national TV that the Federal Government will contribute some $500M toward the cost of rebuilding the fallen Minneapolis bridge.  So what if the national debt is increased somewhat?  It’s nothing off of his Texas hide.  The government will simply borrow the money or print up more thus driving up inflation and making our money less valuable.

French Cardinal Aaron Lustiger dies at age 80

August 6, 2007 -- He was the converted Jewish Cardinal may thought may play an end-time part in prophecy at one time

 

The former archbishop of the French capital died on Sunday in a clinic to which he was admitted in April.

 

He was born Aaron Lustiger to Polish Jews who had settled in France before World War I, converting to Catholicism at the start of World War II.

 

Once tipped as a possible successor to Pope John Paul II, he was a close friend of the former pontiff.

 

His mother Gisele was deported and killed at the Auschwitz concentration camp. For years his father Charles refused to accept his son's new faith.

 

The senior churchman was archbishop of Paris for 24 years before stepping down in 2005 at the age of 78. He was made a cardinal in 1983.

 

The prelate told priests and deacons in October 2006 that he was receiving treatment for an unspecified "serious illness".

 

The last time he was seen in public was in January this year.

 

French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced the prelate's death in a statement without giving details.

 

An outspoken opponent of racism and anti-Semitism, Cardinal Lustiger followed a conservative line similar to that of the late pontiff.

Today, there’s one less False Prophet candidate.  Cardinal Lustiger was Jewish. Years ago prior to John Paul II's death, WeDGies here surmised that Lustiger could become the next pope and the first Jewish pontiff and a possible False Prophet (FP) candidate.  The world waited patiently for the person to replace the recently deceased John Paul II and the cardinals assembled at the Vatican selected a German cardinal, now called Pope Benedict XVI.  Being that Benedict is aged himself, he was considered to be an interim “caretaker” pope.  A younger and more liberal pontiff will succeed Benedict and will become the last pope prior to Jesus Christ’s physical return to Earth.  Benedict’s successor could possibly be the False Prophet (who will most likely have Jewish blood in that the “land” refers to Israel and he has two horns like a lamb; Jesus was called the Lamb of God) who will serve as the Antichrist’s (AC) right hand man and it will be the FP who will force the Mark of the Beast on every living human being and command each to worship the Antichrist.

 

Cardinal Lustiger is dead and is most likely in Hell awaiting the Great White Throne Judgment (GWTJ) day.  The FP will be cast directly into the Lake of Fire along with his boss (the AC) without going through the GWTJ.

Spanish FM delivers positive message from Syria to Israel’s PM Ehud Olmert

August 6, 2007 -- Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Moratinos recently requested a meeting with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in order to convey a "positive message" from Syrian President Bashar Assad.

 

Moratinos returned several days ago from a visit to the Syrian capital, where he met privately for 45 minutes with Assad, and discussed the possibility of renewing negotiations with Israel.

 

According to sources who accompanied Moratinos, and who passed on information to their Israeli counterparts, the meeting between the senior Spanish official and Assad was "excellent."

 

Moratinos, who had served as special European Union representative to the Middle East, reportedly relayed to Israel that he had heard interesting ideas from the Syrian leader regarding talks with Israel.

 

While requesting a meeting with Olmert, Moratinos said that he had a "special message" to convey from Assad, but refused to specify what it was.

 

"He is interested in furthering the peace process," was all the foreign minister was willing to say.

 

Moratinos added that Assad had told him that "he is familiar with the problems that existed in the past and the various nuances involved, but he is interested in overcoming them."

 

The Spanish foreign minister is scheduled to visit Israel in early September, and even though there has still not been any confirmation of a meeting with Olmert, a source in the Prime Minister's Bureau said there’s no reason for such a meeting not to take place.

 

Comments:  Isaiah 57:[21] There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked. Syria doesn’t really want to go to war against Israel.  Nobody in their right mind wants to take on the world’s No. 5 military.  That’s like the University of North Dakota Gophers taking on the Super Bowl Champs Indianapolis Colts football club.  It would a massacre mercifully called off at halftime with the flattering score: Colts 91 Gophers 0.

 

Syria is a fiercely proud Arab country.  Its president cannot be perceived as kowtowing to the Israelis by grovelling at the feet of Israel begging for the return of the Golan Heights.  Israel is more than willing to return the Heights through direct negotiations.  Syria painted itself into a corner having rejected that notion outright several times.  Instead, it demands no preconditions for the return.  Spain’s mediator position could save face for the Syrians and Spain would do its best to talk to Israel about going half way to appease Syria.  Many Bible prophecy authors and students are keeping an eye on the Antichrist peacemaker candidates such as Spain, Italy, Tony Blair, Prince Charles and Jordan King Abdullah.

Mideast peace conference to be in the USA; ASAP downgraded to "soon"

August 7, 2007 -- In their first meeting on Palestinian soil, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday he hopes to launch negotiations "soon" on establishing a Palestinian state, his clearest promise yet to tackle a final peace deal.

 

The Palestinians said that after years of delay, it's now time to start talking about the terms of Palestinian statehood, including final borders, removal of Israeli settlements and how to divide Jerusalem.

 

Israel wants to move ahead more slowly, in part because previous talks in 2000 collapsed over the so-called core issues and because Olmert may not be strong enough politically to make far-reaching concessions.

 

However, the United States has been prodding both sides to make progress ahead of a Mideast peace conference which is to be held in the United States in November.

 

Olmert also appears eager to prop up the moderate Abbas, particularly after the Islamic militant Hamas seized Gaza by force in June, routing the forces loyal to the Palestinian president.

 

Olmert delivered his mixed message to Abbas on Monday, holding out hope for a resumption of negotiations, but saying it's still too early to start.

 

"I came here in order to discuss with you the fundamental issues outstanding between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, hoping that this will lead us soon into negotiations about the creation of a Palestinian state," Olmert said, standing next to Abbas and framed by the Israeli and Palestinian flags.

 

Comments:  Why the USA once again?! Why not Madrid, Rome, Oslo or even neutral Bern Switzerland? Seems to me that this might be a repeat of Camp David II in the Summer of 2000.  Back then, President Bill Clinton tried the hardest of all past presidents to get Israel and the Palestinians to agree to a peace treaty and he almost succeeded.  Only Yasser Arafat’s defiant “No” torpedoed the proposed deal.

 

Back then, the Arab/Muslim world decried the bias of America toward Israel and predicted that Camp David II would fail miserably and it did.  Seven years later, the U.S. is still viewed as Israel’s ally and that American involvement in mediating Mideast peace will never succeed.  Not only has U.S. Secretary of State Condi Rice been given the main role of setting up and mediating Mideast peace, the American venue for the so called Mideast peace conference is preparing the world to expect the same outcome as in 2000.  Today, PM Ehud Olmert has lessened his enthusiasm for a fast tracked deal and instead, wants to take it slow and easy.  Maybe he sought out his advisors’ advice or perhaps, he’s beginning to come to his senses.  Now, if he were to completely withdraw from the entire process, he would be honouring God, but he would be precipitating a major war with his enemies.  It’s not easy being prime minister of Israel, but someone has to make the hard decisions.  Ezekiel 13:[16] To wit, the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace, saith the Lord GOD.
