Russian President Putin tries anew to stop missile shield

Russian President Vladimir Putin sought anew Monday to bat down U.S. plans to build a missile defense shield in Eastern Europe, proposing that the system be expanded and largely Russian-based.

 

Neither President Bush nor his aides reacted definitively to the surprise idea, Putin's second in less than a month on the topic that has sent U.S.-Russian relations into a tailspin.

 

Comments:  Sly as a fox is what Putin is and the chicken henhouse keeper George W. Bush is suspicious and he ought to be.  It’s ludicrous that a missile defence shield intended to detect conventional and nuclear missiles fired by Iran, North Korea and perhaps Russia would be Russian‑based.  That’s akin to giving potential thieves a key to your house and hope they don’t use it to break into your abode and ransack the place.  No, Europe must be protected against Russia, first and foremost and Ukraine (which has stockpiles of nukes).  Iran, North Korea, India and Pakistan are secondary first strike nuke states.  Poland and the Czech Republic must be protected for they are prone to a Russian attack for their defection to the West.  Putin thinks he has the U.S. President Bushwacked, but for the free West’s sake, Mr. Bush better keep a wary eye on the Russian fox.

Evolutionists, Creationists reminded of Darwin's support for Christian missions

The man most often pinpointed as the root of the clashes between atheist evolutionists and Christian creationists was actually a life-long defender of Christian missionary works, reminded the author of a recent report.

 

Charles Darwin, best known as the father of the evolution theory, was not anti-religion as many nowadays believe, but rather he had planned to be an Anglican priest and was moved by missionary efforts to reach uncivilized people.

 

“I don’t think Darwin would recognize his defenders today and probably wouldn’t understand his attackers,” said cultural historian Mark Graham of Grove City College in Pennsylvania to USA Today.

 

As part of the H.M.S. Beagle voyage, Darwin came in contact with mission activities already taking place at some of the ship’s stops. He was impressed by the good works performed by the missionaries who greeted the members of the ship and became convinced missionaries helped natives to become civilized.

 

 

… his evolution theory has continued to spark opposition more than a century later from many Christians who believe that the Bible’s creation story should be interpreted to mean man and animal have always been in their present form.

 

However, other Christians, such as prominent geneticist Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Human Genome Project, argue that there is nothing contradictory in believing in evolution and the Bible’s creation story.

 

Collins, like many other theistic evolutionists, believes evolution is part of God’s creation process. He points to the Bible, highlighting that the same science evolution process in terms of formation chronology is found in the Bible.

 

“Is evolution really the enemy of faith?” questioned Collins during a recent speech at the famed Washington National Cathedral. “I don’t think so at all! ...Who are we to say that we wouldn’t have done it in quite that way?”

 

Darwin, despite his support for missionary work, died an agnostic that was never antagonistic towards religion. His wife and children attended church without his objection, according to Graham.

 

Comments:  Genesis 1:[1] In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  Do not shed tears for Charles Darwin.  This willing dupe of the Devil knew exactly what he was doing when he introduced the vile theory of evolution.  It was a lie straight from the pit of Hell.  He called God a liar. He wanted to be an Anglican priest so he can travel to far away places with strange sounding names and start missions to teach the natives Christian values, i.e. good works?   We know that good works never saved anyone (faith alone in Jesus does).  I know a few atheists and agnostics who commend people for doing good deeds so there would be a free thinking society with sound morals and law abiding citizens.  Those who deny or doubt God’s existence love law and order.  Good people end up in Hell.  Saved people enter Heaven.  Titus 3:[5] Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.  Ephesians 2:[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Hillsong Church emphasizes justice as 26,000 attend annual conference

Australia’s most well known megachurch, Hillsong Church, began its annual five-day Hillsong conference on Monday, drawing together 26,000 Christians from all around the world.

 

Though the church is most well known for its music ministry, the focus of this year’s conference is on justice and what Christians can do to reduce the sufferings that plague the world.

 

There are 19 different denominations from 68 countries attending the conference, and a major issue to be dealt with by all of them is AIDS and poverty in Africa, according to opening remarks by Gary Skinner, leader of Kampala Pentecostal Church and founder of Watoto Child Care Ministries.

 

"The world is on an accumulation binge,” explained the Ugandan pastor to the large crowd, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. “God is not a grabber; He is a giver."

 

A main goal for the conference is to also dispel the criticisms that have surrounded the Hillsong Church in regard to humanitarian and social issues. Many leaders have argued that the church is too focused on the prosperity gospel and only personal enlightenment rather than aiding others. They have said that the church’s focus is too outward and heavily founded only on music without substance as well.

 

According to Hillsong pastor Brian Houston, the church has always been concerned for justice and the well-being of everyone.

 

Comments:  Have you noticed that since Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins created and sold their Left Behind series of books and movies that the Protestant churches have concentrated more on the social gospel?  This humanistic gospel of helping our fellow man feed, clothe and help himself and striving for the end to poverty and social injustice won’t save a soul.  It’s works based and not faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  A once impoverish peasant may now be wearing a polyester suit and eat 2 square meals a day, but if he were to be struck down with a fatal illness, he’ll end up in Hell nevertheless.  Jesus never made the social gospel His No. 1 priority.  His mission was to do His Father’s will and that meant going to the cross of Calvary to suffer, die and bleed so that our sins can be forgiven.  After His resurrection from the dead, He commanded His believers to go out into all the world and preach the Gospel (Good News) to every creature and make disciples out of them.  Nothing about eradicating poverty or promoting human rights.  But the post-modern Christians know better than their Master.  So many will indeed be Left Behind.

 

The prosperity gospel is self-based and turns inward and the social gospel is branching out to others.  Neither is God based.  The true Gospel of God gives glory to Jesus for His saving grace.

Poll: 64% of Israelis want a Jewish PM

A clear majority of Israelis - 64 percent - including 31% of Arabs, take a positive view of legislation that would ensure that only a Jew can be elected prime minister, according to a new poll.

 

Comments:  It’s not surprising that the majority of Israelis prefer a Jewish prime minister.  The daunting part is that it wasn’t a clear majority like over 90%.  There are 6 million Jews and 1 million Arabs within Israel.  Israel is a re-established nation that God brought back from dry bones.  It belongs to the descendants of Isaac, not the descendants of Ishmael.  To have an Arab lead Israeli is unthinkable and God would not approve.  (This is not the Vatican in which a pope need not be an Italian.)  Even the present day secular Jewish leadership displeases God with their rejection of Jesus and their blindly giving away of the Promised Land to Israel’s enemies. The future leader will be the Antichrist whom many Bible prophecy lovers think will be a Gentile who comes out of the EU.  Some speculate that he will have some sprinkling of Jewish blood in him.

 

Ya'alon: Land for peace concept failed

The concept of land for peace is a proven failure in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and any future withdrawal of Israeli troops from the West Bank will create a 'Hamastan' there too, former Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. (res.) Moshe Ya'alon said Wednesday.

 

The former military chief said that Hamas's takeover of the Gaza Strip and the creation of "the first Jihadist Arab entity" on Israel's doorstep last month was "the last nail on the coffin" in a string of faulty conceptions about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict which have been the earmark of Israeli and Western policy for decades.

 

"The strengthening of Hamas after the Israeli pullout from Gaza and the Hamas takeover of Gaza necessitate a renewed examination of Israeli and international conceptions about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict which, to my mind, are no longer relevant," Ya'alon said in an address organized by the Shalem Center, a Jerusalem research institute, on the ramifications of the Hamas takeover of Gaza.

 

Comments:  The four scenarios are: (1) Israel stands firm and gives away no land (2) Israel gives the majority of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip to the Fatah Party (3) Hamas takes over the Gaza Strip (Hamastan) with Fatah nervously clinging to the West Bank (Fatahland) (4) Hamas takes control of both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.  Well, forget about Scenario No. 1 which is water under the bridge and can never be undone.  Scenario No. 2 is what the dreamers in the White House and in West Jerusalem want to return to. Scenario No. 3 is the current situation and poised to become Scenario No. 4.

 

If Scenario No. 4 should come about, Israel is prepared to wage war at two fronts (Gaza Strip and West Bank).  When you think of it, Scenario No. 4 may work into Israel’s hands after all.  Hamas would have no place to hide and would be easy pickings for Israel’s mighty military.
