Two-state solution to Israeli-Palestinian conflict not viable, Israeli analysts say
Source: CNSNews.com
The notion that there is a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict -- embraced by the current Israeli government and backed by the Bush administration -- is not a viable way to resolve the dispute, some analysts here are saying.
Reserve Maj.-Gen. Giora Eiland, a former head of Israel's National Security Council, said that even if one accepts the idea that P.A. Chairman Mahmoud Abbas wants such a solution and has sincere Palestinian backing, there are a number of insurmountable obstacles.
First, Hamas is militarily strong enough, even if it were not in control of the Gaza Strip and had not won Palestinian parliamentary elections last year, to undermine every possibility of political progress, Eiland told Cybercast News.
Comments: Isaiah 57:[21] There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked. A separate Palestinian state was highly probable when Yasser Arafat was alive and in charge, but with the recent physical takeover of the seaside Gaza Strip by militant and religious Hamas, all bets are off. Now, there appears to be a 3-state conundrum. Unless Hamas agrees to amalgamate with the ‘moderate’ Fatah Party, Hamas won’t go away any time soon. Like love, it’s here to stay. It would be akin to genocide if Israel exterminates Hamas militarily not to mention Iran, Syria and other radical Islamic countries would wage an immediate counter‑war to exact vengeance on the ‘Zionist murderers’. U.S. President Bush really blew it last year when he allowed the Palestinian people ‘democratic’ elections which installed the people’s favourite, Hamas. I agree with the Israeli analysts that peace in the Middle East is more difficult than ever. That region will need the sage wisdom of King Solomon to address the seemingly insolvable problems. Who could that problem solver be?
Andy:
Oh, that Israel would learn from their own history! Back a
few thousand years ago king Ahaz refused to submit to the LORD God
Almighty and also turned to the very enemies of Israel for help.
2 Chronicles 28:16 At that time did king Ahaz send unto the kings of
Assyria to help him.
Ahaz refused to listen to the LORD - in fact in his folly he repeatedly tried to solicit and BUY help from their enemies...just as Israel is doing today. There are those that you simply can not make peace with. God demands a broken and contrite spirit before Him (Psalm 34:18).
What ever happened to Ahaz? Here is a little more of the sad story:
2 Chronicles 28:21 For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of
the LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and
gave it unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.
2 Chronicles 28:22 And in the time of his distress did he trespass
yet more against the LORD: this is that king Ahaz.
2 Chronicles 28:23 For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus,
which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria
help them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help
me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.
2 Chronicles 28:24 And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the
house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and
shut up the doors of the house of the LORD, and he made him altars
in every corner of Jerusalem.
2 Chronicles 28:25 And in every several city of Judah he made high
places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger the
LORD God of his fathers.
Try to make deals with those that hate God, refuse to turn your heart to Him and He will allow suffering. God WILL be glorified.
Sadly, as Leo hinted above, they will continue to turn to the wrong source for help...one day they will place their entire security into the hands of one who will eventually all but destroy Jerusalem. They will make a covenant with death.
Isaiah 28:15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with
death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing
scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have
made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
Isaiah 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in
Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner
stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
Isaiah 28:17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness
to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies,
and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
Isaiah 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and
your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing
scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
(Isaiah prophecied during king Ahaz' rule)

Demonstration in Rome to 'Save the Christians'
Source: ASSIST News Service
Several hundred people rallied in Rome on Wednesday, July 4th, to demand an end to the persecution of Christians in the Middle East that has forced thousands to flee the region, taking up a concern voiced recently by Pope Benedict XVI, says an Associated Press (AP) story.
“The demonstration was the brainchild of Magdi Allam, Italy's leading Islamic commentator. It was endorsed by several top Vatican officials, including Archbishop Leonardo Sandri, prefect of the Congregation for Eastern Churches,” said the AP story.
Comments: 2 Timothy 3:[12] Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. How hypocritical of Rome to host this rally! It was Rome that persecuted the early day Christians who were beheaded (the Apostle Paul), crucified (the Apostle Peter was crucified upside down) and many were thrown to the lions to be mauled and killed while Roman senators, centurions and the citizens watched with sadistic pleasure. Later when the pontiff was established, it was the succession of popes who had believers rounded up to be burned at the stake for heresy against the Romish Church. During the Crusades, the popes garner the support of European Catholic kings to journey to the Holy Land to free it from the Muslims. In the process, the knights and foot soldiers slaughtered millions of Jews, Muslims and Christians. The blood of the slain is on the hands of the Vatican. Yes, Muslims ought to refrain from persecuting and putting to death the nominal Christians in the Middle East. But for Rome to plead their case is without credibility given that the Vatican has never officially admitted culpability in its murders.

Israeli missile warfare experts ponder pre-emptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities
Source: Jerusalem Post
If the US or Israel bombs Iran's nuclear facilities, can Iran strike back at Israel with weapons of mass destruction? This is obviously a vital question to answer before deciding whether to use the "military option." Unfortunately, there is no one conclusive answer.
Yiftah Shapir, an expert on missile warfare at Tel Aviv University's Institute for National Strategic Studies (formerly the Jaffee Center for Strategic Studies), a leading strategic think tank, says Iran might well be able to retaliate with chemical weapons - meaning poison gas or liquid loaded onto missiles.
However, he continues, chemically-armed missiles aren't much more destructive than conventionally-armed ones, so the damage would be comparable to the surprisingly little harm caused by Iraqi Scuds in the 1991 Gulf War. As for the worst-case scenario - an Iranian retaliation with biological weapons, such as bubonic plague or anthrax, or nerve gas - it's highly unlikely that Iran has or will have the ability to successfully fire missiles with such warheads, Shapir says.
Ephraim Kam, an expert on Iran at the same institute, doesn't think Iran can retaliate against Israel with either chemical or biological weapons - for now. However, he thinks it could have the ability to do so in another three or four years.
Comments: With so many computations and possibilities, it’s a miracle these so called experts can get any sleep. There comes a time when brainstorming and analyzing come to an end and action must proceed. What is Israel waiting for? In 1981, she flew in Iraq and bombed the living daylights out of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear pet project and only a mild Arab protest ensued. With Iran not on the friendship list of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt, Kuwait, UAE and Jordan, the Arab-Egyptian backlash will be minimal. The major unknown is radical Islam’s reaction to a decimated Iran with plumes of smoke ascending into the atmosphere after wave upon wave of B-52 Bombers delivering a payload of bunker busting bombs and retrofitted F14s and F15s strafing Iran’s suspected fortified underground nuclear facilities. Would Syria, Russia and Pakistan come to Iran’s assistance by punishing Israel for her bold pre-emptive strikes? If Israel was assured that no major retribution would follow, she would have launched such attacks by now. Sometimes inaction will worsen the situation. Strike while the iron is hot.

Triple-digit heat searing Western U.S.
Source: CNN.com/Associated Press
When the mercury hit 104, Rick Overton took his colleagues tubing on the Boise River, thinking it couldn't get much hotter.
A day later, parts of the West were in for a little relief, but not everywhere -- Boise was expected to hit 107 degrees Friday.
"Once it gets that high -- 105, 107, 109 -- it just feels hot," said Overton, a copywriter for the digital marketing firm Wirestone.
Comments: Global warming pundits such as Al Gore would rave and rant about the searing heat being caused by runaway fossil fuel burning. Many would nod in agreement with him. Those who know the truth believe this heat wave is more of God’s doing than environmentally induced. Even Bible prophecy lovers postulate that a gracious and merciful God warns the inhabitants of Earth of the soon coming global judgments through these previews. The localized flooding and heat waves speak loud and clear to those affected that God wants people to get right with Jesus. Life is very brief. Don’t plan to stay here for a long time. Don’t listen to those who are working to establish a Heaven on Earth and that Jesus won’t return for thousands of years if ever. Sin produces consequences including abject suffering and lost of lives and property. Some people do get saved after ‘natural’ disasters when they thank God for sparing their lives and the realization that they could have been tallied among the dead. They pick through the rubble to assess their earthly losses and come to a realization that it’s just things that aren’t important in the long run, but the soul’s salvation. Job 33:[14] For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. Mark 8:[36] For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Revelation 16:[9] And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Experts: Pills becoming the new marijuana on campus
Source: CNN.com
The prescription drugs allegedly found in Al Gore III's possession this week are favorites among young people, according to drug abuse experts, who say prescription drugs may soon overtake street drugs in popularity.
Some young people perceive that prescription drugs are safer than street drugs, experts say.
"I wouldn't be surprised if right now at this point in time, there are more kids abusing prescription drugs than abusing marijuana," said Joseph A. Califano Jr., chairman and president of CASA, the National Center on Alcohol and Substance Abuse at Columbia University.
Gore was arrested on charges of possessing -- in addition to marijuana -- Vicodin, Xanax, Valium and Adderall.
According to a CASA report, between 1993 and 2005 the proportion of college students abusing Vicodin and other opiods went up 343 percent, about 240,000 individuals. The numbers increased 450 percent, or by 170,000 students, for tranquilizers such as Xanax and Valium, and 93 percent, or 225,000 students, for stimulants, including Adderall.
Comments: Ecclesiastes 8:[15] Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun. For the masses of unsaved souls, eat, drink and be merry are the stated rituals of their mundane lives. Each day, it’s wake up, shower, dress, have breakfast, go to work at a boring 9 to 5 job, leave work, go home, take a shower, go out and paint the town red, come home and go to bed. The same old, same old gets tiring very quickly. Freedom 65 down the long stretch of road means vegetate into nothingness and then die like a dog. Is it any wonder, millions get all drugged up in order to find an escape from the daily prison they find themselves in. Death would be a welcome relief from this mortal existence.
Each year, millions of young people end it all due to the despair of a life without any purpose. In between, youths borrow and steal to obtain illicit mind and mood altering drugs. Those with less money are now into prescription drugs. Pop them like crazy. Many pills put them in a trance like state. They enter into the realm of demons that project psychedelic imageries. It’s like they have entered La La Land or Oz. It’s a fantasy world that displaces the ugliness of reality. Virtual reality is what it is and it’s addictive. They’ve become slaves of the Devil. Not only has he blinded the minds of all who don’t believe in Jesus, but the Devil has them in a vice-like grip with pharmaceutical drugs that block all possible escape routes from the Devil’s penitentiary where they do hard time, some for an eternity.
