Taliban extend deadline for Korean hostages
Source: Yahoo! News / Reuters

By Sayed Salahuddin

The Taliban on Monday gave 23 Korean hostages another 24 hours to live to allow the South Korean government to open direct talks with the kidnappers, a Taliban spokesman said on Monday.

Spokesman Qari Mohammad Yousuf said negotiations with the Afghan government were going nowhere and South Korea had until 1430 GMT on Tuesday to agree to withdraw its 200 troops from Afghanistan. Unless it did so, the Taliban would start killing the captives.

It was the second time the Taliban had extended their deadline by 24 hours.

Yousuf said a German hostage the Taliban had said they had killed was still alive along with four Afghans and they were still held hostage.

The same spokesman had previously said two German engineers and five Afghans seized by the Taliban had been killed. He said the group holding them had told him they were about to kill the hostages as government troops were closing in on them and then he had lost touch with the militants as they made their escape.

Neither Germany nor South Korea has shown any sign they might give in to Taliban demands and pull their troops out, nor has Kabul indicated it would release Taliban prisoners as also demanded by the Islamist guerrillas.

"We will not give in to blackmail," said German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Comments: And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshiped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (Rev 20:4 KJVR)

While American Christians, by and large, enjoy comfort and security, the mission fields are an increasingly dangerous place. We have been shocked by the beheadings, and rumors of crucifixions in Muslim countries around the world. Here are twenty-three young Christians about to lay down their lives for the witness of Jesus, and it makes me wonder what I’ve given up lately. The only answer I can come up with is “not much” and I stand ashamed. Let’s all be in prayer that a solution will be found before these young men and women are brutally murdered.

Qaeda vows violence campaign in North Africa: Web
Source: Yahoo! News / Reuters

By Inal Ersan

Al Qaeda's North Africa wing said on Monday it was planning a violent campaign against "infidels" and government forces in the region and urged Muslims to stay away from possible targets.

"We call on all our Muslim brothers to stay away from the centers and gathering (points) of infidels and apostates," the Al Qaeda Organization in the Islamic Maghreb said in a statement posted on the Internet.

"The mujahideen are set to attack their quarters, centers and barracks with all means of detonation, bombing and demolition possible," it added.

The authenticity of the statement could not be verified, but it was posted on a Web site used by Islamist militant groups including al Qaeda and key Iraqi insurgent factions.

The Algerian-based group claimed responsibility for triple suicide bombings in Algiers on April 11 that killed 33 people.

Comments: I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to state that World War III is already upon us. This is a different kind of war from any other we have fought. Our foe is more than willing to die in order to take as many of us with him as possible. Kidnapping, suicide bombings and other types of terror attacks are the order of the day. Add to the growing violence the increasing frequency of natural disasters in this world and it paints quite a familiar picture:  And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. (Luke 21:28-32 KJV)

It is obvious from the context that Jesus was speaking of the generation which saw the renewal of Israel. The question is: how long is a generation? Some say 40 years, some say 70, but I say: Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. (Matthew 24:42 KJV)

Seventy years from the rebirth of Israel is 2018. Forty years from the recapture of Jerusalem is 2007. I’m not into date setting, but it seems to me that the trumpet could sound at any moment. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. (Revelation 22:20 KJV)

Blair Begins Role as Middle East Envoy
Source: NY Times

By ISABEL KERSHNER

JERUSALEM, July 23 — Tony Blair, the former British prime minister, plunged into his new role today as special envoy of the quartet of Middle East peacemakers, raising many questions about what he can achieve.

Mr. Blair went first to Amman, Jordan, where he met with the foreign minister, Abdel Ilah al-Khatib. He then proceeded to Jerusalem for a round of meetings with Israeli leaders, including the foreign minister, Tzipi Livni and the defense minister, Ehud Barak.

On Tuesday, Mr. Blair was scheduled to head to nearby Ramallah, in the West Bank, to meet with the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, and Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. He was then scheduled to return to Jerusalem for a working dinner with the Israeli prime minister, Ehud Olmert.

Comments: They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. (Jeremiah 6:14 KJV)

The so-called Quartet is fond of speaking of peace when all the signs right now point to war. I feel that we are rushing headlong towards the covenant with many, but that we will first see another Israeli-Arab war. A new round of war will certainly see Syria lobbing rockets into Israeli population centers, and who knows how Israel will retaliate. Indeed, look for a war terrible enough to cause both sides to welcome a peace proposal from any source. Indeed, the balloon could go up in the next few weeks.

Peace is a good thing, but Israel needs to count the cost. Giving up more of her God-given territory is not the answer, but we all know it will happen. Woe unto the nations who force Israel to divide the land. Recent reports have Olmert ready to give away Judea and Samaria.  We are rapidly approaching the end game.

If you don’t know Jesus, now is the time to seek Him. It’s as simple as following the Romans Road to Salvation. Make your peace with God today.

UK Official: Worst floods In modern history

Source: news.sky.com

Britain is suffering its worst flooding in living memory, leaving tens of thousands of people without power or water.

There have been mass evacuations across central and southern England with thousands of homes flooded.

Two of Britain's major rivers - the Avon and the Severn - have already burst their banks.

The Thames is in danger of bursting soon, threatening areas in the Home Counties and London.

Comments:  Did God send these massive floods upon Britain because of new Mideast envoy Tony Blair’s current involvement in the world community’s “let’s divide Israel for gain”?  Mr. Blair is a Brit who after stepping down as prime minister decided that his new calling in life is to be a Middle East peace mediator and we know from the Old Testament that God is irate when the Gentile nations attempt to take away Israel’s real estate.  This topic of God’s use of ‘nature’ to speak to such perpetrators is a contentious issue among Christians.  On the one hand, you have believers who think such disasters are pure coincidence (just like other world events) and on the other side of the coin are Christians who are convinced that God does use natural calamities to speak to the offending nations.  They would point to hurricanes forming in the Gulf of Mexico and tornadoes that killed people and brought devastation to homes and businesses just after President Bush renewed his efforts to jump start the Mideast peace process.  These believers also prescribe to the notion that powerful immensely wealthy elitists of this world are directing world events behind the scenes to bring about their New World Order of global government.  Kings, queens, presidents, prime ministers, and pawns do their bidding or else.

The worst flooding in 60 years in Britain is a wake up call from God.  There’s no doubt that God of Heaven is speaking to Brits who have seen their once mighty empire humbly reduced to a shell of its former self.  Its citizens have pretty well given up on God and the Bible as evidenced by the declining single digit percentage of church goers. The liberal Protestantism’s spiritualizing of God’s Word and the acceptance of the gay and lesbian agenda (gay clergy and same sex unions) has contributed to God’s cup of wrath about to spill over.  Job 33:[14] For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.

Canada’s PM Stephen Harper celebrates opening of $40M Hindu temple in Toronto

Source: CBC NEWS

A massive $40-million Hindu temple that is being called an architectural wonder, constructed with ancient techniques and 2,000 volunteers, had its official opening Sunday near Toronto's airport.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty helped open the 95,000-square-foot building — Canada's first marble Hindu temple — on Sunday.

Made of Turkish limestone and Italian marble, hundreds of artisans in India, trained in the ancient Vedic tradition, carved 24,000 pieces using a chisel and hammer. These pieces were shipped to Toronto by boat and then assembled much like a massive jigsaw puzzle with interlocking sections.

"So this whole thing has no nails, no steel," explains Sejal Maisuri to CBC News. Maisuri is among the countless volunteers who spent two years helping put the temple together.

In a release, McGuinty noted Ontario's "large, vibrant Indo-Canadian community" and its "strong commitment to celebrating our diversity.

"I know this Mandir will thrive here," McGuinty said. "I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to build this beautiful complex - it is a wonderful gift to Ontario and to Canada."

Comments:  Tolerance of other faiths and religions is a sin as I read it.  The very first Commandment is broken (not that we’re to keep the 10 Commandments), but the principle of loving and worshipping only the God of Heaven and His Son Jesus is the same.  All other beliefs are religious based on demonic deities and idols.  Believing in them is a guaranteed one-way ticket to Hell.  In Canada, first it was the creation of the hit comedy “Little Mosque on the Prairie” extolling the niceties of Islam and now Canada has the largest marble Hindu temple in North America, not exactly an honour to crow about.  The fact that a professing Christian named Stephen Harper, the leader of the Canadian Government, lends legitimacy to the Hindu religion of a million plus deities and perpetual reincarnation.  If Mr. Stephen is a believer in Christ, he could have simply said “No thanks” to an invitation to the opening ceremonies.

His government has lent its hand at furthering the Middle East process of land giveaway in exchange for a false peace and security.  When the Western world’s leaders pay lip service to God and continue to pressure Israel to hand over large parcels of her land to her enemies, God gives them up to their own devices and that includes the embracing of false gods and religions.  Canada is following the thorny path of its parent Great Britain.  Leviticus 19:[4] Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.  Matthew 22:[37] Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Envoy Tony Blair sees 'sense of possibility' in the Middle East

Source: Jerusalem Post

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, making his first public comments as the international community's Middle East peace envoy, on Tuesday urged Israeli and Palestinian leaders to take advantage of a new "sense of possibility" in the region.

Blair, who arrived in Israel on Monday on his maiden voyage, said he had come "to listen, learn and reflect" during two days of meetings with Israeli and Palestinian leaders. But already, he said he sensed a willingness by both sides to make progress.

"I think there is a sense of possibility, but whether that sense of possibility can be translated into something, that is something that needs to be worked at and thought about over time," Blair said after meeting President Shimon Peres in Jerusalem.

Comments:  The “never say never” Tony Blair is drenched with unbridled enthusiasm.  It doesn’t hurt when he’s in the company of Israel’s new President Shimon “I never disliked a peace deal” Peres.  Together, these covert Israel destroyers are flashing their Jimmy Carter’s “Steinway white piano keys” smiles to the media.  This Mutt and Jeff duo will be working side by side to bring about the “mission impossible”, a comprehensive Middle East peace agreement.  (He may have sought out some advice from actor Tom Cruise.)

The optimism has never been so high.  Many are jumping on the Blair-Peres travelling show band wagon.  But, Tony Blair suffers from a huge image problem.  The Arabs view his role with suspicion believing that the former President Bush lapdog is still on the American president’s pet list.  Britain is considered a close ally of the U.S. and Arabs and Muslims distrust them both.  This is Mr. Blair major hurdle.  Oh well, even if he can’t mediate Middle East peace, he will have enjoyed his trips to the Holy Land.  His predecessors have failed and he won’t be the last mediator to go down in flames.  Perhaps, he’s preparing more groundwork for the real mediator of peace, Satan’s son of perdition, the Antichrist.  Daniel 11:[39] Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.

Dr. James Dobson officially renounces 'Harry Potter'

Source: THE CHRISTIAN POST

In the statement, the conservative pro-family ministry explained that FOTF founder Dr. James Dobson has never endorsed books or films from the megahit fantasy series, and that many papers mistakenly reported that he had given them an OK for Christian families.

The posting directly confronts the Washington Post, which published an article about what Christians think of the craze, and how the reporter had incorrectly assumed that Dobson favoured the boy wizard.

“In a story about Christians' views on the Harry Potter books and films, reporter Jacqueline Salmon wrote that ‘Christian parenting guru James Dobson has praised the Potter books,’” the statement read. “This is the exact opposite of Dr. Dobson's opinion – in fact, he said a few years ago on his daily radio broadcast that ‘We have spoken out strongly against all of the Harry Potter products.’”

The reason the ministry leader is against the material is obvious given the presence of magical characters (witches, wizards, ghosts, goblins, werewolves, poltergeists and so on) in the Harry Potter stories.

“[A]nd given the trend toward witchcraft and New Age ideology in the larger culture,” FOTF added, “it's difficult to ignore the effects such stories (albeit imaginary) might have on young, impressionable minds.”

Comments:  Who’s on the Lord’s side? (see Exodus 32:26)  Well, Dr. James Dobson, the famed conservative Christian family counsellor is!  This believer has stood firm against author J.K. Rowling’s hellish writings that promote witchcraft for the young and impressionable.  Why can’t (or won’t) Christians see that?  There’s no harmless witchcraft which originated from the pit of Hell.  Occultism and New Age wizardry have permeated this world of sin and depravity.  Lucifer, the fallen angel of light and his legions of demons are determined to usurp God’s from His throne.  Lucifer needs worshippers.  Mind control is his main weapon.  People are susceptible to suggestions.  What better for Lucifer than to tell them that they too can have magical powers and be like Harry Potter?  Who doesn’t want to perform marvellous things?  So, we have demons and guardian angels wrestling with each in the spirit realm.  The battles are ferocious and precious souls are at stake.

Dr. Dobson has tossed his hat down to indicate his allegiance.  He’s decidedly on the Lord’s side.  It’s a “no witchcraft fly zone” in his household and he prays fervently that will be the case in every Christian abode.  To J.K. Rowling, other witches, wizards and promoters of Harry Potter, a sober warning: 2 Chronicles 33:[6] And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
