There are big bucks to be made in alternative energy sector: Just ask Al Gore

Love him or loathe him, call him an eco-hero or a pocket-lining opportunist, you've got to give Al Gore his due.

The former U.S. vice-president and author of An Inconvenient Truth knows how to get his message out -- and how to make big bucks doing it.

 

Almost single-handedly, The Goracle has made climate change the top issue of our time.

 

What's less well-known is that Gore is also a shrewd businessman. Aside from the six-figure fees he pockets off his many speaking gigs, he's made tens of millions of dollars in stock option profits from U.S. tech giants such as Google.

 

Gore is also co-founder and chairman of a London-based investment fund that's focused on his favourite cause -- environmental sustainability -- and which now boasts roughly US$1 billion under management.

 

Fast Forward, a U.S. tech magazine, recently estimated Gore's net worth at US$100 million. Plenty for him to afford three homes, including a newly acquired multimillion-dollar condo in San Francisco.

  

Clearly, climate change is paying off big for Al Gore. But what about you and me? Can regular investors capitalize on the world's growing fear of fossil fuel stoked hot air by generating fat profits off alternative energy stocks?

 

Absolutely, says Duncan Stewart, Deloitte Canada's director of research for technology, media, telecom and life sciences, and an ex-fund manager who owned a variety of alternative energy plays.

 

"At Deloitte we believe this is going to be one of the world's next big industries. We believe that not just millions, but billions -- and possibly trillions -- of dollars of capital will be invested and made," he says.

 

"It's obviously important to figure out the ones that are the fads, versus the ones that will be long-term winners. But we believe we are in the very early stages of this."

 

Comments:  The truth will not be suppressed any longer.  The Gores’ Cheshire cat is finally let out of the bag.  The main reason Al “with Gore, you get more” Gore is so zealously promoting saving the planet is because he’s going to get richer the more Earth’s citizens buy into his “Inconvenient Truth” sham.  So, he’s worth at least $100 million.  Whoopee doo doo!  How will all his riches help him in a coming day when he will stand before Judge Jesus at the Great White Throne and defend himself against the charges of being a Christ rejecter and deceiving masses of people to embrace the Devil’s pagan based Mother Earth religion?  His $100 million won’t even allow him to have highly paid counsel plead his case.  No, Al Gore is a New Age deceiver and a charlatan and bands of deluded followers are being pied pipered into perdition all the while singing “We are the world”.  But, take heart readers.  The environmental friendly initiatives will be short lived as God’s book of Revelation will soon be played out in that God’s immense wrath will be poured out on Earth’s inhabitants and their idol Mother Earth (Gaia).  Mountains, the Earth’s strata, the atmosphere, vegetation, oceans, rivers and lakes will be blasted, rocked, polluted, scorched, burned and turned into crimson blood.  Revelation 3:[10] Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Wizardly gifts that would catch even Harry's eye

Harry Potter entered the wizard shopping district known as Diagon Alley and was amazed by what he saw.

 

"Harry wished he had eight more eyes," J.K. Rowling wrote in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, her first book about the boy wizard and his adventures at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. For Harry, Diagon Alley offered a cornucopia of robes, eels' eyes, spell books, quills, potion bottles and magic wands.

 

If Harry jumped out of the book and entered any major bookstore these days, he might be equally overwhelmed.

 

A stepped-up sales blitz of Potter-themed merchandise is under way thanks to the perfect storm of the release July 21 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- the seventh and final book in the series -- and the fifth movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which comes out Wednesday.

 

The strategy is an about-face from 2005, when book No. 6, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, hit shelves. Booksellers then scaled back on Potter paraphernalia, which didn't sell as well during the lead-up to the fifth novel, 2003's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

 

"There is some truth to that," said Lynn Popham, manager of McNally Robinson for Kids in Winnipeg. "(One manufacturer) made a lot of plush toys, but they were quite expensive, and they didn't sell as well as anyone hoped."   

 

But the Toronto-based Indigo Chapters chain is upping the ante this time around by offering everything from key chains and magnets to several pieces of merchandise exclusive to its stores, including book ends, a boxed set of Potter character figurines and a new tin-box edition of the Potter trivia game Scene It?

 

"All this stuff feeds into the hysteria, momentum and excitement," said Lisa Huie, the chain's public relations manager.

 

"We did some market research that showed more than half of our customers are interested in carrying on the Harry Potter dialogue even after they've finished reading the final book."

 

Comments:  It seems that all things funnel down to one common denominator, profit.  There are gobs of money (filthy lucre is what it is) to be made promoting and selling witchcraft and New Age poison to the general population especially impressionable children.  Star Wars creator George Lucas couldn’t believe his fat wallet book when Star Wars merchandise reaped the largest marketing profit in history.  Star Wars was Lucas’ dabbling in New Age Eastern Mysticism in which an external ‘Force’ will be with you if you’re fortunate enough to be a Jedi Knight.  The Jedi Knights had god-like traits and when they died, they didn’t turn into dust and ashes, but were transported into another dimension where they counselled other Jedi Knights.

 

J.K. Rowlings’ Harry Potter is being foisted on willing young people including Christians who see no harm in fantasy witchcraft.  Oh brother!  Throughout the Old Testament, God warned His people against having anything to do with witches and divination, but they didn’t listen.  The book of Revelation foretells that the last days, sorcery (i.e. witchcraft) will be rampant and we’re witnessing that very thing today.  Leviticus 19:[31] Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.  Revelation 18:[23] And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

Iraq’s Al Qaeda group threatens to go to war with Iran

The leader of an Al Qaeda umbrella group in Iraq threatened to wage war against Iran unless it stops supporting Shiites in Iraq within two months, according to an audiotape.

 

Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, who leads the group Islamic State in Iraq , said his Sunni fighters have been preparing for four years to wage a battle against Shiite-dominated Iran.

 

"We are giving the Persians, and especially the rulers of Iran, a two-month period to end all kinds of support for the Iraqi Shiite government and to stop direct and indirect intervention ... otherwise a severe war is waiting for you," he said in the 50-minute audiotape released Sunday. The tape, which could not be independently verified, was posted on a Web site commonly used by insurgent groups.

 

Comments:  Genesis 16:[12] And he (Ishmael, the father of the Arabs) will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.  This is great news for Israel, but a mixed bag for the U.S.  If Iraq’s Sunnis do go to war against Iran’s Shiites, Iran’s attention will be diverted from its nuclear program thus prolonging it and Israel can delay dealing with Iranians nukes for a year or two.  Way back in the 8-year war (1980-1988) between Saddam Hussein and the Iranians, Israel enjoyed some semblance of calm thanks to a bloody conflict that neither side could win.  It ended up being a stalemate.  The Iraqis and Iranians never did patch up their differences.  Much of the Islamic world consists of Sunnis and the more militant Shiites.  Sunnis are found in Saudi Arabia (Al Qaeda’s Osama bin Laden is one), Fatah Party, Jordan, Iraq, i.e. the more ‘moderate’ Muslims while Shiites can count as members, Iran, Syria, parts of Iraq, Hamas, Hezbollah.  Recently, Hamas rejected help offered by Al Qaeda.  That was a slap in Al Qaeda’s proud face. Shiites desire to defeat the world including all Sunnis who refuse to switch religious stripes.

 

Arab/Muslim disunity was created by God and this lack of cooperation has served Israel well throughout her history.  Israel doesn’t mind seeing it continue for a while, but the world community has other designs, i.e. getting Arabs and Muslims to stop fighting each other and Israel and to forge Middle East and Persian Gulf peace.

Majority of Canadians believe God had a part in creation

A recently-released Canadian Press-Decima Research survey revealed that 60 percent of Canadians believe that God had a role in creation.

Out of 1,000 respondents to the poll that was taken June 21-24, only 3 out of 10 people expressed that evolution occurred without the help of God.

 

The results are surprising for a nation that is normally thought to have favoured a more scientific view of life void of religion.

 

Comments:  Canadians are easily duped.  God not only took part in creation, He was the sole Creator.  To say that He took part meant that some other force or forces were also involved.  Evolution and Creationism cannot exist together.  They’re polar opposites.  It’s either one or the other.  If evolution occurred then there is no God.  Supposed brainy individuals believe in the asinine theory of evolution that says we descended from dumb apes instead of from Adam and Eve created by a supreme intelligent being called God.  Much university learning doesn’t make a person smart.  It’s not surprising since most of academia is man centered liberal humanism.  60% of Canadians prescribe a creation, but I doubt these 60% are all saved.   Agreeing somewhat with the Bible never saved anyone, neither trying to obey the Golden Rule.  People need heart knowledge rather than head knowledge of God and Jesus.  2 Timothy 4:[4] And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Latin mass a looming headache for Roman Catholic parishes

Pope Benedict's decision to promote the old Latin mass is a dream come true for delighted Roman Catholic traditionalists and a looming headache for the harried priests now expected to celebrate it.

 

By issuing his decree on Saturday, Benedict aimed to end a 40-year "culture war" between the overwhelming majority of his 1.1-billion strong Church and a small minority that never accepted the modernising reforms of the Second Vatican Council.

 

His solution was to allow the long-sidelined traditionalists to ask their local priests to offer the 16th-century liturgy and protest all the way to the Vatican if they don't comply.

 

Comments:  Latin 101 will be a popular course for the Catholic clergy and laypersons.  Already, many Roman Catholic Church goers can’t even understand the Mass in their native language be it English, Italian, Spanish, or French.  (Very few RCs know Jesus as Savior; with Latin being spoken by the priest, yet even less will be given the true Gospel of God.)  Latin is an archaic language that went the way as covered wagon trains.  To restore it for the commoners will not win Brownie points for Pope Benedict XVI.  The liberals among the RCC will use this affront as the final straw to withdraw from their once beloved church.  What has gripped the pope to go against the tide of the majority of parishioners?  For a supposed caretaker pontiff, he is asking so much of his followers.  Why doesn’t he just enjoy his lofty position, dine exquisitely and die when his time comes?  Instead, he’s attempting sweeping regressive reforms in the church that catapults it to the Dark Ages.  The more he clings to and forces his conservative views on the faithful, the more calls for the next pope to be a liberal who will overhaul the venerable but out in left field religious institution.  Revelation 18:[4] And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
