Hamas's plans for Temple Mount foiled
Source: Jerusalem Post
Hamas's attempts to take over control of the Temple Mount as well as spread its ideology and recruit new members in Jerusalem have been foiled by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), a senior security official announced Monday.
According to officials, Hamas has invested millions of shekels in recent years in Jerusalem charities and religious institutions, as well as in construction on the Temple Mount, in an effort to recruit Israeli Arab residents of Jerusalem into its ranks, thus bolstering its presence in the capital.
Comments: The fight for full control of the Temple Mount is never ending. No thanks to Israeli General Moshe Dayan for giving back its control to Jordan’s King Hussein when Jerusalem was captured by Dayan’s forces in the June 1967 six-day war. Israel at that moment in time had wrestled away the Temple Mount from the Arabs at the same time Jerusalem was liberated, but as a gesture of appeasement, Dayan reversed his stance. (A few Bible prophecy authors commented that it was not yet God’s time for His people to build the prophecized Third Temple in 1967.) Now, 40 years later, Hamas is determined to make the Temple Mount theirs, first by administrative means and then if need be, by force. When the latter happens, without a doubt, Jordan’s King Abdullah will mobilize his troops to confront Hamas with the assistance of Israel’s Defence Force.
The Temple Mount issue will continue to fester as The Temple Mount Faithful believe that it’s almost time to construct the Third Temple. They’re willing to stand up to the Arabs and blood will flow freely like embalming fluid. Many have speculated that the Dome of the Rock will be destroyed in such a conflict thus removing a major hurdle in erecting the Third Temple at the exact location of the Dome.

European Commission President Barroso warns member states against unravelling treaty deal
Source: EUObserver.com
The European Commission and the newly minted Portuguese EU presidency has dismissed Poland's attempts to reopen a key part of a new agreement on a future union treaty as a "misunderstanding" and warned member states generally that unanimous deals cannot be re-opened just days after being agreed.
"None of the issues which we agreed upon are going to be opened," said Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso on Monday at a press conference in Porto to introduce Portugal's six month tenure of the EU.
Referring to the EU leaders summit ten days ago where member states agreed a mandate for negotiating a new treaty for the bloc, he said it "can't be" that member states "start putting into question what they all unanimously agreed upon."
Portuguese prime minister Jose Socrates was equally clear. He noted that the mandate does not say "oh by the way you can revise the mandate."
"We hailed that agreement" he said, adding that he did not see any countries that want to question it.
Comments: They say “A verbal agreement isn’t worth the piece of paper it’s written on”. All 27 EU members ought to have signed a document that’s iron clad without no further changes allowed. Ignorance or a change of mind would be prohibited. The revised EU treaty cannot be altered in any way, shape or manner. It’s cast-in-stone. Any country that wants to disagree ought to be shown the door and don’t bother looking back. Dissenters are not welcome in the Club of Rome.
The 11th (Spain) and the 12th nation (Portugal) to join the EU are in control of the EU Ship for the next 6 months which promise to be contentious yet fast moving. The European train is on a fast track for electing a full time president to replace the idiotic 6-month rotational presidency it now has. When their chosen king is presented to the world, the Revived Roman Empire will make a bold declaration that Europe will last a thousand years or more, i.e. reign in place of Jesus Christ. Mankind with the help of Satan will establish a millennial rule in the four quarters of the world, but God will intervene to humble mankind during the Tribulation Period.

Key dates in Africa's pursuit for unification
Source: People’s Daily Online
The 9th summit of the African Union (AU) is going to open on Sunday here under the theme "The Grand Debate on the Union Government." This will be the first time that African heads of state collectively focus their attention to this subject.
Establishing a unified Africa to give African peoples stronger bargaining power at international forums has been a dream of several generations of pan-Africanists since the notion was pioneered by African liberation leaders, represented by the Republic of Ghana's founding president Kwame Nkrumah, in the 1950s.
Following are some of the key dates in recent years in the process of Africa's efforts to achieve integration:
January, 2005: The 4th AU summit in Abuja, Nigeria, after reviewing the proposal of creating certain ministerial portfolios for the union, decided to set up a Committee of seven Heads of State under President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda to examine the proposal in all its ramifications.
July 2006: A committee of seven African heads of state submitted a report to the AU summit. The report, named the "Study on an African Union Government towards the United States of Africa, " outlines a roadmap of forming the United States of Africa by 2015 in three phases.
January 2007: The 8th AU summit held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia reiterated that the union's ultimate objective is the political and economic integration of the continent leading to the creation of the United States of Africa. It also decided to devote the 9th AU summit to be held in Accra to the theme "Grand Debate on the Union Government."
Comments: If you (e.g. Cuba) insist on flying solo these days, you cannot hope to prosper in the New World Order of regional governments all reporting to a central head. Regional free trade zones such as the EU and NAFTA were established so that a unified voice could speak to other trade zones. There’s more power in the “many” than as “one”. In time, they will become political just as the movers and shakers of global governance had planned. Africa has the poorest group of nations on the planet. It’s a continent ravaged by HIV/AIDS. Political corruption and assassinations are the norm. To say it’s a “have not” continent is to underscore the seriousness of the reality. It will be a mighty undertaking to forge unity among all African nations why with the different cultures, languages, tribal strife and a general lack of resolve to improve the lot of the people. However with celebrities such as Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Elton John and Willie Nelson drumming up support and keeping Africa in the limelight, there will be a political will to unite all of Africa. The Antichrist for sure will mandate it and he will have almost unlimited power and resources to make it so.

U.S. architect to head U.N. renovation
Source: Associated Press
American architect Michael Adlerstein was appointed Monday to oversee the $1.9 billion renovation of the landmark United Nations headquarters building overlooking New York's East River.
Adlerstein will be executive director of a long-delayed project to modernize the 39-story glass-and-steel building, which has not had a major overhaul in its 55‑year existence and now violates safety and fire codes.
Adlerstein succeeds Louis Frederick Reuter IV, an American consultant who resigned in June 2006 after only a year, saying he was frustrated by political wrangling that resulted in years of delay and huge cost overruns in the U.N. project.
Adlerstein should have an easier time because in December the U.N. General Assembly finally gave a green light to start the renovation, which is scheduled to be completed by 2014.
The body approved $42 million to spend in 2007 for the design and pre-construction phases, including finding space for the U.N. staff, which must move during the refurbishment. The building is expected to be renovated several floors at a time, from top to bottom.
The first visible action should be a groundbreaking ceremony for a temporary conference facility on the north lawn. It had been planned for this summer but will now likely be delayed until early 2008 to allow time for an underground survey, U.N. officials said.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who appointed Adlerstein, has made tackling global warming a top priority and has said he would like the renovation to be carried out in an environmentally friendly way.
Comments: The U.N. stands for “united nations”, united against the God of Heaven. Its centerpiece edifice in New York City is the modern day version of the Tower of Babel (see Genesis 11), the pagan idolatrous symbol of mankind’s rebellion against God. Mankind at that time spoke one language and was determined to build a tower that would reach into Heaven to usurp God from His throne. God befuddled the construction workers by bestowing upon them different languages such that they couldn’t understand what each other was saying and the construction project was left unfinished.
Back to the future. Mankind now speaks a common language English. Once again, Earth is united with some 192 nations represented in the NYC building. The refurbishing project brings about much needed media exposure for this institution that’s been hit by one scandal after another. It’s supposed to work together to eradicate poverty, disease and social injustice and stop wars and conflicts, but the bureaucrats running the mega operation have not been able to keep their greedy little fingers from the monetary coffers. $1.9 billion (mostly American taxpayers’ dollars) is no small change to sneeze at, money that could be put to better use in Dafur and some other places racked by civil war and famine. So, how does the U.N. fit into Bible prophecy? Could it produce the Antichrist or would the EU? Tony Blair or Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon? Is NYC the physical Babylon spoken of in Chapter 18 of the book of Revelation?

North American Aliyah hits 25-year high
Source: IsraelNN.com
North American Aliyah (immigration to Israel) will reach a 25-year record high this year, with immigrants arriving on twelve flights this summer.
The number of Jews moving to Israel from North America has steadily climbed for the past five years, with 3,200 in 2006 and a 5-10% increase expected this year.
Some 70 percent of North American immigrants are under age 35 (40% under 18). The oldest immigrant so far this year is a 94-year-old from Miami, Florida. A 90-year-old survivor of the Auschwitz concentration camp is also making Aliyah this summer.
Comments: Jeremiah 32:[37] Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely. Jews are exiting America the Beautiful and not looking back. This once mighty nation has become a beacon of immorality, filth and corruption. Its leaders and people have turned away from God and His precepts. They have run after other gods and are engrossed with pleasures and lusts. It’s ripe for God’s pent up wrath. American Jews may be seeing God’s handwriting on the wall and they’re not about to partake in the coming judgment upon America.
As hard it is to believe, there are actually some U.S. Jews giving up on the proverbial rat race to emigrate to Israel to live a simpler life. Some fear the growing tide of anti-Semitism that’s pervasive in the U.S. I believe the main reason they’re leaving is because they’re responding to an inner urge from God Himself. God re‑established the modern day Israel on May 14, 1948 and ever since, He is calling more and more of His chosen people back to the Promised Land. Perhaps, they know in their hearts their Messiah is coming, i.e. those that believe in Jesus Christ. Those brought back in unbelief are still awaiting the Messiah’s first coming.
