Ehud Barak to propose Labor Party quitting the government on Sunday
Source: www.ynetnews.com
The Labor Party's central committee is scheduled to convene Sunday to discuss the party's steps in preparation for the final Winograd report.
Defense Minister and party chairman, Ehud Barak, is expected to propose that the Labor Party quit the government after the final report's publication. (Attila Somfalvi).
Comments: This is the thanks Ehud Barak is according his PM Ehud Olmert for making him his new defense minister? Such an ungrateful back stabbing ingrate is what Barak is, not to mention he’s placing the government in jeopardy of dissolving like jelly in hot water. In Israeli politics, coalitions are what it’s all about. Since no single person can garner a majority by his lonesome, he needs to gather some cronies that he can cash in the IOUs.
Kadima, the wonder child of former PM Ariel Sharon (who’s still lying in a hospital bed in a comatose state), is about to see a Labor Party resurgence. The vast majority of Israelis are disillusioned with Olmert’s disastrous excursion into southern Lebanon in last summer’s war. His popularity percentage is at a single digit figure. Barak, ever the opportunist, has visions of being PM once again swirling in his head. He can just feel the luxurious leather padded PM’s chair in the West Jerusalem Knesset. He’s primed to become Israel’s next leader and although his last stint was not something to write home about, he was a military genius and in today’s heightened alert in the country, a former general in the PM’s office translates into a comforting sense of security.

Tony Blair’s peace envoy job means stationing in Jerusalem and West Bank
Source: www.jta.org
As envoy, Blair is charged with mobilizing international assistance to the Palestinians, securing support for the institutional governance needs of the future Palestinian state, promoting Palestinian economic development, and coordinating Quartet objectives with other countries.
"As representative, Tony Blair will bring continuity and intensity of focus to the work of the Quartet in support of the Palestinians, within the broader framework of the Quartet's efforts to promote an end to the conflict in conformity with the roadmap," the statement said. "He will spend significant time in the region working with the parties and others to help create viable and lasting government institutions representing all Palestinians, a robust economy, and a climate of law and order for the Palestinian people."
Blair's new post will be based in Jerusalem, with a potential second office in the West Bank, and will be assisted by a team of experts. Palestinians, a robust economy, and a climate of law and order for the Palestinian people."
Blair's new post will be based in Jerusalem, with a potential second office in the West Bank, and will be assisted by a team of experts.
Comments: This Brit will be doing things that Bill Clinton would willingly give away his little black address book to be doing. The Mideast envoy job doesn’t pay a salary, but you know Mr. Blair won’t be lining up at the local Siloam Soup Kitchen any time soon. (He’s got enough contacts in high places who will see that his pantry is well stocked with the finest gourmet delicacies that Donald Trump takes for granted.) Mr. Blair relishes the challenge of getting the Palestinians to perform the necessary housecleaning so that the peace process occupants can move into the West Bank. In the past, the major hurdle to Israel restarting peace talks had been the uncontrolled violence Palestinians were inciting in their own territories and inside Israel. Until the bloodletting and suicide bomber threat have been tackled, Israel will not enter into serious talks. If Blair succeeds, the next step is actually mediating Mideast peace, something that Blair has denied being part of his mandate, but we shall see. WeDG member Bobby a.k.a. N1095A made the following stupendous comments which sent chills down my old spine:
1) Moving his "throne" to Jerusalem?
2) Possible head of the World Bank
3) Leading the Quartet's "peace" to divide Israel
5) Talk of him heading up the E.U.
well, well, well --- no one can say for sure --- but this is miiiiiiiighty interesting

United Methodists Church bordering on anti-Semitism
Source: www.ynetnews.com
The United Methodist Church's call to divest from companies linked to Israel "is bordering on anti-Semitism," Anti-Defamation League Director Abraham Foxman told Ynetnews on Wednesday.
Foxman furiously condemned recommendations made by the New England branch of the Methodist Church for its members to divest "from twenty companies identified as supporting the Israeli occupation in Palestine."
The recommendations were made by a "task force" of clergy and church members set up to implement a "resolution to end the Israeli occupation," a statement by the Church added.
Foxman, who is currently in Israel, said it was "sad that a religious institution whose job should be to reconcile continues to be biased and bigoted."
Comments: Is it really that shocking that a liberal thinking Protestant denomination is deserting Israel? Most so called “Christian” churches no longer believe (or have never believed) that Israel is special in God’s eyes. These Replacement Theology adherents assert that the Church has replaced Israel forever and Israel is no different than say a country such as Peru. They view the Israeli-Arab conflict as a major hurdle to their dream of peace on Earth. If Israel would only hand back the pre-1967 six-day war lands to the Arabs, the Arabs would forge a peace treaty with Israel. Israel is the bad guy, not the Palestinians who were in “Palestine” to begin with. Such a sly lie by the Devil is believed by many Protestant mainline churches. The true Christians among us ought not get our feathers ruffled over this. God is still in control. God doesn’t need the filthy monetary lucre of the investment withdrawals. He will see that the land of milk and honey will be stocked with cattle, sheep, natural resources, and human ingenuity, i.e. the spoils spoken of in Ezekiel 38. Protestant turncoats, take the Devil’s money elsewhere!

Big Brother wants to watch you take your exams at home
Source: www.miamiherald.com
The number of college students taking courses online is surging, creating a tough dilemma for educators who want to prevent cheating. Do you trust students to take an exam on their own computer from home or work, even though it may be easy to sneak a peek at the textbook? Or do you force them to trek to a proctored test center, detracting from the convenience that drew them to online classes in the first place? The dilemma is one reason many online programs do little testing at all. But some new technology that places a camera inside students' homes may be the way of the future -- as long as students don't find it too creepy.
Comments: Yet another reason to intrude into our homes. Yes, cheating is epidemic in this day of stiff competition and the thrill one gets from getting away with an ingenious method of avoiding detection. In my university days, some professors were so concerned about cheating in exams that they allowed open book tests in which any textbooks and crib notes can be brought into the exam hall. Of course, the passing mark was raised from 50% to 65% and an ‘A’ means a score of 95% and above. It was hilariously funny to see students bringing in 10 textbooks, not to mention crib sheets ½” thick and both their arms inked with formulae and tidbits. Many didn’t do so well because in a short 3-hour exam, much of the time was wasted searching for the answers from various sources that there was very little time to write down the calculations and essay answers.
In this article, home monitoring to prevent cheating sounds like the route to take. The webcam can detect any impropriety no matter how slight. This is another step toward government monitoring and control within a citizen’s private residence. In a post-Rapture world, this will be commonplace as the Antichrist’s police will have every inch of your home bugged, wirelessly invaded by audio and video surveillance, and you can’t even speak out against a government bylaw without being hauled into prison and punished by death. George Orwell’s 1984 is coming to your neighbourhood.

Mormons mark 1 millionth missionary
Source: The Salt Lake City Tribune
Standing on the grounds of the LDS Missionary Training Center before a statue of Mormonism's first missionary, LDS apostle M. Russell Ballard announced Monday that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has called its millionth missionary since the faith's founding in 1830.
"The first million was hard," said Elder Dieter Uchtdorf, a member of the church's Quorum of Twelve Apostles who sits on the church's missionary executive committee. "The second million will be easy. [The number of missionaries] will grow and it will grow fast."
Comments: While Christians have settled comfortably in this world and blending and mixing in with the unsaved in their enjoyment of entertainment, cultivating careers, raising children, planning an adequate retirement, passing their inheritance on to succeeding generations, the LDSs are busy going from house to house, young men in black suits and ties, white dress shirts and trousers zealously foisting the Devil’s spiritual poison on the unsuspecting masses. Converts to the Mormon Church are added daily like mosquitoes attracted to carbon dioxide. The converts are then trained to become missionaries to bring in a harvest of more deluded converts.
Like the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the LDSs are works driven. Being that they’re the Devil’s accomplices, time is of the essence. Their mission: Get as many people to end up in Hell to keep the Devil and his demons company. In the meantime, while Mormons work tirelessly to fill Hell, Christians are lulling themselves to sleep with dreams of demolishing their inadequate existing barns and building bigger barns. Matthew 7:[15] Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ephesians 5:[14] Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from (among) the dead (the unsaved), and Christ shall give thee light.
