Isaac Newton calculated the apocalypse to start in Year 2060
Source: www.cnn.com/Associated Press
June 19, 2007 -- Three-century-old manuscripts by Isaac Newton calculating the exact date of the apocalypse, detailing the precise dimensions of the ancient temple in Jerusalem and interpreting passages of the Bible -- exhibited this week for the first time -- lay bare the little-known religious intensity of a man many consider history's greatest scientist.
Newton, who died 280 years ago, is known for laying much of the groundwork for modern physics, astronomy, math and optics. But in a new Jerusalem exhibit, he appears as a scholar of deep faith who also found time to write on Jewish law -- even penning a few phrases in careful Hebrew letters -- and combing the Old Testament's Book of Daniel for clues about the world's end.
The documents, purchased by a Jewish scholar at a Sotheby's auction in London in 1936, have been kept in safes at Israel's national library in Jerusalem since 1969. Available for decades only to a small number of scholars, they have never before been shown to the public.
Comments: Matthew 25:[13] Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Those of us believers who prescribe to the pre-tribulation Rapture of the true Church say there are two separate comings. The first is the invisible appearing of Jesus in the air to snatch all Christians to be with Him in a twinkling of an eye. He then transports us to the Father’s house of many mansions. The actual start of the Tribulation Period begins when the Antichrist confirms the covenant with Israel and the many for 7 years. The Tribulation Period is what people generally call the apocalypse, the end of the world as we know it. God’s judgments will be poured out against this vile unregenerate world of wicked unrepentant sinners.
We aren’t told of the exact date of the Rapture event. In the past, date setters have discredited themselves and Christianity with their incorrect prognostications. Two in particular come to mind: ‘The Beast Will Roar in 84 (i.e. 1984)’ & ‘80 Reasons Why Jesus Will Come in 1980’. Sir Isaac Newton, albeit a brilliant scientist, did not receive a special revelation from the Lord. The Holy Bible is the only document inspired by the Holy Spirit and it is complete and authoritative in all matters of life. Nostradamus and Jean Dixon were also predictors of the future and they’ve been proven wrong. Dr. Jack Van Impe has even quoted Nostradamus every once in a while and Mr. Van Impe has moved the prophetic clock ahead time many times when certain end times events didn’t transpired as per his timeline. It’s useless to fix a definite date. Yes, God’s prophecies will come to past. The beginning of the apocalypse could be any time soon. Just be watchful of the Lord’s return in the air to evacuate all of us believers. The Rapture event; don’t miss it for the world!

Germany to unveil plans for new EU treaty tomorrow
Source: www.ynetnews.com
June 19, 2007 -- European Union president Germany will unveil on Tuesday its draft mandate to negotiate a new treaty reforming EU institutions, two days before the start of a crucial summit.
German officials will present the 11-page document to the personal representatives of the 27 EU leaders at a meeting in Brussels aiming for a detailed, precise roadmap for a new treaty to replace the defunct EU constitution.
Comments: What does Germany have in mind for the EU? It must have consulted with the new French President Sarkozy. Germany and France have the EU’s two largest economies. They’re the breadwinners of the emerging EU superstate. As such, they carry a lot of clout and being that money wields a mighty big stick, what Germany and France say goes a long way in which direction the wind of change blows. Some tall foreheads in the EU headquarters at Brussels determined a while ago that the EU constitution (now simply called the ‘treaty’) must be approved by each of the 27 EU members. Majority doesn’t rule here. From the mightiest to the tiniest and more impoverish EU member, each has the same voting and vetoing power.
The EU operates under the ‘one mind’ mindset. Since the original EU constitution document had been rejected by France and the Netherlands, Italy’s Romano Prodi, in a fit of frustration, trumped up the idea of a 2-speed treaty solution. That concept would mean all members would be working toward the treaty’s acceptance, but at different speeds. Eventually, all trains will reach the terminus. The downside to this is that the crawlers might be tortoise slow and those Speedy Gonzales could grow old by the time all EU members finally cross the finish line. Clearly, some other proposal is out there that would move the process along so that no one contemplates strangling the tailgaters. Germany intends to unveil a bombshell of a document that would just do that.

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter: Stop favoring Fatah over Hamas
Source: Jerusalem Post/Associated Press
June 19, 2007 -- The United States, Israel and the European Union must end their policy of favoring Fatah over Hamas, or they will doom the Palestinian people to deepening conflict between the rival movements, former US President Jimmy Carter said Tuesday.
Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate who was addressing a conference of Irish human rights officials, said the Bush administration's refusal to accept the 2006 election victory of Hamas was "criminal."
Carter said Hamas, besides winning a fair and democratic mandate that should have entitled it to lead the Palestinian government, had proven itself to be far more organized in its political and military showdowns with the Fatah movement of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
Carter said the American-Israeli-European consensus to reopen direct aid to the new government in the West Bank, but to deny the same to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, represented an "effort to divide Palestinians into two peoples."
Comments: Jimmy Carter puts his foot into his mouth every time he speaks about the Middle East conundrum. He’s a Democrat true and red for sure, not to mention he’s a liberal Christian. Just because he has a Nobel Peace Prize trophy collecting dust in his Plains, Georgia mansion doesn’t qualify him as an expert in Middle East affairs. It was he as President whom Iran’s revolutionary rebels held American embassy staff hostage for 444 days. His failure at rescuing the hostages prior to their release cost him re-election at the hands of Ronald Reagan. You would think he would be irate at Islam. Perhaps by winning the Nobel Peace Prize, he won some lobbying contracts from Islam’s wealthier supporters.
It seems that Carter lashes out at President George W. Bush at every opportunity. His tirade against God’s chosen nation Israel is a real puzzler. Being that Carter comes from the Southern Baptist Convention, one would assume that Mr. Carter is well versed in Bible prophecy and that Israel is precious in God’s eyes and any country or person who dares rail against Israel is courting God’s wrath and judgment. Hamas needs no defenders. Just because the majority of Palestinians (who have been taught from childhood to kill Israeli Jews) willingly elected Hamas candidates into government, that doesn’t mean a pluck nickel. The war against terrorism doesn’t need opponents like Jimmy Carter.

Russian fighter planes sale to Syria alarms Israel
Source: www.breitbart.com
June 19, 2007 -- Israel is concerned about reported Russian deliveries of advanced MiG-31 fighter planes to its enemy Syria as part of an armaments drive, the top-selling Hebrew daily reported on Tuesday.
The MiG-31, considered one of the best fighters in the world, can carry guided missiles with a range of more than 200 kilometres (125 miles) and is capable of striking 24 different targets simultaneously, Yediot Aharonot said.
"This information is more concerning when put in the context of massive armaments purchases made recently by the Syrians," Yuval Steinitz, an MP from Israel's right-wing opposition Likud party, was quoted as telling the daily.
"If Syria acquires the MiG-31 we can no longer rule out the idea that this country is preparing for war," said Steinitz, a former chairman of Israel's defence and foreign affairs parliamentary committee.
Comments: If there’s any doubt that after the downfall of the Soviet Union, Russians would soften their support of the Arabs, this article just about dispelled that notion. Russia has a checkered history of anti-Semitism. The land of Magog in Ezekiel 38 and its leader Gog have visions of milk, honey and spoils swirling in their minds. Russia’s supply of the latest Russian jets that Iran’s euros can buy sends Israel a clear signal that war with Syria is a real possibility. (Syria doesn’t have the hard cash to finance this sugary rich deal, but Iran does.)
It may be a demonstration of military brinkmanship on Syria’s part, but somehow Syria’s Bashar al-Assad might blink too soon and Israel has no other recourse than to send wave upon wave of retrofitted F-14s and F-15 fighter jets into Syrian airspace to make short work of the freshly painted and delivered Russian MiGs. Besides, Israeli pilots are Top Guns while Syria pilots are Flight Simulator gamers at best. Israel has nothing to fear really from this Russia-Syria deal. Sure, a few Israeli jets might get shot down, but at the end of the day, Syria’s destroyed airfields will resemble smoldering recycled tire factories.

Vatican issues 10 Commandments for drivers
Source: USA Today/Associated Press
June 19, 2007 -- The Vatican on Tuesday issued a set of "Ten Commandments" for drivers, telling motorists not to kill, not to drink and drive, and to help fellow motorists in the case of accidents.
A document from the Vatican's office for migrants and itinerant people also warned that automobiles can be "an occasion of sin" — particularly when they are used for particularly dangerous passing.
Comments: Once again, the Vatican tries to impose some kind of “must do this, must do that” on its 1.1 billion followers. Like TV host David Letterman’s “Top 10”, the Church of Rome bids to be cute in its proclamation of drivers’ responsibilities. Naturally, the first that comes to mind in most people’s minds are God’s 10 Commandments that were given to the children of Israel on Mount Sinai. (Notice that they weren’t given to the Gentiles.) Ever since, religious people have attempted to obey the 10 Commandments by their own puny human efforts. The 10 Commandments show us how utterly short we are from God’s holiness. No one, but Jesus Christ could keep all 10 of them for He is God. For us mere mortals, it’s not good enough to obey 6 out of 10 and assume we got a passing grade. Breaking just one will consign a person to the Lake of Fire. The Romish Church’s fixation with idols has repeatedly broken the very first Commandment. It has the audacity to define morality for all of us.
The 10 rules for drivers are a noble endeavour to create safer roads in and around Rome and other cities/towns throughout the world. Yes, don’t drink and drive and respect others who are travelling on the same highways as us. The highways of life are paved with good intentions, but many roads lead to Hell. The 10 Commandments shine a spotlight on our utter depravity. It’s best to dispense with the notion that our best efforts will suffice. The adherence to rules, regulations and the law must give way to God’s grace and truth. John 1:[17] For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:[5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) [7] That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.
