'American Idol' parent being sold for $1.3B

May 31, 2007 -- CKX Inc., the company behind the hit show "American Idol," said Friday it agreed to be acquired by a group led by its Chairman and Chief Executive Robert Sillerman for $1.3 billion.
The management group acquiring CKX, which owns rights to the Elvis Presley and Muhammad Ali names and the "American Idol" talent show, includes Idol creator Simon Fuller, the company said in a statement.
Shares of CKX (up $3.71 to $14.34, Charts) surged 42 percent in morning trading on Nasdaq.

The above verse penned by the Apostle Paul is true about people from time memorial, but particularly in these last days we’re living in. At no time in history have so many human beings been so fixated with ‘self’. Even in Christendom, the mega-churches give seminars on improving one’s self esteem, discovering the real you, and loving yourself. The unsaved world goes overboard with reality TV shows that hype the value of self-respect, the virtues of mankind, and that we’re all individual gods. Is it any wonder that ‘American Idol’ is a smash hit? This show places oneself on a pedestal to be worshipped by the audience. Many a viewer wish they can have their 5 minutes of fame. To be adored and sought after by record companies promising them buckets of cash is part of the American Dream. Turn on the TV to any channel and the theme is ‘self’. This is the prevailing spirit that will lead to the worship of the Antichrist who will proclaim himself as God.
Russia’s Putin issues sharp warning to U.S., vows to counter 'imperialism'

May 31, 2007 -- President Vladimir Putin issued an acerbic warning Thursday to the United States, saying the recent test of a new Russian missile was a direct response to US actions and condemning "imperialism" in world affairs.
"Our American partners have quit the ABM Treaty," Putin told reporters after meeting his Greek counterpart, referring to the landmark 1972 US-Soviet treaty limiting the missile defenses of the Cold War superpower foes.
"We warned them then that we would come out with a response to maintain the strategic balance in the world. Yesterday we conducted a test of a new strategic ballistic missile with multiple warheads, and of a new cruise missile, and will continue to improve our resources."
Comments: Gog (President Putin) the leader of Magog (modern day Russia) is rattling his saber at the U.S. This is Cold War 2, the sequel, which could be deadlier than the original Iron Curtain version. Russia’s head honcho is peeved with the Yanks and he’s going to stir up trouble in the near future. Ezekiel 38 tells us that Gog will lead a confederate of Muslim countries to invade the state of Israel. The invaders will elicit a token protest from those observing the mobilization of military forces. Nowhere is there a mention of America standing up to the invasion forces. What happened to America? There’s speculation that the U.S. will be neutralized by the Rapture event which precipitates the start of the invasion. Another possible scenario is pre-emptive nuclear strikes by Islamic terrorists on American and Western European soil in conjunction with Russian, Chinese and Iranian intercontinental nukes. Keep a close watch on the angry Russian Bear!
President Bush wants US troops in Iraq for decades, like Korea

May 31, 2007 -- President George W. Bush would like to see a lengthy U.S. troop presence in Iraq like the one in South Korea to provide stability but not in a frontline combat role, the White House said on Wednesday.
The United States has had thousands of U.S. troops in South Korea to guard against a North Korean invasion for 50 years.
Comments: Anything can happen between now and January 20, 2009 when President Bush hands over command of the nation to the new president. Whether the newbie will be a Republican or the lead runner, the Democrat’s Hillary Clinton, America is unlikely to withdraw all its troops from Iraq. Considering that plans and drawings of the proposed new posh American embassy in Iraq just appeared on the Internet and talks about the U.N. relocating from New York City to Babylon, Iraq will continue to be prominent in U.S. foreign policy. It would be foolhardy to leave now because neighbouring Iran will quickly rush in to fill the vacuum and appropriate the immense oil reserves. That’s the last thing America and Israel wants. No, physical Babylon is one of the focused sites in the last days.
