Serbia aims to be EU 'candidate' in 2008

Source: EUObserver.com

June 15, 2007 -- Serbia aims to achieve official EU entry "candidate" status in 2008 after resuming EU integration talks this week, but an international rift on the status of Kosovo and the fact several war crimes suspects remain at large is keeping optimism in check.

"It's good to be back," Serb deputy prime minister and lead SAA negotiator Bozidar Djelic said in Brussels on Wednesday (13 June). "We will do our best to initial the SAA [Stability and Association Agreement] in the next few months...achieving the status of a candidate country is the target for next year."

Comments:  Serbia used to form the rump portion of former Yugoslavia which eventually was dissolved into individual Balkan countries such as Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia, etc.  Serbia also produced the murderous dictator Slobadon Milosevic who was arrested for war crimes (i.e. genocide against the Muslims).  He later died in prison while awaiting trial.  Prior to his abdication from public office, Serbia was pounded into submission from the air by NATO aerial assault.

Today, all seems to have been forgotten except for the war criminals who are still on the lam (i.e. loose as a goose).  If they are apprehended or give themselves over to the international police, Serbia will advance even faster than it already is as a candidate for EU membership.  Now, how does this fast tracking appear in the eyes of the Bosnian Muslims who have had their relatives butchered by the Serbians?  Or the Turks who have their own EU membership application placed on ice?  Not good.  Muslims have always accused the ‘Christian’ world of playing favourites.  The ‘Christian’ Croats and the ‘Eastern Orthodox’ Serbian Slavs get preferential treatment while the Turks were told to form the North Africa-Mediterranean Bloc (NAMB).  No matter what, the end result is the coming together of the EU and the NAMB to form the Revived Roman Empire in its final stages prior to the start of the Tribulation Period.

Javier Solana defends EU military planning hub

Source: EUObserver.com

June 15, 2007 -- As the new EU military operations centre conducts its first exercise with a virtual deployment of 2,000 European soldiers, the bloc's foreign policy chief Javier Solana played down criticism that the new body duplicates the role of NATO's headquarters.

"It's a question of a good and serious division of labour, which is necessary with the number of crises we are trying to handle," Mr Solana told journalists on Wednesday (14 June), AP reported.

He rejected the suggestion that the centre - set up earlier this year in Brussels to enable the bloc to plan and run an autonomous operation at the military strategic level - could be seen as competition undermining links with the North Atlantic pact.

Comments:  NATO includes the U.S., Canada and Turkey, not exactly your friendly neighbourhood Europeans.  The EU is setting up a pan-European only military strike force that can be deployed anywhere in the world to suppress an upheaval.  If that’s discrimination, then so be it.  For trouble spots within Europe proper, it’s logical to exclude outsiders.  The Americans have been the world’s No. 1 cop for far too long now.  Let them bring their troops home.  Anyway, with the next U.S. president likely to be a Democrat, America would probably revert to the Monroe Doctrine which placed an emphasis on internal policies with isolationalism pertaining to foreign affairs.

The EU’s military is the forerunner to the Antichrist’s military and police.  It will grow over time and will be armed to the teeth to put down any and all opponents to the AC’s absolute rule.  Again, we’re seeing Javier Solana putting his stamp on everything EU that’s vital to security.  The war against terrorism is an excuse to push for a separate European military.  In the past, the U.S. had balked at such a notion, but with President Bush in the twilight of his governance, he’s not against the Europeans taking more responsibility for their own defence and security.  America’s influence in Europe and the rest of the world is waning and the EU is more than willing to fill in the vacuum that’s being created.

Push for Tony Blair as the first full-time EU president

Source: www.ft.com

June 16, 2007 -- Tony Blair, the British prime minister, could end up swapping Downing Street for a job as the first full-time European Union president, under a plan being actively touted by Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president.

Mr Sarkozy is understood to have discussed the idea with other EU leaders ahead of next week’s European summit, Mr Blair’s last major international event as prime minister.

His support for Mr Blair taking on a big European job is a remarkable sign of Anglo-French rapprochement since Mr Sarkozy replaced Jacques Chirac as president last month.

German diplomats say Mr Sarkozy put his plan to Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, while EU officials say the French president has also touted his idea around other capitals, including Madrid. But the British prime minister remains unpopular with governments in countries such as Italy and Spain, which opposed the Iraq war. Mr Blair’s failure to take Britain into the euro will also count against him.

Mr Blair’s aides admit that Mr Sarkozy and other EU leaders have suggested the idea, but Downing Street insisted that Mr Blair was standing down from frontline politics on June 27. He has denied interest in the job.

Comments:  New French President Nicolas Sarkozy sure is a busy beaver since winning the election less than 3 weeks ago.  He now has the outgoing British PM Tony Blair earmarked for the very first full-time EU president.  In history even mighty military commanders such as Alexander the Great, Charlemagne, Napoleon Bonaparte and Bismarck couldn’t lay claim to the title of Emperor of Europe, but in 2007, the stage is being set to elect a person who might well become the Antichrist.  Just think of it!  How come the EU only has a 6-month rotating presidency and no constitution?  The EU constitution must be installed first and then comes choosing a strong leader to rule over the people.  The 12‑member and now 27‑member EU bloc of nations have been squabbling over the proposed EU constitution for what seems like an eternity.  Nationalistic interests has been an insurmountable hurdle that still hasn’t been overcome, but there’s a growing movement to have a 2-track solution to the EU constitution (treaty) stalemate.

We’re not promoting the idea that Tony Blair is the frontrunner to be the Antichrist.  He’s not exactly charismatic and his boyish face doesn’t really scare people (i.e. not of fierce countenance), but he’s a Catholic and that’s a feather in his cap.  Keep close watch on the other candidates who will likely leapfrog over Blair.  Revelation 17:12] And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. [13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast (Antichrist).

Hindu Salmon Rushdie knighted by Queen Elizabeth

Source:  BBC NEWS

June 16, 2007 -- Salman Rushdie, who went into hiding under threat of death after an Iranian fatwa, has been knighted by the Queen.

His book The Satanic Verses offended Muslims worldwide and a bounty was placed on his head in 1989.

His fourth book - The Satanic Verses in 1988 - describes a cosmic battle between good and evil and combines fantasy, philosophy and farce.

It was immediately condemned by the Islamic world because of its perceived blasphemous depiction of the prophet Muhammad.

It was banned in many countries with large Muslim communities and in 1989, Ayatollah Khomeini, Iran's spiritual leader, issued a fatwa, ordering Sir Salman's execution. It was not formally lifted until 1998.

Comments:  Salman Rushdie is like actress Victoria Principal who has been stalked by her admirers for so long that she’s practically a recluse holed up in her fortress like mansion.  She’s afraid to step out in public for fear of her life.  Mr. Rushdie also is a wanted man (preferably dead) by Islam’s radicals.  He can’t even enjoy his life.  Every year, someone in Iran sends him a Valentine’s Day card reminding him that there’s a bounty on his head for blasphemy against prophet Muhammad and Allah.  To make matter worse, Rushdie is a Hindu and Hindus and Muslims aren’t exactly lovey dovey.  He’s not exactly relaxing just because the execution order had been lifted.  Islam doesn’t really forgive and forget.  This knighthood is another slap in the face of Islam. It seems that the British have a knack of irking the Iranians.

His being knighted by Queen Elizabeth is quite an honour for sure.  Even rebels such as Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger were tickled to death by receiving knighthood. They now have the ‘Sir” in front of their names. In Rushdie’s case, as he looks into the Queen’s face and eyes as she lowers the sharp sword on his shoulders, he might feel a slight twinge as he contemplates the contact of sword with his head wielded by a Muslim bounty hunter.  He better get right with Jesus before a hitman finds him and lowers the sabre.   Luke 12:[5] But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him (God), which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him (God).

Ehud Olmert: 'This is a very disturbing day'

Source: Jerusalem Post

June 17, 2007 -- Sunday's Katyusha fire from Lebanon underscores the need for UNIFIL to expand its mandate to make its presence felt in villages in southern Lebanon where it does not patrol today, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in New York.

The events in the North provided yet another agenda item for Olmert's talks in the US.

"This is a very disturbing day, because we had an attack from Lebanon on Kiryat Shmona," Olmert said at a photo opportunity with Ban before a lunch meeting.

The prime minister said that while Israel was still clarifying who was responsible, the attack appeared to be the work of a "small Palestinian movement." The attack, he said, "reemphasized the role of UNIFIL and the Lebanese army in south Lebanon."

Comments:  Indeed, Olmert found the sudden attacks unsettling.  UNIFIL ought to station troops in southern Lebanon because their presence there might deter terrorists from staging further attacks, otherwise, the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) might have to cross the border like it did last summer.  On the one hand, UNIFIL claims it wants to defuse any volatile situation yet on the other hand, it doesn’t want their troops to be a shooting gallery.  That’s how toy ducks get their heads blown into smithereens.

So far, the attacks have been blamed on a fringe group of crazed Palestinians so a large scale counterattack is probably out of the question, however, the next series of attacks, if they’re in any way attributed to Syria, Iran or Hezbollah, expect the Israelis to cast off all restraints and invade southern Lebanon to exact retribution.  It has been speculated by many that the summer of 2007 will be the hottest on record in the Middle East.  Hot not in a weather wise sense, but searing heat emanating from Israeli fighter jets and armoured tank blasts as the IDF runs roughshod over the Three Amigos.  With new Defence Minister Ehud Barak in charge, expect a decisive response to any further attacks on Israel’s northern towns and villages.  A major war is in the offing.  Batten down the hatches and get ready to rumble.

'Ehud Barak to crush Hamas in Gaza'

Source: Jerusalem Post

June 17, 2007 -- Incoming Defense Minister Ehud Barak is planning an attack on Gaza within weeks to crush Hamas, it was reported on Sunday morning.

Britain's Sunday Times quoted senior IDF sources as saying that the planned Gaza assault would require 20,000 troops to destroy the bulk of Hamas's military capability in a few days.

The raid would be triggered by Hamas rocket attacks or a resumption of suicide bombings, said the British newspaper.

Comments:  Bold and brash is what Ehud Barak is.  His military career was marked by the unconventional.  Whereas other Israeli field commanders would play it safe by adhering strictly according to the book, Barak would defy all past precedents and made his own rules.  That could account for him being so successful in the battlefield that his uniform had no more room for medals.  Now, even before he’s had a chance to try out his new digs as Israel’s new defence minister, he’s announcing to the media that ‘eliminate Hamas’ is his goal.  Get out the Raid cans!  Of course, this is pure military rhetoric meant to instil fear and trepidation ahead of his actual deployment of troops in the Gaza Strip to clean house.  It’s ironic that Israel is prepared to save the Fatah Party, Yasser Arafat’s creation.  Fatah is the lesser of two evils.  If Israel had her druthers, Fatah would be history as well, but the international community won’t allow it to happen because a Palestinian governing authority must exist in order to grant the people their statehood.  In that respect, Barak must play by the constraints.
