Germany’s Angela Merkel gives up on God in EU treaty

May 16, 2007 -- German chancellor and Christian Democrat Angela Merkel has voiced regret there will be no reference to Christian roots in the revised EU treaty, amid controversial remarks about damage to churches in Turkish Cyprus at a meeting of religious VIPs in Brussels.

 

"You know what my personal view is. I would have liked the constitution to deliver such a reference. But as president of the European Council, I see there is not much of a chance," she said on the prospects of God appearing in a preamble to the EU text. "I can't hold out any hope," she added.

 

Her statement comes in the context of Germany's push to fix the broad outlines of a new EU treaty - still called a "constitution" by some - in late June, following months of bilateral consultations with EU states after the rejection of the original EU constitution in 2005.

 

The God debate is at least as old as the 2002 EU convention that wrote the original constitution, with Roman Catholic states like Poland and the Vatican pushing for the reference, but with France and the UK worried over national secularist traditions or damaging relations with Islamic EU candidate Turkey.

 

Comments:  God is an outsider in the EU treaty (i.e. constitution).  Anathema on the EU, but at least there’s no hypocrisy.  Much of Western Europe has stopped going to church.  Man has replaced God as the center of worship.  Fraulein Merkel may be a Christian Democrat (an oxymoron), but she’s not about to lobby for God’s inclusion in the EU treaty.  She’s going along with the majority; she values her political position more highly than revere the God of Heaven.  Such is her allegiance.  In a coming day, she’ll have to answer to her Creator for her stance.

 

God was taken out in order not to offend the Muslims whose Allah is their god.  The Muslims’ Allah is not the same god as God of the Bible.  Allah is a pagan entity.  Paganism replaces Christianity in much of Europe.  As such, the possibility of the Antichrist (AC) being a Muslim is quite high.  The AC will eventually enter the Jewish Third Temple and declare himself God.

TV evangelist Jerry Falwell dies at 73

May 16, 2007 -- Spiritually, the Rev. Jerry Falwell seemed prepared for his passing. A little more than two weeks ago, the founder of the Moral Majority preached of man being indestructible until he has finished God's work, then told churchgoers he was at peace with death.

 

On the day before he died, Falwell called his son and asked him to take a drive up the mountain that overlooks Liberty University, where he posed for pictures near a new, massive "LU" logo with students from the school he built.

 

"He said he was feeling better than he'd felt in awhile," Jerry Falwell Jr. said. "He'd been feeling kind of tired in the past two weeks."

 

On Tuesday morning, the 73-year-old Falwell was discovered without a pulse in his office at Liberty and pronounced dead at a hospital about an hour later. Dr. Carl Moore, Falwell's physician, said he had a heart condition and presumably died of a heart rhythm abnormality. His funeral was set for Tuesday.

 

The big, blue-eyed preacher with a booming voice used the power of television to found the Moral Majority and turn the Christian right into a mighty force in American politics.

 

The rise of Christian conservatism made Falwell perhaps the most recognizable figure on the evangelical right. The Moral Majority's condemnation of homosexuality, abortion and pornography was praised in some circles and reviled in others.

 

Comments:  Whenever a prominent Christian goes Home to meet the Lord, this world gets a little bit worse.  Mr. Falwell was a salt of the earth, a shining light in this dark world.  Although controversy (he apologized for inferring that the Jews were Jesus killers and that Jews don’t need to be evangelized and he has been accused of being funded by Korean cult leader Rev. Moon) surrounded much of his public ministry, he stood tall, strong and firm on the moral issues of the day.  (We don’t know how many abortions he helped to prevent.) The attacks by liberals were relentless, but Falwell somehow managed to weather the storm.  He was not ashamed to give out the Gospel of God on TV. He preached Jesus to the lost and perishing.  His Liberty University refused to admit homosexuals.  He will receive crowns momentarily and a “well done, thou good and faithful servant” from God.

Germany fails to save EU-Russia summit agenda

May 16, 2007 -- German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier's trip to Moscow failed to produce any result on EU-Russia trade disputes but saw some friendly words, foreshadowing what is set to be an equally substance-free summit in Samara, Russia on Friday (18 May).

 

The German minister spent one hour talking with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, foreign minister Lavrov and farm minister Gordeyev as well as one hour alone with Mr Putin, but the talks ended with Moscow upholding its ban on Polish food imports.

 

Mr Gordeyev said Mr Putin "once again stressed the need for safety assurances on products exported to Russia," while a Kremlin spokesman, Sergei Ryabkov, said "everything depends on how quickly and effectively the EU works on our concerns," newswires report.

 

Comments:  The wealthiest EU nation couldn’t get Russia to agree on major issues that impinge on EU-Russia relations.  Russia has long been peeved by the West’s incursions into ex-Soviet affairs.  After the dissolution of the Soviet Empire, Western Europe was like a ravenous wolf gobbling up the ex-Warsaw pact countries.  Poland was fast tracked into changing its economy and received quick entrance into EU membership. Russian pride was trampled on.

 

Russia and the Revived Roman Empire aren’t getting along.  Russia won’t join the growing world community.  Russia believes its abundance of oil and gas is its trump card in getting the West to do things Russia’s way.  This tug of war will eventually lead to war as Ezekiel 38’s Gog will lead a conglomerate of Muslim nations to challenge the West’s supremacy by attempting to invade Israel not only to execute a Final Solution to the “Jewish” problem, but to control the flow of petro to the EU and America.

'Soviets engineered Six Day War'

May 16, 2007 -- In a new book that "totally contradicts everything that has been accepted to this day" about the Six Day War, two Israeli authors claim that the conflict was deliberately engineered by the Soviet Union to create the conditions in which Israel's nuclear program could be destroyed.

 

Having received information about Israel's progress towards nuclear arms, the Soviets aimed to draw Israel into a confrontation in which their counterstrike would include a joint Egyptian-Soviet bombing of the reactor at Dimona. They had also geared up for a naval landing on Israel's beaches.

 

Comments:  Sensationalism and conspiracies sell books.  These two Israeli authors are either desiring to have their book be the No. 1 best seller or they’re onto the truth.  Who really knows what happened 40 years ago on June 6, 1967 except God?  Some of the participants (e.g. Generals Moshe Dayan and Yitzhak Rabin, Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev and U.S. President Lyndon Baine Johnson) in that lightning fast war are dead and buried.  They carried the truth to their graves.  No doubt, the Soviets and their Arab allies hated Israel with a passion.  There were speculations that Israel possessed nukes back then.  A planned invasion of Israel to take out her stockpile of “Samson Option” nukes would be a logical tactic.  Fortunately for Israel and the rest of the free world, the Israeli military made quick work of the invaders.  They withdrew back to their lairs humiliated by the Israeli counterattack that decimated the Egyptians’ and Arabs’ combined militaries.  They would not recover until 1973 when they surprised Israel during Yom Kippur.  (Russians aren’t to be trusted just like you don’t turn your back to a prowling bear.)  God saved Israel and the world in 1967 and 1973.

Hamas blames world, Israel and Arabs

May 16, 2007 -- The international community, Israel and Arab countries are to blame for the current inter-Palestinian fighting in the Gaza Strip for failing to life an economic siege on the Palestinians, a senior Hamas official said Wednesday.

 

The remarks by Moussa Abu Marzouk, deputy head of Hamas' political bureau, came as fighting renewed between Hamas and Fatah in Gaza early Wednesday when Hamas gunmen stormed the home of a top Fatah official in Gaza City, killing five bodyguards inside, Palestinian security officials said.

 

Comments:  The blame game is easy to play.  You just have to spread the blame among everybody you dislike.  The finger pointing never points back to self.  Oh no, Hamas isn’t responsible for the civil war in the Palestinian territories.  It’s everyone else’s fault.

 

Hamas surprised the world and itself when the Palestinian people voted them into power in the “free” elections. Much of the blame back then was cast on President Bush for allowing such ‘democratic’ elections.  Never in his wildest dreams did he expect Hamas to emerge victorious.  Now that Hamas simply won’t go away and is the major stumbling block to Middle East peace, how do you take the terrorism out of Hamas without destroying its entity?   It’s like how do you remove a basketball size tumour from a cancer patient without killing him?  It can be done, but delicately.  Somehow, some way, Hamas must divest itself of the terrorist tag and get with the program of recognizing that Israel won’t be destroyed and pretend to feign acceptance of Israel.
