U.S. and Iran reach Iraq policy consensus

Source: Associated Press

May 28, 2007 -- The United States ambassador in Baghdad said he and his Iranian counterpart agreed broadly on policy toward Iraq during four-hour groundbreaking talks on Monday, but insisted that Iran end its support for militants.

The Iranian ambassador later said the two sides would meet again in less than a month.

Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the Iranian envoy, also said that he told the Americans that his government was ready to train and equip the Iraqi army and police to create "a new military and security structure."

Kazemi did not elaborate nor would he say how U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker responded.

Washington and its Sunni Arab allies, on their side, are deeply unnerved by growing Iranian influence in the Middle East and the spread of increasingly radical Islam.

Compounding all that is Iran's open hostility to Israel.

Other issues clouding the talks included U.S. Navy exercises in the Persian Gulf last week and tough talk from President Bush about new U.N. penalties over the Iranian nuclear program. The United States says Iran is trying to build a bomb; Iran says it needs nuclear technology for energy production.

Further complicating the talks, Iran said Saturday it had uncovered spy rings organized by the United States and its Western allies.

Comments:  The U.S. and Iran have agreed to disagree, but at long last, they’re at least talking (and it ain’t about Turkey).  It must have very strange for this estranged couple to shake hands let alone chit chat.  Iran is the greatest threat to the Middle East and Persian Gulf regions, bar none.  Having disposed of Saddam Hussein, that left Iran to fill in the power vacuum.  There wasn’t room enough for two gunslingers in the Persian Gulf Corral.

The U.S.’s dire need is Iran’s co-operation in Iraq so that American troops can leave one day soon without fear of Iran inciting the Shiites in Iraq to overrun the pro-America Iraqi government.  Iran’s wish list includes being left alone to enrich uranium in order to produce nuclear energy for domestic purposes.  Yeah right!  Oil saturated Iran needs nuclear power plants to generate electricity as much as Rosie O’Donnell needs a third serving of German chocolate cake.  The talks were about “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours”.  Is it an even trade-off?  No, if you’re Israel who faces the daunting possibility of Iranian nukes raining down on Tel Aviv and Haifa.

Iran's top nuclear negotiator says new French President Sarkozy can play role of honest broker in talks

Source: www.iht.com

May 28, 2007 -- France could play the role of "honest broker" to break the impasse with the West over Iran's uranium enrichment program, Iranian nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani said in a newspaper interview published Saturday.

Larijani suggested that newly-elected President Nicolas Sarkozy could bring a new impetus to unblock the crisis by starting up a dialogue "without preset conditions on either side" with the West.

"In this regard, the France of new President Nicolas Sarkozy could play the role of honest broker because France enjoys a very good image" in Iran, Larijani told the conservative daily Le Figaro.

Larijani noted that France served as a haven for Ayatollah Ruhallah Khomeini while he plotted the 1979 Islamic revolution that toppled Shah Mohamed Reza Pahlavi and then returned triumphant to Tehran.

Comments:  This Ali Larijani dude was pulling our legs, right?  He can’t be serious?  President Nicolas Sarkozy has already made it clear that he opposes Muslim Turkey joining the EU.  He also said that Turkey could form the anchor for a new Mediterranean Union instead.  This guy appears to be anti-Muslim so why would Ali Larijani want him to be the mediator between Iran and the West?  After all, a bias mediator should withdraw himself from being involved in the dispute.  I think Iran is placing a smoke signal before the West and after Sarkozy tries to strong‑arm Iran into dropping its nuclear program, Iran can point the finger at the French and exclaim that even the most pro-Muslim EU nation (i.e. France) is against Islam.  It’s either that or Iran is banking on Sarkozy casting aside his personal viewpoint and adopt the traditional French’s pro-Muslim stance.  Sarkozy is under the hot spotlight no matter which way he goes.  This man hasn’t even been in power one month and already, he’s being touted for one difficult task after another.  Wait until his honeymoon period is over, then you’ll see the real Sarkozy in action.

SETI to look for alien life - 24/7

Source: www.msnbc.msn.com

May 28, 2007 -- The search for life around the universe will now take place around the clock.

The SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute plans to have 42 radio astronomy dishes up and running in northern California by the end of 2007, which will enable it to scan the heavens for alien radio waves on a continuous basis.

"There are a number of groups around the world doing SETI research. They are listening for radio signals out there, but it is not 24/7," said Scott Hubbard, who holds the Carl Sagan Chair for the Study of Life in the Universe at the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California.

Comments:  Read my lips…there’s no intelligent life in outer space other than God Himself.  That’s why no radio signals have reached Earth.  Why then are billions of dollars (that could have been spent on eradicating poverty and diseases) being flushed down the toilet searching for something that doesn’t exist?  UFOs?  Oh yeah, the Pentagon and the Kremlin have been hiding the facts from the citizens for decades.  Area 51 does exist…in the movie “Independence Day”.  Man’s a lonely being.  He seeks companionship that may exist in the Alpha and Delta Quadrants.  Jesus came to Earth as a babe and grew up to be a man.  He was the God-man, THE Saviour and friend to all who accept Him as the sinner’s sacrifice, but sinful men crucified Him.  He has returned to Heaven to where His Father is.  Wayward mankind searches the cosmos in vain when all he needs to do is open the Holy Bible and find eternal life.  Eternal life vs. intelligent life?  I chose the former.

Transgender minister reappointed to lead church

Source: crosswalk.com

May 28, 2007 -- According to The Church Report, the Rev. Drew Phoenix - formerly the Rev. Ann Gordon - has been reappointed to lead St. John’s United Methodist Church in Baltimore. Phoenix spent much of the last year undergoing sex change procedures. As Gordon, she was ordained in 1989 and led St. John’s for nearly five years.

At the annual conference recently, the 48-year-old said “last fall, after a lifelong spiritual journey and year of prayer and discernment, I decided to change my name from Ann Gordon to Drew Phoenix in order to reflect my true gender identity and to honor my spiritual transformation and relationship with God.”

The decision was not without controversy. The UMC does prohibit sexually active gay clergy, but does not have specific policies regarding gender assignment.

Comments:  Once again, a liberal mainline Protestant church went against God’s Word and did what it pleased.  God determined our gender at conception and God never makes a ‘mistake’, never.  For His human creatures to change gender is morally wrong; there’s no other way to say it.  There’s a saying, “Two wrongs don’t make a right”.  Firstly, Ann Gordon, a female by birth, was forbidden by the Apostle Paul from leading a public assembly of believers.  1 Timothy 2:[11] Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

[12] But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.  Secondly, having an operation to become a man is playing God.  If God had intended for her to be a man, He would have made her so.  Thousands of dollars later, she got her wish.  In direct disobedience to God, she fulfilled her desire.  Self and pride are intertwined. How will she father a child if she gets married?  A denomination that condones blatant sin cannot be blessed of the Lord, but continues on its slippery slope of moral declension.  What strange abhorrent act will a Christian denomination allow next?  These days surely parallel the wicked days of Noah just prior to the worldwide flood.  Luke 17:[26] And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

Former Nation of Islam leader speaks at Catholic church

Source: Associated Press/THE CHRISTIAN POST

May 28, 2007 -- Former Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan told a predominantly black Catholic church that people who believe in God need not be divided, delivering a message of religious unity that has marked his recent addresses.

Speaking with a strong voice and gesturing firmly from the pulpit as he addressed a crowd of about 1,100 at St. Sabina Catholic Church, the black Muslim leader looked and sounded little like a man recovering from illness.

“I feel very honored to stand in this place,” he said. “I feel very honored by the media being struck by my being in a Catholic church with a white pastor.”

Comments:  Who would have imagined Louis Farrakhan singing the praises of Christianity?  Certainly not about true Christianity for Roman Catholicism is as Christian as Karl Marx; you get the drift.  How can Islam and Roman Catholicism find common ground?  Through religious unity.  Look at each religion and you’ll see the underlying commonality is paganism.  Islam’s god Allah is a pagan entity.  Roman Catholicism is an offshoot of Babylonian idolatry.  There you have it.  Islam tries to convince people that its Allah and the God of Heaven are the same while Roman Catholics assert their church is the only true church on Earth.  Salvation is found in neither faith.  Both misinform their followers and the general populace.

Both will be left behind when the Rapture event occurs.  As such, both will need to co-exist in a post-Rapture world.  It’s conceivable then that the One World Church will be under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Church while the Antichrist will be a Muslim.  Together, they will control the spiritual, political and economical world.
