Poland triumphant after icy EU-Russia summit
Source: EUObserver.com
May 21, 2007 -- Polish politicians and analysts are celebrating EU solidarity after Berlin and Brussels took Warsaw's line at the EU-Russia summit on Friday. But the meeting irked Russian president Vladimir Putin, damaging further the prospects of a new EU-Russia treaty.
"This is a great success for Polish diplomacy, in terms of Russian relations we got what we wanted," the chairman of Poland's ruling Law and Justice party, Marek Kuchcinski, said, Gazeta Wyborcza reports. "Our critics should finally admit this."
Analyst Andrzej Maciejewski of the Sobieski Institute in Warsaw said the EU "taught [Russia] a lesson." Rafal Trzaskowski of the European school in Natolin said the EU showed "it can speak with one voice, that solidarity is not an empty word."
The reactions - yet to be matched at top Polish government level - come after Germany's Angela Merkel and European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso gave backing to Polish, Estonian and Lithuanian concerns at last week's meeting in Samara.
"The problem of Polish meat is a European problem," Ms Merkel said. "I'm concerned about some people having problems in travelling here," she added, on reports that opposition leaders were prevented from attending a small-scale anti-Putin demonstration in the town.
"Poland's problem is a pan-European problem. Just as Lithuanian or Estonian problems are problems for all of Europe," Mr Barroso stated. "The European Union is based on the principle of solidarity."
Publicly, Mr Barroso said "We are very supportive of the process by which Russia becomes a WTO member." But privately, the EU also delivered the message there are "major impediments" to EU approval of Russia's WTO bid.
The toughening line comes after 18 months of Polish frustration over a Russian ban on food imports. Lithuania has been fuming for 11 months about Russia's shut-down of an oil pipeline, while accusing Moscow of political games to divide the union of 27 western and post-Communist states.
It also comes in the context of Russian attacks against Estonia after Tallinn removed a Soviet-era statue. The row has seen cyber-attacks on Estonian websites, riots by ethnic Russians in Tallinn and a siege on Estonia's embassy in Moscow.
According to the BBC, a visibly irked Mr Putin at the post-summit press conference hit back at his guests, saying "We often hear about the need for solidarity. Are there any limits to solidarity? Are there any questions that should be decided internally?"
The Russian president blamed Poland for the ongoing meat ban, adding "since our Polish colleagues have not been on speaking terms with us for over a year...Thank God, there is the German chancellor representing their interests."
Comments: If the Polish politicians intend to send some Polish sausages to Russian President Putin in order to rub salt into his wound, they better forgo a greeting card that says “To Russia With Love”. Putin is seething under his KGB issued undershirt. For sure, he thought the EU would side with mighty Mother Russia over puny Poland in this meat war, but alas, the EU came to the assistance of a fellow EU member. That’s one of the benefits of EU membership. You pay your annual dues and expect to receive some solidarity when it comes to disputes with a non-member.
The fact that more and more, the EU is speaking with one unwavering voice is a foretaste of the future when all EU members will get their collective heads together and choose the Antichrist as their leader. Can the Rapture event be even at the door?! Revelation 17:[12] And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. [13] These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

Hamas: We'll attack Israel from the West Bank
Source: Jerusalem Post
May 21, 2007 -- "Hamas has no red lines anymore," a group official said Monday afternoon, announcing that the organization would extend its attacks to the West Bank.
Until now the group has carried out Kassam rocket attacks only from the Gaza Strip but the official said that this restriction would now be lifted "because of the Israeli attacks on our children."
Earlier, Hamas's armed faction urged its members to refrain from using mobile phones, not to travel in cars and to avoid gathering in public places, for fear of IAF assassination attempts, Israel Radio reported.
Earlier Monday, voices from within Hamas called out loudly for Israel's destruction, following an IAF attack on a Hamas lawmaker's home Sunday night as part of ongoing IDF operations against Kassam rocket fire.
A senior Hamas leader in Gaza declared that it was signed and sealed within his party that Israel would be wiped off the map and replaced by a Palestinian State, Israel Radio reported. He added that rockets and missiles were the means of removing Israel from the picture.
Comments: OK, in unison, let’s all exclaim “No thanks to President Bush for allowing so called ‘democratic’ elections that saw the Palestinian people overwhelmingly choose Hamas over the ‘moderate’ Fatah Party”. There, we said it! They say, “Sometimes, you get what you’ve asked for” and Hamas is concrete proof that the Palestinians are terrorists at heart for casting their ballots for the most ferocious Palestinian terror cell there is, Hamas. Israel can go into the Gaza Strip and West Bank to hunt and track down all of Hamas’ leaders and either arrest or assassinate them, but the world’s outcry would be enormous. Instead, Israel must exercise restraint amidst military attacks by Hamas. The so called Palestinian unity government is besieged with internal strife and the prospect of an all out civil war increases with each passing day. Bodyguards protect high profile officials in Hamas and Fatah. Paranoia pervades throughout the Palestinians territories. It has become so bad that Israel has chosen to root for the Fatah Party to prevail whereas Israel used to pursue Fatah with vigour. It’s either Fatah or Hamas. One will survive while the other will be assimilated or worse, exterminated.

US and EU agree 'single market'
Source: BBC.NEWS
May 21, 2007-- Ms Merkel will soon be Mr Bush's closest ally in the EU. The United States and the European Union have signed up to a new transatlantic economic partnership at a summit in Washington.
The pact is designed to boost trade and investment by harmonising regulatory standards, laying the basis for a US-EU single market.
The two sides also signed an Open Skies deal, designed to reduce fares and boost traffic on transatlantic flights.
But little of substance was agreed on climate change.
However, EU leaders were pleased that the US acknowledged human activity was a major cause.
Comments: You knew this would happen one day. The world’s two wealthiest economies will merge. The only thing separating the two is a physical divide, i.e. the Atlantic Ocean. With super fast airline travel, trans-Atlantic cable communications, broadband Internet, and multinational corporations, business and commerce can be conducted with fewer barriers than ever before. In fact, with the two biggest boys on the block wielding their sizeable weighs, dramatic control of the world’s economic structures is just one step away. Who can challenge these two economic behemoths? Japan, China, Russia, India? Singularly, no, but perhaps a union of these four kings of the east could mount a viable challenge. One way or another, get used to an amalgamation of economies as we speed toward the Mark of the Beast’s One World Economic System most likely consisting of regional trade partners all reporting directly to the Antichrist.

Deluded Tony Blair wants to mend Islamic-West rift
Source: www.express.co.uk
May 21, 2007 -- Retiring Prime Mini-ster Tony Blair has admitted he wants to create an organisation aimed at repairing relations between Islam and the West.
Mr Blair, who leaves office on June 27, said he was considering a Blair Foundation, to undo some of the damage caused by events such as 9/11 and his own invasion of Iraq.
Speaking about his plans for retirement, at the end of a two-day visit to Washington, he said: “I’m so busy still being the actual Prime Minister – I’ve not worked out exactly how.
“All these things are possible... I just don’t know, at the moment.”
Mr Blair said he wants to continue working in the Middle East, and relations between faiths are “something I’ve thought a lot about and I’d like to work on.”
But critics say that Mr Blair is over-optimistic to think that his standing in the Muslim world has not been irretrievably damaged by his support for the American-led invasion of Iraq.
Asked by an Arab interviewer yesterday whether he could have done more to win over Arabs and Muslims during his decade in power, he said: “I’ve spent a long time working on this myself, and I want to carry on working on it even after I leave office. There are still ways that I can achieve things and do things.”
Meanwhile, Mr Blair has surfaced as a possible contender for the job of President of the World Bank.
Comments: This dude isn’t even out of the British prime minister’s plush residence and he’s already in high demand. No need to worry if he’s going to draw unemployment insurance benefits. The president of the World Bank position pays a 6-figure salary plus perks that the ordinary worker can only dream about. Blair can thank his parents for encouraging him to study Economics 101.
His ambitious goal of healing the rift between Islam and the West is admirable. It’s too bad that radical Islam has a long memory. Islam won’t forget Blair’s unwavering support of President Bush’s excursion into Iraq to rid Saddam Hussein and occupy the oil rich Arab country. Any friend of the Great Satan America is a prime target of Islam’s fury. Blair has his work cut out for him for sure. Islam cannot possibly trust him and if he does succeed, it will only because Islam allowed it to happen for advance its greater agenda, i.e. conquer the entire world by stealth force. Look at the UK and how Muslims have crept in and influenced British society. Blair and his predecessors permitted the scourge of Islam to secure a beach head in the British Isles. The UK and much of Western Europe are flying the flag of Allah. It’s a matter of time the rest of the world will fall to Islam like dominoes.

Source: Jordan News Agency
May 21, 2007 -- The German written, audio, and visual mass media as well as the German public opinion are following with great interest the important role played by His Majesty King Abdullah II in the Middle East and the tremendous, sincere and persistent efforts that he is exerting to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region and to establish a Palestinian state that guarantees security, peace and prosperous future.
Peter Philip, analyst for Political Affairs at the German television and radio corporation, praised in a report the efforts of His Majesty that stand for peace, reconstruction and stability.
Philip says, in his report which was translated and broadcasted in different languages, His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan is one of the great and active political figures. Few days ago in Aqaba, His Majesty met with US Vice President Dick Cheney and met in the city of Petra with 44 Noble Prize laureates and also met with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Comments: Being that this was reported by the Jordan News Agency (hardly an unbiased news service), one can surmise that much patting on the back of the Jordanian King has occurred. He is after all, a revered and autocratic monarch whom no Jordanian citizen dares criticize in public. (Jordan is hardly a democracy.) Whatever the king does or say, the cheerleading section in the stand gives him a rousing standing ovation. This Middle East peacemaker wannabe loves the notion that he can truly solve the conundrum that is the Arab-Israeli conflict. He touts the fact that he’s admired by Israeli Jews and moderate Arabs alike. He had been militarily trained in the West and as such, knows much about tactical warfare as well as Israel’s military concerns pertaining to her security. All he needs is a mighty military force such as the U.S. to back up his peace proposals. If the Americans are hesitant to commit troops to assist him, there’s always NATO and the emerging EU military. King Abdullah is champing at the bit to get out of the starting gate, not to run the upcoming Belmont Stakes, but to reinvigorate the moribund Middle East peace talks.
