'Star Trek' actor's ashes heading to space this month
Source: CNN.com/Associated Press
April 3, 2007 -- The ashes of James Doohan, who played chief engineer Montgomery "Scotty" Scott on the original "Star Trek" TV series, have been loaded into a rocket that is set to launch in New Mexico later this month.
The remains of Doohan, Mercury astronaut Gordon Cooper and some 200 others were loaded into the rocket Friday by Charles Chafer, chief executive of Celestis, a Texas company that contracts with rocket firms to send cremated remains into space.
Families paid $495 to have a few grams of their loved one's ashes placed on the rocket.
Chafer said he's aware of the dedication of "Star Trek" fans.
"There's no doubt that we'll find a way to accommodate fans who travel here and want to be part of that experience," he said.
Doohan died in July 2005 at age 85.
The remains of "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry were blasted into space in 1997.
Comments: Space is the final frontier and man is intending to warp to where man has never gone before. Lucifer, too, strove to intrude into God’s personal domain and Lucifer was cast down to earth (Isaiah 14:12). Three years after Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon, President Richard M. Nixon was brought down low by the Watergate Affair. Adam (the first man) was placed on Earth to have dominion over all animals. Had God intended him to fly, He would have given him wings. Rebellious mankind endeavors to infect the outer reaches of the universe with the seeds of his sin, but God won’t allow that.
Gene Roddenberry was a godless humanist who envisioned a future where humans explore, encounter, reach out and live harmoniously with intelligent species throughout the cosmos. The starship Enterprise was the flagship of the United Federation of Planets pioneering the way. Commander Montgomery Scott (Scotty) was the Chief Engineer of the Enterprise. In that fictional series, many civilizations and worlds were discovered, but in real life, Roddenberry and Doohan never did set their feet on another planet. Their ashes will float in the vacuum of space only to be reassembled into their original bodies to be cast into the Lake of Fire if they weren’t saved prior to death. Revelation 20:[12] And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

Saudi official: Arabs will normalize with Israel after creation of Palestinian state
Source: Associated Press
April 3, 2007 -- Israel should withdraw from Arab territory and allow the creation of a Palestinian state before Arabs recognize it, a Saudi official said Monday, a day after Israel's prime minister invited Arab leaders to discuss their ideas for peace with him.
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert specifically called on Saudi Arabia to take the lead - the first time Israel has made such a request of the Saudis, who maintain a state of war with Israel but are pushing for a peace deal.
Comments: Israel wonders why the Arab League’s feathers are ruffled. After all, President Bush and former Israeli PM Ariel Sharon pretty much guaranteed that a Palestinian state will be created. It’s just a matter of the timing. Israel hasn’t given much thought of the Arabs welcoming the Jews into the neighborhood prior to that happening.
It seems that preconditions for peace are coming from all sides. For instance, Israel asserts that Hamas must recognize Israel’s right to exist, denounce violence, and observe all existing peace agreements before Israel will sit down at the negotiating table. Hamas, so far, has done neither. Now, the Arab League has upped the rhetoric with its own precondition for Arab embracement of Israel. It’s brinkmanship at work. The lobbing back and forth of inflammatory verbiage just shows the deep distrust the descendents of Abraham have for each other. That animosity will soon translate into a false peace (a temporary truce in Arab parlance).

Barbara Walters: I know nothing about the Bible
Source: newsbusters.org
April 3, 2007 -- When Rosie O’Donnell wasn’t urging the Googling of the Gulf of Tonkin Incident on ABC's "The View" on Monday, she was boasting of her knowledge of the Old Testament, based on her weekly private Bible study. She told Elisabeth Hasselbeck she could whip her in Jeopardy on the Bible.
The topic was teaching the Bible in public schools, as discussed in newspapers (and in this week’s Time magazine cover story). Like many secular journalists, Barbara Walters asserted "I know nothing about the Bible, and I think most people don’t." Joy Behar insisted "you can’t teach it as nonfiction. You have to teach it as fiction in many ways."
Comments: For a woman who is acclaimed as one of the best interviewers on TV and whom many have described as having a brilliant intellectual mind, for her to admit that she knows nothing about the Bible is nothing short of astounding. She’s a Jewess; yet she had no prior religious training, i.e. Old Testament truths and practices. She helped produce a soul searching documentary on heaven that was re-aired last December 29. For that show, she conducted extensive research and interviewed a host of religious people such as the Dalai Lama, evangelical Christians and Jewish rabbis. She heard viewpoints on all sides about what heaven meant to them. She later reflected on the responses and pondered on her own belief about heaven. Sadly, she didn’t pick up a Bible, didn’t ask God to open her mind as she read the scriptures, and didn’t request God to enlighten her knowledge. As a result, her mind is still in spiritual darkness.
The tragedy is that although she’s one of God’s chosen people (the Jews), she’s as far from heaven as that young rich man in Matthew 19. He was rich in this world but spiritually poor for now and in eternity. Ms. Walters believes “that the most important thing is the way you live your life on earth” (go to: http://www.beliefnet.com/story/181/story_18118_1.html). Unfortunately for her, that’s not what Jesus told us. It’s not about good works, obeying the laws of the land, and being kind toward your fellow man. It’s about what you think of Christ. Is He your Savior for sins or will He be your judge in a coming day after life is over, your body has turned back to dust and ashes, and you’ve been resurrected to meet your Maker?

'Gay' cleric: Christ did not die for sin
Source: WorldNetDaily.com
April 3, 2007 -- Church of England traditionalists, wearied by the battles over homosexuality in the church and the clergy, are about to take it on their spiritual chins once again when a leading "gay" cleric will tell listeners to BBC Radio 4 that Christianity's traditional teaching on Christ's crucifixion for the sins of mankind is "repulsive," "insane" and makes "God sound like a psychopath."
Rev. Jeffrey John, who was forced to withdraw before assuming a position as bishop in 2003 after it was learned he was in a long-term homosexual relationship, is scheduled to appear on Wednesday and will criticize ministers who use their Easter messages to preach that Jesus was sent to earth to die as an atonement for sin, reported the London Telegraph.
Comments: Romans 1:[28] And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. You knew it had come to this. When people willingly embrace the gay and lesbian lifestyle that God finds so abhorrent, what’s God to do if they continue unabated in that vile condition. He gives them up to their own devices and they become reprobates. They’re pretty much beyond hope.
Gays in the clergy is like allowing cancer cells to grow unimpeded, i.e. no radiation treatment, radical surgery or chemotherapy. Before long, the malignancy spreads to other vital organs and it’s fruitless to do something then. So it is with these reprobates of the faith. Having chosen their eventual fate (a lost eternity in the Lake of Fire), they’re now spewing the doctrines of demons, i.e. that Jesus didn’t die for sins. They’re preaching this lie on the airwaves. Of course, true born again Christians will dismiss this Rev. Jeffrey John as an agent of the Devil, but those who profess to be saved will be duped and might buy into this lie. Sin isn’t so bad after all and Jesus didn’t die for our sins. The conscience is suppressed. They can maintain a façade of Christianity without feeling guilty about their carnality. Let’s do as we please.

Old church becomes mosque in uneasy Britain
Source: www.nytimes.com
April 3, 2007 -- On a chilly night this winter, this pristine town in some of Britain’s most untouched countryside voted to allow a former Christian church to become a mosque.
The narrow vote by the municipal authorities marked the end of a bitter struggle by the tiny Muslim population to establish a place of worship, one that will put a mosque in an imposing stone Methodist church that had been used as a factory since its congregation dwindled away 40 years ago.
The battle underscored Britain’s unease with its Muslim minority, and particularly the infiltration of terrorist cells among the faithful, whose devotion has challenged an increasingly secular Britain’s sense of itself.
Comments: It’s bad enough that Brits are staying away from churches in droves, it’s a slap in the face of Christianity that Muslims are buying up the empty church buildings and turning them into mosques. Christianity is on the wane while Islam is growing by leaps and bounds. Hundreds of years of liberal mainline Protestantism have produced dead, lifeless, formalistic churches full of professing ministers and congregants who are mostly still lost, in their sins, and headed for Hell. The old time preaching of the cross, the death of Christ and His shedding of blood to cleanse us of our sins had been replaced with man’s philosophies, good works, social justice, and universalism. God and Jesus have effectively been ousted from the churches. The end result is God’s Holy Spirit no longer being in their presence and blessing the churchgoers.
Islam looks for any opportunity to disparage Christianity and what better than to appropriate Christian church buildings and calling them mosques. The religious landscape is Islamic and Britons ought to cry out to the Lord to forgive them for their abandonment of Christ and His teachings. Revelation 3:[20] Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
