Handheld Device Helps Nab Scofflaws
Updated:2007-04-10 11:35:19
USA Today
(April 10) -- A handheld device that can tell in a second whether a person is on one of 140 wanted or watch lists is being hailed by police as a crime-fighting breakthrough and flayed by civil libertarians as an intrusion on the innocent.
The sheriff's office
in Clermont County, Ohio, is the first civilian law enforcement agency in the
nation to test the portable fugitive finder.
Police say Mobilisa Inc.'s m2500 Defense ID system shows promise of saving them
time and helping them fight crime. Critics say it intensifies questions about
privacy.
The Port Townsend, Wash., wireless technology company says its handheld
electronic scanner can identify within a second whether someone is a fugitive
from justice, has a violent criminal past or is a convicted sex offender.
Comments: I encourage everyone to click on the above link and read the entire article. If anyone has any reservations as to how a one-world government could monitor and control an entire population, this should dispel any doubts. In the hands of a paramilitary global police force, anyone can be stopped and scanned at any time.
When I answered the poll questions, the results were startling: a vigorous 69% thought it was a good idea, while only 21% thought it was a bad idea; 10% were not sure. As crime increases, a frightened populace will only be too glad to see such technology embraced for everyday use. It will become the norm, making it increasingly attractive to those in power, namely the one-world government of the anti-christ.

EU to monitor talks between Olmert and Abbas: report
Source: news.monstersandcritics.com
April 9, 2007 -- The European Union is to monitor talks between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in a concession wrung from Olmert by German Chancellor Angela Merkel during her recent visit, according to a news report.
The German news magazine Der Spiegel reported Friday that Olmert had agreed in confidential talks with Merkel to make concessions to the Palestinian side.
According to the unsourced report, Merkel had warned Olmert and Abbas that repeated meetings without progress would be counterproductive.
Comments: The Arabs don’t trust the Israelis and the feelings are mutual. How can peace negotiations forge ahead with each side suspecting the other of promoting a hidden agenda and/or couching an ulterior motive? It’s like an arbitration session in Major League Baseball where management denigrates the past accomplishments of its star player in order to reduce his demand for a much higher salary. Afterwards when the arbitrator has announced which side he has chosen, if the player won, management then extols the virtues of the player. If the player lost the arbitration hearing, he fosters resentment toward management and waits for his day of freedom. Arbitration is a last resort after both sides failed to reach an agreement.
In the Israeli-Palestinian situation, by the EU agreeing to monitor the talks, their third party presence will hopefully ensure that both sides are talking to each other in good faith. If Israel insists on maintaining the status quo, the EU monitors will record Israel’s intransigence and if the Palestinians are asking for impossible concessions from Israel, the monitors will make a point of that as well. An outsider effectively keeps all sides honest and eliminates any hanky panky.
We know that the EU’s involvement in the Middle East will grow and grow and after the Rapture event, the Antichrist will force a peace accord on Israel and all her neighbors. There will be no further need for monitors as their reports will be used by the Antichrist to impose peace in that troubled region. No one will be entirely happy and they have nobody to blame but themselves. They had decades to settle their differences face to face, but wasted their opportunities.

Europe: Majority supports strike on Iran
Source: Jerusalem Post
April 9, 2007 -- Over half of Europeans would support a preemptive military strike to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, a poll released last week by a London think-tank reports.
A survey commissioned by the pro-business think tank, Open Europe, found that a majority of those surveyed in 18 EU member states including France and Britain, backed military action as an option in dealing with the threat of Iranian nuclear proliferation, while majorities in 9 nations including Germany and Spain were opposed.
However, the April 4 survey of more than 17,000 Europeans in March conducted by the French polling firm TNS-Sofres found little support for increasing military expenditures to counter or contain the threat.
In response to the statement, "We must stop countries like Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, even if that means taking military action", 52 percent of Europeans agreed, 40 percent disagreed and 8 percent stated they were undecided.
Comments: It’s great that over 50% of Europeans favor bombing Iran’s nuke facilities into oblivion, but they won’t do it themselves. Oh no, they don’t want to dirty their well manicured hands. Leave it up to the U.S. and Israel. Israel would prefer to defer the matter to the Americans so there won’t be any retribution from the Islamic world, but nevertheless, Iran will hold the U.S. and Israel both culpable.
The votes have come in, the authority to go ahead has been granted, and now it’s just a matter of timing. You know Iran is bent on continuing its program to fruition. Does the U.S. wait until the nukes are just about to be produced or will it strike Iran as soon as is strategically possible? In life, timing is everything and in war, timing is crucial. Too soon and you may not have gotten all of your enemy’s infrastructures, too late and you’ve missed the ship coming into dock. Get it just right and your adversary will be rocked to and fro from its foundation upwards. The Spring to early Summer of 2007 seems to be the opportune time, but things can change. Iran might just surprise everyone by agreeing to nix its nuclear program. It’ll get to lives to fight another day.

Christian charity flows: Anglican church sponsors water project in Uganda
Source: Winnipeg Free Press Online
April 9, 2007 – Years of garage sales, church dinners and other fundraising efforts in one Winnipeg parish have turned on the taps for Christians and Muslims half a world away.
St. George's Anglican Church in Crescentwood has raised $60,000 to install a water system in its sister parish in Ndoddo, near the town of Bulo, Uganda.
Four years in the making, the first phase of the water system was completed in August 2006, and now the Winnipeg congregation is committed to finding another $30,000 or $40,000 to expand the project.
"I think the interesting thing is you start off with the well for $20,000 to serve the (Anglican) church and the school," explains John Deacon, a member of the mission and ministry committee that headed the project. "Then it took on a life of its own. It went to the Muslim school and the Roman Catholic school."
"It's brought these three faiths together, the Muslims, the Roman Catholics, the Anglicans," says Deacon, vice-chancellor and registrar of the diocese. "It gives them a common goal."
And it has given the folks in Winnipeg a common goal as well -- helping the people of Uganda build a better life, and giving people of both parishes a sense of connection.
"We're giving people an outlet to feel we are making a difference in another part of the world in a personal way," says Phillips. "I think that it's the sense of living out their Christian calling in an international context."
That puts the people of St. George's back in fundraising mode, cooking more dinners, organizing more sales, and finding other ways of gathering money.
"People are more than willing to support this project now that they have a better understanding of it," says Marlene Ramsey, chair of the missions and ministry committee.
Comments: Rick Warren would be so proud of these “Christians”. His call for a full out effort to advance the social gospel worldwide has these Anglicans working their collective derrieres off to better the lives of Africans. But, where in this article is the mention of the Gospel of God being the prime directive and whether it’s even being preached at all? Being that the Anglican Church is a member of the World Council of Churches and a liberal mainline Protestant denomination, I doubt the message of repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ ever gets uttered. Like so many articles you read these days in the Religious Section of your daily newspaper, there’s absolute no reference to Jesus and no Good News being pronounced. (If the reporters had simply left that part out, why haven’t the denominations contacted the reporters to print a follow‑up to tell the readers the whole story?) It’s all about good works (the doctrine of Cain) and ecumenism and tolerance of all faiths and religions and the entire church community pulling together to raise money through garage, rummage and baked sales to come up with the funds to build villages in foreign countries. In the meantime, souls are at a continual risk of ending up in Hell. Notice in the photograph the smug smiles on the congregants’ faces. A false belief that good works will somehow garner favor with God after one dies will add that prideful smile that the Devil puts on every professing Christian’s face.

Saint's relic finds home in Winnipeg church
Source: Winnipeg Free Press Online
April 9, 2007 -- Sister Faustina was declared a saint in 2000.
In 2000, Sister Faustina Kowalska of Poland was canonized -- declared a saint -- by Pope John Paul II. On Sunday, April 15, one of her relics will find a new home in Winnipeg when St. Andrew Bobola Church dedicates a shrine in her honour.
The relic -- a piece of bone from her body -- was brought to the city by the church's pastor, Father Sebastian Gacki.
"This will be the only shrine in Western Canada to host her relics," he says. "It will be a place of special devotion and blessing."
The shrine will be dedicated by Emilius Goulet, Archbishop of St. Boniface. "We expect a lot of people," says Gacki of the afternoon service, noting that at least one busload of pilgrims plans to come from the U.S. "We've printed 1,000 programs, but we're worried we may run out."
Comments: Idolatry is alive and well in the Roman Catholic Church. Another example of worshipping the creature rather than the Creator (see Romans 1). A piece of bone from a deceased nun who’s in Hell is being revered and treasured like it’s worth a billion dollars. How can any intelligent person believe such utter nonsense emanating from this false religion? Even an astute atheist would rail on such asinine practice. Yet, there will be thousands of blinded souls traveling from all over the country to see and pray to this piece of dead bone. In these days of gross spiritual deception, the Devil grins from earlobe to earlobe with sadistic satisfaction. There’s no shortage of blinded souls doing his bidding.
God holds this harlot church that sits on seven hills in Rome responsible for deluding the 1.2 billion souls that are chained to her. Her grip on her subjects are so strong that they can’t even see the Light of God’s Word let alone come to Jesus to be saved. They are unable to break free of their spiritual bondage. Tragically, the vast majority will be Left Behind after the Rapture event to be part and parcel of the One World Church lost for an eternity.

Quebecers claim Catholicism, but ignore doctrine, study says
Source: Winnipeg Free Press Online
April 9, 2007 -- Roman Catholics in Quebec still believe in their religion, but put little faith in the church's doctrine -- significantly concerning sexuality.
That's the conclusion of new study of Catholicism in Quebec by Alberta sociologist Reginald W. Bibby.
The report says that while regular church attendance in Quebec is the lowest on the continent, "religion has not gone away."
Only one out of five Catholics in Quebec goes to church at least once a month, compared with two out of five in the rest of the country. Even if Quebecers aren't churchgoers, Bibby's sampling revealed that 85 per cent -- or 5.9-million Quebecers still claim to be Roman Catholics, even if they aren't fully aware of church teaching.
They continue to pray, profess the Creed, and expect the church to marry them, bury them and baptize their children.
"Catholicism in Quebec remains highly pervasive," Bibby writes. "Large numbers of Catholics who have limited involvement in the church indicate they would be receptive to greater participation if the church can touch their lives in a significant way."
The paradox is that the majority of those who say they are Catholics no longer subscribe to many of the church's doctrines.
"Catholics in Quebec are far more inclined than Canadians as a whole to approve of the use of artificial birth control, premarital sex, divorce, homosexuality, and the availability of legal abortion when the mother's health is endangered," Bibby writes.
Comments: Thank God for non‑practising Catholics! They’re Catholics in name only because since as a baby, they were baptized in that church and later participated in the Mass and were married by a priest. Other than that, they don’t prescribe fully to the Roman Catholic Church’s teachings and dogmas. They can be reached more freely with the true Gospel, the soul saving Gospel rather than continue in the lies of the Vatican. But, they’re also prone to the lures of Mormonism and other cults that prey on religious folks who aren’t solidly bound by their churches. Millions upon millions of Catholics worldwide are spiritually lost and can’t see that salvation is through Christ alone. Their Romish Church has blinded them with paganism and doctrines of demons. The mission field to the Catholics is ripe and gospel preachers need not travel to Africa or South America to find heathens to convert. They just have to look at their next door neighbors who are steeped in the Catholic Church’s worship of idols.
Non-practising Catholics may have pretty well cast off their slave master priests and are indulging in licentious living, but they’re still on the broad road that leads to Hell. Their false belief is that being Catholic will assured them of Heaven one day. Sadly, they’ll reach the other side of the portal of death to discover to their horror that they believed wrongly.
