Confident Turkey looks east, not west
Source: Guardian

27 March 2007 – Turkey was not invited to Europe's big birthday bash yesterday despite being an official candidate for EU membership. Ankara expressed disappointment at a "missed opportunity". Media reaction to the perceived snub was sharper.

"In the 1990s, the EU was a giant organisation governed by prominent leaders," said leading columnist Mehmet Ali Birand. "Today it has become a fat midget that lacks perspective and is governed by small-thinkers."

Disillusion with the EU has deepened since Brussels part-suspended talks in December after a row over Cyprus. The hostility, as seen from Ankara, of French presidential candidate Nicolas Sarkozy and the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, has poisoned the pot further.

But anger and frustration is slowly giving way to a new, more assertive idea: that perhaps Turkey does not really need Europe after all ... - ... and the EU will come to regret its insultingly complacent chauvinism as Turkey goes its own way.

"Europeans underestimate the importance and influence of Turkey," said Fuat Keyman, professor of international relations at Istanbul's Koc university. "If they are serious about the future of Europe as a power in global affairs, they need to change their thinking."

Turkey's increasingly important regional leadership role is also changing the way it views the EU. As a vital transit hub, it provides much of Europe's oil and gas from the Caspian basin, Russia and, prospectively, the Turkic republics of central Asia. This is leading to closer cooperation with Moscow and reviving ideas of a Turkic Commonwealth from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan.

Comments: This should be no surprise to bible prophecy students that Turkey is moving farther away from Europe and closer to Russia. Yesterdays snub by Europe, not inviting Turkey to the birthday party could be the final straw for Turkey and like this article explains, Turkey is looking east now. The bible tells us that Turkey will be one of the countries allied with Russia as they make their move into the Middle East to attack Israel. Right now, Turkish and Israeli relations is fairy good and in order for Turkey to come against Israel their relationship will some how take a turn for the worst in the future. All the pieces of the prophetic jigsaw puzzle are moving into place and Turkey is one of those pieces being placed on the board. This Turkic Commonwealth (with Moscow) from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan is identical to what the bible tells us will take place.

Eze 38:3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

(1.) The fifth son of Japheth (Gen. 10:2). Tubal

(2.) A nation, probably descended from the son of Japheth. It is mentioned by Isaiah (66:19), along with Javan, and by Ezekiel (27:13), along with Meshech, among the traders with Tyre, also among the confederates of Gog (Ezek. 38:2, 3; 39:1), and with Meshech among the nations which were to be destroyed (32:26). This nation was probably the Tiberini of the Greek historian Herodotus, a people of the Asiatic highland west of the Upper Euphrates, the southern range of the Caucasus, on the east of the Black Sea.

The sixth son of Japheth (Gen. 10:2), Meshech

the founder of a tribe (1 Chr. 1:5; Ezek. 27:13; 38:2,3). They were in all probability the Moschi, a people inhabiting the Moschian Mountains, between the Black and the Caspian Seas. In Ps. 120:5 the name occurs as simply a synonym for foreigners or barbarians. "During the ascendency of the Babylonians and Persians in Western Asia, the Moschi were subdued; but it seems probable that a large number of them crossed the Caucasus range and spread over the northern steppes, mingling with the Scythians. There they became known as Muscovs, and gave that name to the Russian nation and its ancient capital by which they are still generally known throughout the East"

U.S. launches huge show of force in Persian Gulf, sending message to Iran

Source: Herald Tribune

27 March 2007 – ABOARD THE USS JOHN C. STENNIS IN THE GULF: U.S. warplanes screamed off the deck of two aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf Tuesday in a massive show of force that military officials said was intended to send a message to Iran.

U.S. military commanders would not say when the operation, the largest in the region since the 2003 invasion of Iraq, had been planned. They specified that the war games had not been organized as a direct response to Iran's capture of 15 British sailors on Friday, but made clear they intended to send Iran a warning.

"If there is strong presence, then it sends a clear message that you better be careful about trying to intimidate others," said Captain Bradley Johanson, commanding officer of the USS John C. Stennis.

"Iran has adopted a very escalatory posture with the things that they have done," Johanson said, adding that the U.S. Navy was mitigating that posture.

The maneuvers, involving 15 American ships and more than 100 aircraft, were sure to exacerbate tensions, as Iran has frequently condemned the U.S. military presence off its coastline.

The exercises began only four days after Iran captured 15 British sailors and marines whom it accused of straying into Iranian waters near the Gulf. Britain and the U.S. Navy have insisted the British sailors were operating in Iraqi waters.

The drills featured U.S. Navy F/A-18 fighter jets roaring off the flight deck all day, mounting a dozen rapid-fire training sorties against enemy ships and aircraft.

"These maneuvers demonstrate our flexibility and capability to respond to threats to maritime security," said U.S. Navy Lt. John Perkins, 32, of Louisville, Kentucky, as the Stennis cruised about 80 miles off the United Arab Emirates.

Comments: Now that new sanctions have been placed on Iran and in return Iran has captured 15 British soldiers, a huge show of force was needed to show Iran that they are playing with fire. Iran has refused to back down after all the measures placed on them by the Security Council and if force is needed, it will be used. Further defiance by Iran may lead to a strike on their nuclear facilities and as we know time may be running out for this option. Once Iran starts up their Nuclear reactor (maybe as early as August) a strike would almost be out of the question since this would lead to another Chernobyl. The window for diplomacy is closing and the window for force is starting to open. That later window is only a short period of time. Keep an eye on the Russian delivery of fuel for that reactor.

EU weakens own identity by ignoring Christianity, warns Pope Benedict

Source: EUObserver.com

March 27, 2007 -- Pope Benedict XVI has criticised EU leaders for ignoring Christianity in their reflections over the union's 50th birthday and warned about demographic trends that put Europe's future at risk.

Speaking to European bishops gathered in Rome and Vatican over the weekend (22-24 March) to mark the 50th anniversary of the signature of the EU's founding treaties, the head of the Catholic Church suggested Europe was doubting its identity by committing a "form of apostasy of itself".

"If on the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome the governments of the Union want to get closer to their citizens, how can they exclude an element as essential to the identity of Europe as Christianity, in which the vast majority of its people continue to identify?" he asked.

"It is no surprise that today's Europe, while it purports to be a community of values, seems to increasingly contest the existence of absolute and universal values," he said, adding that a union that fails to respect "the true dignity of the human being, forgetting that each person is created in the image of God, ends up doing good for no one."

The speech came just as EU leaders were gathering in Berlin to celebrate the bloc's birthday, with German chancellor Angela Merkel signing a declaration on their behalf which makes no specific reference to religious values in a united Europe.

Comments:  Psalm 9:[17] The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.  When a country leaves God out of its daily affairs, God won’t bless the leaders and the people.  In fact, that country is under the judgment of a thrice Holy God.  The EU is a pompous arrogant superstate in the making.  It’s the larger portion of the Revived Roman Empire that, after the Rapture event, will elect the man of sin, the Antichrist (AC), to rule, first the two portions of the empire and then subsequently, the entire world.  This godless beast from the sea (of nations) will delude the world’s nations.  His right hand man (many think it will be Pope Benedict’s successor) will force everyone to worship the AC as God at the mid-way point of the 7‑year Tribulation Period.

In a post-Rapture world, there won’t be one ounce of true Christianity left.  Those “Left Behold” will be apostate professors of the Christian faith, a whole lot of pagan god worshippers and followers, and many who haven’t heard the Gospel of the Grace of God.  Pope Benedict, the leader of the largest false church that is the Roman Catholic Church, is warning the EU citizens of the dire consequences of a godless Revived Roman Empire.  (Although he’s a minion of the Devil, being that God is still in control of all things, he’s been directed by God to make such a pronouncement to the EU.)  The EU leaders’ exclusion of God and anything Christian is a harbinger of evil things to come.

Condi Rice sees no 'big bang' Middle East peace

Source: www.star-telegram.com

March 27, 2007 -- Two months after raising expectations that she could reinvigorate Israeli-Palestinian peace talks by sketching out a new political horizon, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Sunday that the decades-old conflict is not ready for a dramatic "big bang" solution.

On her fourth trip to the region in as many months, Rice said she is taking a cautious, incremental approach because of the complicated and fragile regional dynamics.

"My approach has been, I admit, careful. It's been step-by-step," Rice told reporters between separate meetings with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. "I have not been willing to try for the 'big bang.' I don't think that's where we are. There are a lot of moving pieces here."

Comments:  It’s very surprising that a supposed Christian like Ms. Rice would use the term “big bang”.  You’d expect that from an evolutionist but not from a Bible believing Christian.  Perhaps, she was just trying to get the media’s attention or she has the flair for the dramatics.  Yes, humanly speaking, this almost 59-year old Jewish-Arab struggle doesn’t realistically have a quick solution, i.e. peace declared in a very short period of time.  There are simply too many unresolved contentious issues such as the final status of Jerusalem, the Palestinians’ right of return, final borders of the two-state proposal, water, energy and mineral rights, etc.

Ms. Rice, like her boss, professing Christian (Methodist) President Bush, is a believer in Replacement Theology.  They both don’t think Israel still has a special place in God’s plans for this world.  They probably don’t believe that any country (hey you, USA!) that pushes Israel into a false peace with her enemies will incur the wrath of God.  They most likely don’t believe that there will come onto the world scene a person called the Antichrist who will, within a few days after the Rapture event, produce and implement a stupendous solution to the Middle East conundrum.  Even if they did, can you imagine Ms. Rice saying to the news media, “Ladies and gentlemen of the press.  I want to say that I am wasting the American taxpayers’ hard earned dollars by trying to mediate Middle East peace because the Bible says I will fail and only the future Antichrist will be the miracle worker and not me.  Our foreign policy will now be to protect Israel against her enemies.”  Can you imagine the raised eyebrows, not to mention the gut busting laughter erupting in the press gallery?

One third of Americans see little point in the Internet

Source: Reuters

March 27, 2007 -- A little under one-third of U.S. households have no Internet access and do not plan to get it, with most of the holdouts seeing little use for it in their lives, according to a survey released on Friday.

Park Associates, a Dallas-based technology market research firm, said 29 percent of U.S. households, or 31 million homes, do not have Internet access and do not intend to subscribe to an Internet service over the next 12 months.

The second annual National Technology Scan conducted by Park found the main reason potential customers say they do not subscribe to the Internet is because of the low value to their daily lives they perceive rather than concerns over cost.

Forty-four percent of these households say they are not interested in anything on the Internet, versus just 22 percent who say they cannot afford a computer or the cost of Internet service, the survey showed.

Comments:  In a pre-Rapture world we’re now living in, so called democracy is slowly but surely being eroded by Big Brother.  George Orwell’s book “1984”’s warning of oppressive governmental control and monitoring of each citizen’s life is being played out in all facets of our daily lives.  Individual freedoms are being taken away from us one by one.  Privacy is a thing of the past. Canada has strict gun control laws.  While Americans can still own guns and rifles, there are gun control zealots out there determined to deep six Charlton Heston and the likes out there who won’t give up their guns without a fight.

Our reading of the Books of Daniel and Revelation tells us that the future Antichrist (AC) will be a fierce autocratic dictator who will make Adolph Hitler, Josef Stalin and Slobodan Milosevic look like mere amateurs.  The AC will wrestle all guns away from every Earth citizen.  He will mandate that every household have a unique e-mail address (it was Al Gore who convinced then President Clinton of this proposal) and 24/7/365.25 Internet access.  No ifs and buts.  His planetary police force will monitor the activity of every human being through the Internet and via chip implants & GPS.  Those today who think there’s no need to surf the Internet let alone pay for home service will be in for a rude awakening after the Rapture event.  Today, the Internet is an option.  In a soon coming day, the Internet will be one of the many eyes of the AC.
