EU promises to rally efforts to push forward Mideast peace process
Source: Xinhua
03 March 2007 – Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, said here Friday that the European Union (EU) is adamant to rally efforts to push forward the Mideast peace process.
Waldner, who arrived here Thursday, made the pledge in a press conference on Friday at the end of her two-day visit to Egypt, the last stop of her four-leg tour that also took her to Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian territories.
The EU welcomes the Mecca agreement reached recently between the two Palestinian mainstream movements of Fatah and Hamas on the formation of a national unity government, Waldner told the reporters.
The European commissioner noted that she would present a report on the outcome of her regional tour to an EU Foreign Ministers Council meeting, which will be held in Brussels on Monday for talks on the situation in the Mideast.
Comments: Benita Waldner commissioner of the ENP is sure doing the rounds in the Middle East. As we know her pockets are quite full of money with the recent funding which was implemented as of 1 Jan 2007. Over the last few days the EU unveils aid package for Jordan, Europe Pledges Hundreds Of Millions for Palestinians, EU to give Morocco 650 mn euro to help in reforms, Over 500 mn euro EU aid package for Egypt and possible upgrading of relations with Israel. Benita Ferrero-Waldner: The European Path for Israel? Yes, she has been quite busy of late and the bottom line to all of her efforts is pushing forward the Middle East peace process. All this money doesn’t come without getting something in return and in the end it is peace that the EU wants. Money talks.
Peres: We will surrender Judea-Samaria
Source: Jerusalem News Wire
04 March 2007 – Israeli Vice Premier Shimon Peres said on Saturday that the current government still very much intends to uproot thousands of Jews from Judea and Samaria and surrender their homes to the "Palestinians."
In an interview on Israel's Channel 2 TV, Peres stated matter-of-factly: "The government will evacuate...dozens of settlements by the end of its term."
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert originally ran on a platform of additional "disengagement" from the biblical Land of Israel.
But his plummeting popularity following Israel's failures in last summer's Lebanon war called into question the ability to implement such a controversial policy, and Olmert put the issue on the back burner.
At the time, Olmert claimed that he had been forced to change his mind due to the fact that Israel's withdrawals from southern Lebanon and Gaza had brought increased violence instead of peace.
But the fact that Peres made his latest remarks at a time when hostility from Lebanon and Gaza continues unabated calls into question whether or not Olmert has really learned his lesson.
Mt 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Unholy struggles over the Temple Mount
Source: Haaretz
04
March 2007 –
Sheik Ra'ad Salah, speaking in Cairo
yesterday, called on the Arab and Muslim world to begin every news broadcast
with developments on and around the Temple Mount. At a press conference he
convened in the Egyptian capital, he proposed the creation of a charity that
would raise money "to save Jerusalem from the Judaization attempts of the
Israeli establishment."
The statements by the head of the northern branch of Israel's
Islamic Movement are part of the organization's declared campaign. Salah and his
ally, Jerusalem Waqf (Supreme Muslim Council) Head Sheik Ikrima Sabri, met with
Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa, and they hope the issue will be on the
agenda of today's Arab foreign ministers' summit in Cairo.
An Islamic Movement delegation
returned this weekend from Turkey, where members held talks with officials, and
began preparations for a reciprocal visit to Israel.
In Jerusalem, meanwhile, a power struggle is raging over the
Temple Mount among the Palestinian Authority, Jordan, Israel, the northern
branch of the Islamic Movement and other interested parties. One symbol of this
struggle is the replacement last Thursday of the long-time head of the Islamic
Waqf religious trust, Adnan Husseini, by Azzam Al-Khatib.
While the Jordanian supporters of Husseini, who is currently
abroad, explained that the change of hands was routine - the result of the
former head's retirement - it is obvious that the move has important political
implications and is connected to the complicated relationship among the parties.
The position of Waqf head is the most important one in the web
of control over Muslim assets in Jerusalem, the most significant of which are
the Temple Mount and Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Jerusalem Waqf operates under the aegis
of Jordan. In its peace agreement with the Hashemite Kingdom, Israel promised to
maintain Jordan's special status regarding Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem.
Comments: Update; the Temple Mount may be out of the main news for now but the battle for control of it is still raging in Israel. The Waqf head is said to have changed position and this is most likely due to the current situation at the Mount and not a regular retirement. It remains to be seen if this new Waqf chief will be more of a hardliner or willing to negotiate when dealing with the holy sites. The situation on the Temple Mount seems to have calmed down a little but that doesn’t mean that it will stay quiet for long. This is the most disputed piece of ground in the world and control of the Temple Mount might mean control of Jerusalem when negotiations begin and end.

King Abdullah: U.S. is the country most capable of influencing Israel
Source: Jerusalem Post
March 2, 2007 -- Jordan's King Abdullah II said Friday that Israel must choose between the mentality of "Israel the fortress" or "living in peace and security with its neighbors."
Interviewed on state television before his departure for the United States, the king said the United States was the country most capable of influencing Israel.
"It is time that the [US] employ this influence to prove its transparency to the people of the region, and that it is not biased," Abdullah said.
The king, who has long urged America to make a greater effort on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, is likely to make the same point when he addresses the US Congress on Wednesday.
The Middle East faces two choices - "either the choice of peace or the choice of chaos, violence and destruction," the king told Jordanian television, to which he rarely gives interviews.
He said that a solution to the Palestinian problem would spare the region disaster and chaos.
Comments: Ezekiel 38:[11] And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates. 1 Thessalonians 5:[3] For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. Indeed, Israelis are living in the shadow of the snake‑like Security Fence/Barrier that was constructed to prevent Arab terrorists from infiltrating the nation and setting off deadly suicide bombs. Such bloody attacks have dropped off dramatically as a result. Yes, you could say people within Israel have a siege bunker mentally and who could blame them? No one likes to be blown into body bits and pieces.
King Abdullah has the pulse of the Israelis pegged perfectly. Israel will not forge peace with the Hamas terrorists. Unless Israel is recognized to have the right to co-exist alongside her neighbors and the Palestinians renounce violence and really mean it, Middle East peace will remain but a pipe dream. The U.S. being Israel’s main supporter, when every other nation had deserted Israel, is the country that can somehow extract more concessions from Israel as pre‑conditions of peace. The king wants President Bush to exert the pressure on Israel to the point of undue hardship. Anything less and Israel won’t do a thing to change the status quo. President Bush has vowed to make Middle East one of his main focuses before he leaves the White House and the king will do all he can to remind Mr. Bush to work toward that lofty goal.

Catholic cardinal predicts 'ecumenist' Antichrist
Source: www.timesonline.co.uk
March 2, 2007 -- An arch-conservative cardinal chosen by the Pope to deliver this year’s Lenten meditations to the Vatican hierarchy has caused consternation by giving warning of an Antichrist who is “a pacifist, ecologist and ecumenist”.
Cardinal Giacomo Biffi, 78, who retired as Archbishop of Bologna three years ago, quoted Vladimir Solovyov (1853-1900), the Russian philosopher and mystic, as predicting that the Antichrist “will convoke an ecumenical council and seek the consensus of all the Christian confessions”.
The “masses” would follow the Antichrist, “with the exception of small groups of Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants” who would fight to prevent the watering down and ultimate destruction of the faith, he said.
Comments: The future Antichrist (AC) will be a pacifist, ecologist and ecumenist? From what we know about the characteristics of the AC, we know he will be a man of fierce countenance (not exactly your typical peacenik) [see Daniel 8:23], his One World Government controlled planet will be ravaged by ecology disasters by his own doing and by Divine judgment, and his right hand man, the False Prophet, will consummate the One World Church with worship to be directed solely at his boss, the AC (see Revelation 13:12).
Catholics, unlike many mainline Protestant denominations, do believe in the AC and a coming Tribulation Period. Cardinal Giacomo Biffi can sense the revealing of the AC any time soon and this cardinal doesn’t even understand the Bible. Yes, the masses will follow the AC and will receive his mark (666) in order to conduct buying and selling. There will be millions of true post‑Rapture Christians (Jews and Gentiles) who will refuse to be subservient to the AC and as a result, will lose their head. Cardinal Giacomo Biffi may be off base on some of his predictions, but the gist of it (i.e. the Beast AC will come onto the world scene) is right on.

Christian belief a 'hate crime' under plan
Source: WorldNetDaily.com
March 3, 2007 -- Americans worried about new "hate crime" legislation that could be used to make criminals of those whose religious faith doesn't endorse homosexuality could be facing a two-pronged attack, according to groups that monitor those developments.
Michael Marcavage, director of Repent America and Pike both had alerted their constituencies earlier to H.R. 254, or the David Ray Hate Crimes Prevention Act, which could create "anti-hate" restrictions and penalties.
Marcavage told WND that plan would invert American justice, and instead of requiring evidence it would leave it to someone who claims to be offended to determine whether a "crime" has been committed.
Comments: Matthew 5:[11] Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Just as the Lord Jesus told His disciples, we vocal Christians will be hated for our testimony for Christ and for our stance against blatant sin. We all know plenty of silent believers whom the world wouldn’t know they’re the Lord’s because they’re afraid or ashamed to be labeled “Christian”. They’ll avoid persecution. However, for those among us who dare to call a spade a spade, i.e. gays and lesbians are committing abhorrent unnatural acts contrary to what God intended for men and women, we’ll be hauled into court to face pro-homosexual judges. Gays and lesbians will even be able to make citizen arrests against suspected homophobic Christians. This is a foretaste of things to come when during the Tribulation Period, snitches will turn in people who somehow managed to avoid having the mark of the Beast forced on them.
To be a Christian these days is to be heaped scorn and derision. Of all the faiths and religions in this world, Christianity is viewed as being the most intolerant. Whether it’s gay rights, abortion, anti-Islam attacks or anti-feminism, a bull’s eye target is placed on true believers who claim Biblical authority for their religious and politically incorrect stance.

Gadhafi: Libya unrewarded by the West for ending nuclear program
Source: haaretz.com/Reuters
March 3, 2007 -- Muammar Gaddafi has complained that Western countries have failed to properly compensate Libya for scrapping its nuclear arms program and as a result countries like Iran and North Korea would not follow his lead.
Speaking on the 30th anniversary of his declaration of Libya as a Jamahiriyah (state of the masses), Gaddafi told the BBC in an interview broadcast late on Friday that the West had failed to help transform his nuclear weapons program into nuclear power.
"This should be a model to be followed. But Libya is disappointed because the promises given by America and Britain so that we could give up our capabilities were not fulfilled," the BBC Web site quoted Gaddafi as saying.
Comments: The colonel was apparently conned by the West, especially the USA. Promises to Libya never materialized and now Gaddafi is singing the blues. Of course, this self-proclaimed colonel had always beefed about this and that. He is a hard man to satisfy. He thought the West was bargaining in good faith when it offered to remove Libya’s status as a rogue nation which supported terrorism and was slapped with economic sanctions as a result. After much alienation and economic hardships, Gaddafi decided to wave the white flag and accepted the West’s terms for re‑integration into the world community.
Well, hindsight is 20/20. Libya now regrets giving up its plans to be a nuclear power. It’s telling North Korea and Iran not to trust the two-faced Western nations. Keep forging ahead with your nuclear programs for they are your trump card when dealing with the West. Nukes in the hands of small fry countries are the hammer by which mighty nations take notice. Years ago when Libya caved into the West, Bible prophecy students were puzzled by that event for “Ezekiel 38:5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet” speaks of Libya being part of the invasion force that will descend on Israel in the last days. Ezekiel 38:5 is on track once again. Now, it’s likely Libya will rejoin its Muslims brothers in railing against the U.S. and Israel.

Ariel Sharon still in deep coma as he turns 79
Source: Jerusalem Post
March 4, 2007 -- Former prime minister Ariel Sharon turned 79 years old yesterday, but remained deep in a coma more than 13 months after his devastating second stroke.
The hospital spokesman said the condition of the former prime minister, who is still attached to a respirator, was "unchanged."
Comments: We believe that everything happens for a reason only known by God. In this case, why is the Lord keeping the aged and incapacitated Sharon alive? Surely, a man who’s 79 and had outlived his usefulness to his nation would have been pulled off life support by now. For humanitarian reasons, Sharon’s doctors would have recommended to Sharon’s relatives that he be set free from his comatose state. It was suggested that his successor, Ehud Olmert, kept him alive to bolster support for Olmert’s election as the next prime minister. Now, that the election is past, what other reason could there be to allow Sharon to lie in a hospital bed? Could it be that Sharon is one of the keys to encourage the Israelis to fight Hezbollah and Hamas in the upcoming war in the Spring of 2007?
There were a few Bible prophecy students who have speculated that Ariel Sharon may turn out to be the Antichrist who recovered from a seemingly fatal head wound. (Revelation 13:[3] And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast). No chance of that happening? Sharon is Jewish; he was a well decorated military general, he had an intimidating facial appearance; as a politician, he made bold moves to make peace with the Palestinians, something that on one ever thought would come from such a hawkish soldier; Israel could be the little horn nation; he didn’t regard the God of his fathers; and if he were the AC, he could confirm/strengthen the (Jerusalem or the 1993 Oslo Accords) covenant with Israel and the many peoples/countries as per Daniel 9:27. Can you imagine the entire world dropping its jaw in wonderment if Sharon were to wake up and rise from his hospital bed and is declared fit for resumption of his duties?

Hindus combine prayer with exercise at temple gym
Source: Winnipeg Free Press
March 7, 2007 -- A gym or a health club in the workplace may be common these days. But you wouldn't expect to find one in a religious place.
The gym-cum-yoga facility in the Hindu Centre, located at 999 St. Anne's Road is extremely popular in Winnipeg.
Occupying a 3,000-square-foot area, the Hindu Centre is perhaps the biggest temple in the Prairies. It has a spacious gym hall and a badminton court besides other recreational facilities. It opened in June 2005.
The gym facility is open seven days a week with varying hours.
"Hinduism is more than a religion -- it's a way of life that includes mental as well as physical health. Good physical health is of paramount importance because without it one cannot attain mental health," said Venket Nachiraju, a priest at the temple.
Nachiraju said that though Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world, it does not hesitate to assimilate the strengths and healthy practices of the West and other religions.
One of the activities that is extremely popular at the temple is yoga. Mandakini, a yoga teacher, said that she had 40 people enrolled. While one couple is from India, the rest are Canadians.
"It is interesting -- while most of the Indian youth go for gym-based health and physical exercises, the Canadians prefer to practise yoga since various "asanas" (exercise postures) provide mental peace, besides physical exercise," Mandakini said.
Comments: Ever since the Beatles opened Western people’s eyes to Hinduism in the 1960s, the West has embraced the practices, rituals and concepts of this religion with unbridled enthusiasm. Western college and university women especially have delved into this mysterious religion totally oblivious to its undercurrent dangers not knowing that Hindus worship a multitude of gods (actually demonic spirits), which under a self-induced altered state of consciousness, take control the mind of the person.
Yoga, although many Westerners vehemently insist is purely exercise and no more, is both spiritual and physical and opens a portal into the person’s mind and soul. Demonic possession is a strong likelihood. Now a day, even sincere Christians have taken up Yoga and have labeled it “Christian Yoga”. Mixing a godless soul damming practice with Christianity is spiritual fornication that the Apostle Paul warned about. Those who lack spiritual discernment will agree to disagree with this assessment as they seek to rationalize their inappropriate actions. Devout Hindus who practise Yoga have lambasted the hi-jacking of Yoga as they assert that Yoga does indeed have a spiritual component even if people say it does not. Yes, it’s ironic that Hindu youths don’t practise Yoga as they should yet as the same time, Western people flock to it like wasps to an open can of Pepsi. 1 Thessalonians 4:[3] For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication.
