Discovery of mosaic halts work at Jerusalem walkway

15 February 2007 – The planned walkway at the centre of the furious dispute over Jerusalem's holiest site could be further delayed by the discovery of a Byzantine mosaic.
The geometric patterned fragment was exposed by archaeological workers yesterday at the bottom of an underground shaft where one of the walkway pillars is intended to go, as The Independent examined excavation work in the area.
"We have a real time discovery," reported Gideon Avni, director of excavations and surveys at the Israel Antiquities Authority.
Dr Avni said further excavations would now be needed to see whether the mosaic, probably from the fifth or sixth century AD, was part of a larger decorated room or house. He said it was too early to say whether the pillar would have to be moved. If the fragment turned out not to extend further, it could possibly be extracted and exhibited.
The discovery was the latest in a series of twists in the conflict over access through the Mugrabi Gate to the compound sacred to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as Haram al-Sharif - noble sanctuary.
Seventeen policemen and 23 Palestinians were injured last Friday during demonstrations against the building of the new walkway, where the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque - Islam's third holiest site - is located. The work, is being carried out close to the Western Wall, the remains of the second Jewish Temple destroyed by the Romans AD70, and most sacred place in Judaism.
On Monday,
Jerusalem's ultra-Orthodox Mayor, Uri Lupolianski, won praise from Israeli
liberals when he unexpectedly announced work on the new walkway would be frozen
to allow time for objections, including by Muslims, under a formal planning
procedure. But the Israeli government said the archaeological "salvage digging"
customary when construction work is carried out in the area, would continue.
Comments: Update; having the dig delayed because of the government is a mistake but having the dig delayed because of archaeological discoveries is the right thing to do. Like I have covered before, this area that Israel is working on is under Israeli control and they have every right to work in this location. Yes it is true that these discoveries will irk the Muslim masses but when all is said and done these discoveries will confirm that Israel has a longer history and presence on the Temple Mount than the Arabs do. The Muslims who are trying to hide this fact are afraid of what Israel will find. In order to prove that there is no harm being done to Al Aqsa Israel Agrees to Turkish Inspection of Muslim Shrine. This move is the idea of Ehud Olmert and may or may not be a good idea since the work would be overseen by a “Muslim” Turkish government. We will have to wait to see if this will calm the Muslim anger.
You might be wondering why I am covering this news so often but I think this news is so important in end time events and what it may eventually lead too. It is worth keeping an eye on and we should be following the day to day events as this unfolds. Every Friday as the Muslims gathers on the Mount and it is now a potential flashpoint as Jews pray at the Western Wall. The stakes have never been this high.

World facing severe water shortage

15 February 2007 – In less than 20 years, close to two billion people will be without water and two thirds of the world will not have enough water, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) warned here on Wednesday.
According to the head of FAO's Water, Development and Management Unit, Pasquale Steduto, water use has expanded at twice the rate of population growth over the past 100 years creating conditions of water scarcity.
Water shortages are obviously most acute in the driest areas of the world, which are home to more than 2 billion people and to half of all poor people.
Agriculture is the number-one user of water worldwide, accounting for about 70 percent of all freshwater withdrawn from lakes, waterways and aquifers around the world.
"Water has a major impact on the capacity of people everywhere to improve their lives. In many regions, farmers trying to produce enough food and income face the added challenges of repeated droughts and competition for water," Steduto said.
One way to deal with water scarcity is through farming-related techniques that harvest more rainfall, reduce waste in irrigation and increase productivity, and in changes in crop and dietary choices, Steduto added.

"And this disaster is not set to happen in some science fiction future many
years ahead, but in our lifetime," he said. Adding to this coming disaster
is another one also set to happen in our lifetime, it is the lack of water for
two billion people and this warning comes from the United Nations. Without water
man can’t survive, it is that simple. Combining the coming two disasters
together, they are a recipe for terrible times to come. We need to be ready for
the inevitable.

Canada’s Ontario health minister to wed gay partner

February 14, 2007 -- Ontario's first openly gay cabinet minister, George Smitherman, Monday joked he would walk down the aisle in "a thong" when he and his partner wed this summer.
In the works for a long time, Smitherman formally popped the question to Christopher Peloso by offering him a white tuxedo at Christmas, he said. The tux contained a note in one of its pockets mimicking an invitation.
"This is my greatest foray into romance to date," he said.
The two men have lived together for the past 18 months. The occasionally combative health minister said he and Peloso, 33, would like to adopt a child.
Comments: Similar to that old romantic song, “Love Is Here to Stay”, “Gays and Lesbians Are Here to Stay” until Jesus’s return to Earth. The tide of homosexuality cannot be stemmed. The so called alternative lifestyle has piqued the interest of more and more people such that there is an unfettered increase in the number of same sex relationships. The historical figure that 10% of the population is gay is grossly underestimated. In time, gay relationships will out number traditional heterosexual unions.
It’s reprehensible for the Premier of the largest province in Canada to have appointed a homosexual to be in charge of the health portfolio in that province. What kind of example is that? George Smitherman promotes the gay lifestyle that has proven to produce the largest number of HIV/AIDS cases. The health care budget is already being strained at the seams and adding more cases would burden the system even more. Of course, the gay community would cry discrimination if Mr. Smitherman were to be removed from his position. Sodomites occupied key political positions in ancient Sodom and today, Canada and many so called “enlightened” countries have mirrored Sodom’s ways. We all know how Sodom ended.
Canada used to be called a nominal Christian country. That hasn’t been the case since the 1960s and it’s more like the Devil’s lair these days. Whether it’s due to the Devil’s deception or man’s natural tendency to throw off God’s restraint to do as he so pleases, Canadian gays and lesbians shamelessly parade their abhorrent lifestyle for all to see. The shame is gone, replaced by unbridled pride, arrogance and pomposity. Philippians 3:[19] Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.

February 15, 2007 -- On Monday, February 19, 2007, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will meet to "start the process of founding an independent Palestinian state and take steps for peace in the Middle East" at a yet-to-be disclosed location, according to a Turkish Press article. God help us!
Throughout the process of President Bush leading our nation into membership in the international Quartet alongside Russia, the European Union and the United Nations, I've been scratching my head while mumbling, often loud enough that other members of my family hear me, "Has Dubya lost his mind? Doesn't he know what will befall our nation if we side with those we know are trying to destroy the nation of Israel from the face of the earth? He's a born-again Christian! He should know better."
Slowly but surely, I regret to say, I'm beginning to understand. This has to do with President Bush's church membership. I've heard he's a member of the Methodist Church. I've also heard he's a full-fledged card-carrying member of the new world order in the making…
President Bush: Well, I just finished a book called "Abraham," by a guy named Feiler. And it's a really interesting book that studies the prophet Abraham from the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim perspective. And the lesson is, is that if you -- you can look at Abraham as a unifying factor. In other words, all three of our -- all three of those religions started from the same source, which means it's possible to reconcile differences. And I was impressed by his writing. I really enjoyed the amount of study he did on the subject. And I appreciated his lessons that sometimes as each religion appropriated Abraham to suit their own needs, but, ultimately, we could view Abraham as a way to find a common God.
The holy book of Islam, the Quran, tells the Muslim to persecute, subdue and kill Christians and Jews who will not drop their religious beliefs and convert to their faith. The Holy Bible tells the Christian to "love thy neighbour as thyself" and for us to go forth and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with all who will hear it that they might be saved!
What kind of "common God" can Islam and Christianity find? One thing is absolutely a fact. If our two faiths do find a common God, the one we'll end up with will not be Jehovah nor will we bow a knee to Christ any longer.
While I do not know President Bush's heart, I am deeply concerned that anyone claiming to be a born-again Christian, even in the interest of political or diplomatic gain, would suggest it is possible for these two polarized religions to find a "common God."
Comments: Let me say off the bat that I am not questioning whether President Bush is saved or not; only God knows that. I have prayed for this dear man who has the most stressful job in the world. He is under tremendous pressure to be a president to all Americans whether they’re Jews, Muslims, professing Christians, agnostics or atheists. Christian principles are sometimes compromised as a result. Another down side is the influence of his father, George Sr., who’s believed to be a Freemason and who coined the phrase “a New World Order” during the 1991 Operation Desert Storm to liberate Kuwait from the clutches of Saddam Hussein.
Being that the younger Bush is a member of the Methodist Church, he’s just following the canons of that particular mainline Protestant denomination. Methodists are ammillennial, Replacement Theology, no Rapture proponents. To them, Israel has been replaced by the Church thus Israel has no special significance. It has been the intense lobbying by American Jews in the U.S. Congress that has the President looking out for Israel’s safety and security, otherwise, he would have sold Israel down the river by now. The Arabs’ control of Middle East oil is the main reason for the U.S. interest in that region, not the safeguarding of Israel as a nation. What about Condi Rice who is supposedly a Christian also? We know she’s doing the bidding of her boss, the President, however, by applying the pressure on Israel to make peace. Due to Christian Zionists’ fervent prayer for the peace of Jerusalem, God has adjusted His timetable a bit, but all prophecies will come to past. Professing believers such as President Bush, Ms. Rice and even Rick Warren are unwitting players on God’s prophetic stage helping to bring about the false peace, the revealing of the Antichrist and False Prophet, and the Tribulation Period events.
Michael Mickey is beside himself about the President being a born-again Christian yet Mr. Bush is pushing Israel toward Middle East peace. Well, a lot of Christians aren’t aware of Daniel 9:27 or that it would be a death sentence once Israel signs the peace accords. These believers avoid Bible prophecy like the plague. They’re clueless about the end times. On the contrary, they believe peace is desirable in the Middle East for that would herald worldwide peace and prosperity for their children and grandchildren. For them, Jesus isn’t returning any time soon and some even say when we were saved, Jesus came into our heart spiritually. No physical return.

This new book is meant to inaugurate the rebirth of mankind and the acceptance of gay marriage in God's kingdom.

Tim Fleming, like the rock group The Rolling Stones, is a member of K.I.S.S. (a knight in Satan’s service). This free perverted bible (I use lowercase ‘b’ to distinguish it from God’s pure Word) version came straight from the pit of Hell and will damn Mr. Fleming and his publishers for subtracting and adding to God’s Word. Notice that the entire Old Testament is missing which ought to inflame Jews and Christians alike. Compounding Mr. Fleming’s flagrant sin is the promotion of the abhorrent gay lifestyle. In all my years of being a watcher, I have never witnessed such flagrant attack on the Holy Bible. Mr. Fleming makes Eugene Peterson’s “The Message”, a humanistic paraphrase, seems little league by comparison. I wonder if Rick Warren will endorse Mr. Fleming’s literary work like he did with Peterson’s offering?
There’s little doubt about the underlying motive of Mr. Fleming. He’s been duped by Satan to deceive the gay community and its sympathetic supporters. He’s attempting to validate their lifestyle and make it acceptable because he supposedly received new revelation from God that homosexuality is perfectly acceptable. Surely, if the Creator of man gave His Divine consent, then it must be OK. The unsaved gay persons couldn’t care less if God approves of their same gender leanings. They’re staying gay no matter what. For the gay clergy (many of them not even saved; religious yet lost), Mr. Fleming has granted them God’s seal of approval. They will be in for a rude awakening when after they die, they end up in a lost eternity and stand before Judge Jesus and when the pronouncement of their sins is given, they will be speechless. After they’re cast into the Lake of Fire which burns forever, their minds will cry out to Jesus over and over again with, “But, Tim Fleming said it was acceptable and he said God told him it was so!!!!.” Jude 1:[7] Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Iran rules out "North Korean Model"

February 15, 2007 -- After North Korea signed an agreement to end its nuclear weapons program, Iran issued a swift statement dashing hopes that negotiations and sanctions could cause Tehran to follow Pyongyang's path.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini, said Tuesday that "Tehran will never agree to suspend its peaceful nuclear activities," the Fars News Agency reported.
Comments: Never say never. Even though there’s no hard evidence that Iran has nukes in its military arsenal, the defiant Iranians vowed not to follow North Korea’s capitulation toward the U.S. and the Free World. All that work by North Korean’s scientists, all those N. Korean threats against Alaska and Japan, and all those verbal jousts going back and forth between Washington and Pyongyang were for what? North Korea will turn over its nukes for decommissioning and humanitarian aid will flow to feed all those starving North Koreans. This is similar to what Libya did in its 180 degree turnaround change of mind and stopped its flaming against the U.S. Libya was conferred preferred status and its country is no longer isolated politically and economically.
Will Iran somehow follow the examples of Libya and North Korea? The crazed Iranian rulers seem to reject that very notion. It’s still death and destruction to America and to Israel. Many Bible prophecy authors and students believe Iran won’t back down from international pressure to give up its nuclear program no matter what. Ezekiel 38 and 39 are waiting to be played out and the timing just seems to be right. However, as watchers, we have seen crises fizzle just when things were going according to prophecy. Take the example of the Summer of 2000 when Israel and the Palestinians were so agonizingly close to signing THE peace treaty of Daniel 9:27. Never before had it been that close to THE deal. All the world waited with abated breath as Yasser Arafat was about to say “YES!!”, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Arafat flew back to the Gaza Strip and President Clinton was left crying over his Tequila. In the same respect, Iran could pull a North Korean copycat maneuver at the last possible moment just when American and Israeli bombers and fighter jets are gunning their engines.
