Middle East talks end without progress

19 February 2007 – A meeting that Israeli and Palestinian leaders held on Monday with Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary of state, matched its low expectations when they agreed on little more substantial than a willingness to meet again.
After talks with Ehud Olmert, the Israeli prime minister, and Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority president, that lasted just over two hours, Ms Rice said the three affirmed their commitment to a two-state solution of the Middle East conflict.
Ms Rice read a prepared statement in which she said the meeting had been useful and productive, but neither she nor her interlocutors offered any further comment on what had originally been billed as the forum for a possible breakthrough.
Against the background of Mr Abbas’s deal to create a national unity government with the ruling Hamas party – regarded by Washington as a terrorist organisation – earlier hopes that the meeting would dramatically jump-start the stalled peace process had already faded.

Neither the US nor Israel believes the Mecca accord, in which Hamas agreed to “respect” existing agreements with Israel, went far enough.
Ismail Haniyeh, the
Hamas prime minister who resigned along with his cabinet last week, has up to
five weeks to form a government in which Fatah and independents will share
power.
Comments: Another disappointing meeting for Israel, the Palestinians and Condoleezza Rice. Even though the talks are set to continue it doesn’t look like there will be any breakthrough any time soon. In fact, just to make the point clear and even a Slap in the face to the Palestinians, Condoleezza said “there is no certainty that a Palestinian state would emerge during the tenure of President George W. Bush.” So unless the Hamas the leadership recognises Israel as a legitimate state the talks will go nowhere. The PA Unity government has helped to stop a civil war (for now) between Fatah and hamas but the money, which is the most important thing they were hoping for, is still not coming. Now they will go onto the Quartet meeting Wednesday and hope for a breakthrough but without concessions the peace process will faulter. Lets see what this next meeting will bring in Brussels

Iran To Resume Nuclear Talks Just Before UN Deadline

06 February 2007 – Iran said Monday it would resume nuclear talks just before a
United Nations
Security Council
deadline to halt its uranium enrichment programme by February 21.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said in a press conference that Iranian
chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani would meet EU foreign policy chief Javier
Solana.
Mottaki did neither disclose the venue nor date of the meeting, but stressed
however that the two agreed "to resume talks at the point where they (had been)
cut."
Mottaki hoped that the two officials could reach the most suitable result, which
he said was Iran maintaining its rights and the West being reassured that Tehran
was pursuing civilian nuclear projects only.
He added that in his recent contacts with his counterparts, the ground was still
prepared to settle the nuclear dispute through diplomatic negotiations and by
skipping the political aspects.
Meanwhile International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) envoy Ali- Asqar Soltanieh
confirmed in an interview with state news agency IRNA that Larijani would meet
with IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei in Vienna on Tuesday, just one day before the
UN deadline.
Comments: Two days left until the UN deadline and more sanctions will be coming after Iran defied a 60-day council deadline to stop enriching uranium. New talks are in the works between Ali Larijani and Javier Solana but like all previous talks they have never amounted to much. Iran is still bound and determined to reach their Nuclear goal and as a show of force, Iran Launches Large-Scale War Games Ahead of U.N. Deadline. “As tensions mount over Iran's nuclear standoff with the West, the United States and Iran have pursued an escalating series of military moves, with Washington sending more aircraft carrier battle groups to the region and Iran responding with more frequent maneuvers”.
A new report coming from the BBC says US 'Iran attack plans' revealed. This report says that there are two triggers for an attack against Iran which are… 1. “Any confirmation that Iran was developing a nuclear weapon - which it denies.” 2. “A high-casualty attack on US forces in neighboring Iraq could also trigger a bombing campaign if it were traced directly back to Tehran.”
Another interesting piece of news (today) is Russia delays Iran atomic power plant start-up due to slow payments coming from Iran. That won’t stop Iran from reaching their goal but it may slow them down a little. No matter how you look at it, as we get closer to the spring and summer months, all indications point to the escalation of tensions with Iran.

'Antichrist' followers show loyalty with '666' tattoos

February 19, 2007 -- Surrounded by a mob of news cameras, a group of smiling, well-dressed church members crowded into a South Beach storefront parlor on a recent muggy evening and got matching tattoos of their prophet's symbol: 666.
Members of Growing in Grace, a controversial religious sect headquartered in Doral, said they were following the example of their leader, Jose Luis De Jesus Miranda, who has claimed to be Jesus and recently declared himself the Antichrist.
Critics have called De Jesus a cult leader who manipulates followers. Church members say he has brought them happiness and spiritual fulfillment.
Comments: Mark 13:[22] For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. 1 John 2:[18] Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. Jesus is the greatest prophet because He’s God and He is true to His words about the last time. Is there any doubt we’re living in the end times prior to Jesus’s physical return? The aforementioned two verses are right on the mark. Jose Luis De Jesus Miranda fits the description of a false Christ and an antichrist type right to the “T”. He’s a deceiver, charismatic, a power tripper, prideful, arrogant, and a usurper of the Lord Jesus Christ. The word ‘antichrist’ not only denotes opposing Christ, but can also mean taking the place of Christ. Jose Luis De Jesus Miranda’s foolish followers have been completely brainwashed. They see in this man a manifestation of Jesus who has brought them happiness and spiritual fulfillment. The same was said about Jimmy Jones who led over 900 of his gullible sheep to their deaths by ingesting poisoned grape juice in Jonestown, Guyana, South America in the late 1970s.
These are spiritually darkened days indeed. The fascination with the Mark of the Beast 666 enthralls many. Duped by the Devil, the multitude run after false Christs at the drop of a hat. You would think that after having Jose Luis De Jesus Miranda declared himself to be the Antichrist, a big red flag would have popped inside their heads, but no. The Antichrist cannot appear on the world’s scene while pre-Rapture Christians are still here. Jose Luis De Jesus Miranda is a fake, a charlatan. His followers are beyond hope except for a miracle from God’s Holy Spirit to shake them from their blinded stupor. If not, their destiny is Hell and God’s ultimate judgment reserved for them and Jose Luis De Jesus Miranda.

British Government might block building 'supermosque' in London

February 19, 2007 -- The British government is likely to block plans to build a 'supermosque' on a site close to the venue of the 2012 Olympics in east London.
The supermosque, called London Markaz, is supposed to have room for 70,000 worshippers. The group behind the project is reported to be Tablighi Jamaat, whose charitable trust, the Anjuman-e-Islahul Muslimeen, owns the 18-acre site.
According to the Sunday Telegraph, the Tablighi Jamaat was called 'an ante-chamber for fundamentalism' by French security services, and two of the July 7 London suicide bombers had reportedly attended one of its mosques.
Comments: When British Muslims build mosques, they certainly don’t do it the Canadian way which is erecting a little mosque on the Prairies. The Brits supersize theirs. Wouldn’t that be the spectacle for the world to see, a supermosque in close vicinity to the 2012 London Olympics? The viewers would think Islam has taken over the English landscape. Well, Islam has pretty well infiltrated much of Europe and the British Isles were the last bastion. Now, even that has been knocked down by the relentless Muslim battering rams.
We have speculated that the Antichrist could very well be a Muslim rather than a white European. An Islamic worldwide empire in which each Earth citizen has to bow down before the Antichrist and Allah isn’t inconceivable given the recent dialogues between Roman Catholicism and Islam for the purpose of mutual accommodation. You can could be either or even a Hindu, Buddhist, Taoist, or a native spiritualist as long as you’re not a Christian. Pagan god worship is mandated, but the Son of God will be vilified as well as all of His followers.
Islam is a violent religion that converts by the edge of the sword. Presently, there’s a worldwide movement to soften the religion so as to make it more palatable for the masses to accept. It’s working because of the many reports of people who have left organized Christianity for the lure of Islam. Even godless Communists can’t fight the scourge of Islam. When you have 1.3 billion Communists, 1.2 billion Catholics, 900 million Muslims, 850 million Hindus and Buddhists, and the rest worshipping pagan gods, add them all up and your math tells you that almost the entire world is under the power of the Devil. Only a sprinkling of about 100 million true Christians won’t bow down to Baal. Luke 13:[23] Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, [24] Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

Anglican churches back plan to unite under Pope Benedict

February 19, 2007 -- Radical proposals to reunite Anglicans with the Roman Catholic Church under the leadership of the Pope are to be published this year, The Times has learnt. The proposals have been agreed by senior bishops of both churches.
In a 42-page statement prepared by an international commission of both churches, Anglicans and Roman Catholics are urged to explore how they might reunite under the Pope.
The statement, leaked to The Times, is being considered by the Vatican, where Catholic bishops are preparing a formal response.
Comments: As with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the sudden collapse of the USSR which I thought would never happen in my lifetime, I might be witnessing the most improbable of possibilities in the reunification of Protestants with Roman Catholics. The prodigal daughters are returning to the mother church. What would Martin Luther think if he were alive today? Did the Protestant martyrs die at the burning stakes for nothing? Was the Reformation a mistake after all? What’s compelling the turncoat Anglicans to grovel at the feet of Pope Benedict?
Ecumenism may be a success after all. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the Vatican and ably assisted by Billy Graham, Robert Schuller and other notable Protestant betrayers of the faith, Protestants and Catholics Together (PCT) is on the verge of becoming a reality. How could evangelical Christians possibly want to be joined at the spiritual hip with Roman Catholicism whose roots could be traced way back to ancient pagan Babylon? You can shake your head in consternation and wonder if the Protestants have lost their senses? It’s more like they’ve lost their spiritual moorings. Instead of holding fast to God’s Word to come out of the darkened RCC and remain apart, they have turned their backs toward God and have succumbed to the spiritual seduction of Satan’s top henchman, Pope Benedict. This pope has been more active in the short time he’s been on the job that his predecessor, John Paul II. Pope Benedict is a veritable workhorse. He might very well turn out to be the False Prophet. I can just see him sporting a Dr. Seuss wide grin at that thought.
