Israeli PM warns of 'severe steps' against Iran
Source: DNA
24 January 2006 – Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Wednesday warned that if the world's diplomatic efforts to stop Iran's nuclear programme fail, then "much more severe steps" should be taken.
"It is clear to everyone that a diplomatic solution to the Iranian issue is the preferred solution. We also prefer such an outcome," Olmert said in a keynote speech on the last day of the annual conference on Israel's national security in the town of Herzliya, north of Tel Aviv.
If the world turns "a blind eye now, while ignoring reality... those of us who wish to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power will, down the road, not be left with any choice but to take much more severe steps in the future," he said.
Israel and the West accuse Iran of seeking to acquire an atomic bomb through its nuclear programme, which Tehran insists is solely for peaceful purposes.
Coupled with
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's repeated calls for the destruction of
the Jewish state, Israel -- considered the sole nuclear power in the Middle East
-- has come to consider the Islamic republic as an existential threat. "Anyone
who threatens us, who threatens our existence, must know that we have the
determination and capability to defend ourselves, responding with force,
discretion and with all means at our disposal," Olmert said.
Comments: Not a day goes by without hearing the U.S., Iran or Israel posturing for war. The problem that Israel and the U.S. are facing is a window of opportunity that is slowly starting to close. Before that window closes, they know they will have to act if a diplomatic solution isn’t found soon. The Bushehr nuclear power plant is set to begin operation late summer and if that plant were to go online that is the window closed for good. The nuclear power plant online will be Iran’s last step before they have the capability to build their bomb. Reports yesterday say that Iran is getting help from North Korea and if this is the case, Iran will be able to complete their project faster with North Korea’s help. So as the window of opportunity starts to close in late summer, the war of words will heat up but I suspect we won’t have to wait that long before someone acts to put Iran out of business. The fate of Israel is at stake and Olmert is much more determined with Iran than he was with Hezbollah last summer.
U.N.: BALKANS AND MIDDLE EAST TOP BAN'S AGENDA IN EUROPE
Source: Global Information Gateway
24 January 2006
– Serbia's elections and the future
status of its breakaway province of Kosovo, as well as the situation in the
Middle East, Sudan's troubled Darfur province and Somalia were expected to top
the agenda at United Nations Secretary general Ban Ki-moon's meetings on
Wednesday in Brussels with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana
and later in the day with NATO secretary general Jaap de Hoop Scheffer. Ban
is at the start of his first overseas trip since taking the reins at the UN on 1
January - a five day tour through Monday that takes in Europe and Africa.
There is no formal agenda for Ban's meeting with de Hoop Scheffer and NATO
ambassadors at the Alliance's headquarters in Brussels. But all NATO operations
under UN mandate, including those in insurgency-wracked Afghanistan, in
UN-administered Kosovo (KFOR) and NATO support for the African Union's airlift
to Darfur, are likely to be discussed, a NATO spokeswoman told Adnkronos
International
Comments:
The first stop on Ban Ki Moons first official
trip is Europe and the first meeting is with Javier Solana. Remember, it was
earlier this month when Mr Moon met Javier Solana and Solana said… “three
issues, including that of the Middle East at large, should be dealt with
"rapidly." "We have three main geographical problems that we have to tackle, and
tackle rapidly," Solana told reporters following a meeting with Ban. They are
the Middle East, Darfur and Somalia in Africa, and Kosovo. Solana also said
“"Within the Middle East, I would like to insist as strongly as possible, that
we have to tackle the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians. I hope
very much that he (Ban) will also play an important role in invigorating the
Quartet," he said…
"This must be for us a priority of great significance at this period of
time," he added.

EU ready for more military operations, Solana says
Source: EUObserver
January 24, 2007 -- Europe says it is ready for more military action under the EU flag in 2007 after its "success" in Congo last year, with the German EU presidency putting Kosovo, Bosnia, Lebanon and Afghanistan at the top of its defence agenda for the next six months.
"We begin 2007 ready to take up our responsibilities if needed - which I sincerely hope won't be the case - but we are in a position of readiness," EU top diplomat Javier Solana said in Brussels on Wednesday (17 January), after recalling that the EU's "battle group" structure reached "full operational capacity" on 1 January.
The EU now has two units that can be deployed for "crisis-management" anywhere in the world 10 days after member states take a unanimous vote, in a decision that would "as a rule" follow a UN security council resolution but that could also see the EU go it alone.
Comments: If you’re the Lone Ranger, you need your sidekick Tonto, right? But, if you’re the EU, flying solo is the way to go. Americanos, go home! We don’t need you meddling in our European affairs. In fact, the world’s trouble‑spots would probably prefer the EU military to make things right. The world, as a whole, does not trust the U.S., but Europeans are acceptable to the ever growing Islamic world. Even Africa with all its turmoil and bloody conflicts would welcome the Europeans’ intervention in civil wars and humanitarian efforts.
The time may have finally arrived for the EU to upstage the U.S. as the world’s supercop. With President Bush basically relegated to a lame duck role and Americans generally sickened of mounting U.S. service personnel deaths and injuries in Iraq and Afghanistan, the EU is primed to take over the baton from America. Senõr Solona is once again in the limelight as he speaks for the EU about military readiness and more importantly, the zeal to go into areas and regions where there’s a take no prisoner mentality. January 1, 2007 was not only the start of the EU’s 7‑year budget flushed with billions of euros to spend, but its military is champing at the bit to kick some derriere anyplace in the world. We have discussed in the past that in order for the Antichrist to effectively rule the world, he has to have the largest, meanest and most proficient military around. The EU’s military, although in its infant stage, could easily and quickly grow into that monster unit. Revelation 13:[4] And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? [7] And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Tom Cruise 'is the new Christ' of Scientology
Source: thesun.co.uk
January 24, 2007 -- Tom Cruise is the new “Christ” of Scientology, according to leaders of the cult-like religion.
The Mission: Impossible star has been told he has been “chosen” to spread the word of his faith throughout the world.
And leader David Miscavige believes that in future, Cruise, 44, will be worshipped like Jesus for his work to raise awareness of the religion.
A source close to the actor, who has risen to one of the church’s top levels, said: “Tom has been told he is Scientology’s Christ-like figure.
Comments: Matthew 24:[24] For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Actor Tom Cruise is a false Christ. For many years now, this “Top Gun”, “Mission Impossible” and “War of the Worlds” actor has mesmerized male and female movie goers alike with his charisma. His boyishly handsome face has enthralled women internationally. He had such a huge following even before he delved into Scientology, a cult that expands one’s mind to receive cosmic demonic entities that entrap and enslave their adherents. Satan is the creator of all cults. He facilitates their birth and growth. Even unsuspecting Christians can be misled into joining Scientology to experience its mind altering effects.
It’s ironic though to think that some of Hollywood’s most famous and vulgar stars have embraced Mr. Cruise’s Scientology with wide open arms. These partakers and promoters of blasphemous, homosexual and generally immoral films would fittingly be joined to a Hell damming cult. Such are the just desserts for these Christ rejecters. They’ve turned aside the true Christ of the Bible and are running after the false Christ Tom Cruise who is leading them into Satan’s lair that has a trap door with a direct route to the Lake of Fire. When God gives up a person to his/her pride and lustful desires, He permits them to have things their way.

Strategist: Iran believes it could destroy Israel with a single nuke
Source: World Tribune
January 24, 2007 -- Iran's nuclear program seeks first-strike capability against Israel, a leading strategist said.
The Israeli strategist and former intelligence officer said Iran believes it could destroy the Jewish state with one nuclear weapon.
"Iranians believe that it holds, may hold, a first strike capability against Israel once it has a nuclear capability," said Shmuel Bar, director of studies at the Institute of Police and Strategy.
Iran believes "that Israel is a one-bomb country, one bomb from the point-of-view of the receiving side; that the U.S. would not intervene against Iran under such conditions; and all of that with apocalyptic zeal may result in actual use of nuclear weapons," he said.
Comments: The chances of Israel being annihilated by one nuke are zero and NIL. Who says so? The God of Heaven and Earth is the guarantor of Israel’s security and eternal existence. Who could ask for 100% surety? Pompous Iran really thinks it can obliterate the Jewish State so let it try. Iran, Pakistan, Russia and China could point 2,000 nukes and attempt to launch them all at once and God would ensure that the launch mechanisms would malfunction. Of if He allows one or two to be airborne, He would personally destroy them Himself in His righteous anger. Even though Israel is back in her land in unbelief and her blind spiritual and political leaders continue to spurn His Son Jesus as Israel’s Messiah and Savior, God will still fulfill His age old promise to Abraham’s seeds through Isaac and Jacob (later renamed to Israel) that He would bless them forever. That means no physical destruction of the land of Israel. It will be Israel’s enemies who will incur fire from Heaven. Ezekiel 39:[6] And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
From a strategic standpoint, Israel is about the same size as the State of New Jersey. One large size nuke and its wide area fallout could decimate the entire country rendering it uninhabitable. Israel would of course respond with vengeance and it would likely take several nukes to wipe out all of Iran’s populated cities and towns. Being that Israel has a propensity to launch pre‑emptive strikes, Iran better be prepared to launch first. We get the sense that sometime in 2007, either the U.S. or Israel will finally deal with Iran’s clandestine rogue nuclear program. The verbal jousts will give way to B-52 bombers and F-14 fighter jet backups and when the radioactive air finally clears 12 months later, the last man standing will be Israel. Surprise!
