January 10, 2007 -- Being dead is no longer an excuse for not staying in touch.
A Houston man has started an online service that allows a person to send e-mail posthumously.
The service, called Deathswitch, ensures that critical personal information will survive, even when a person dies unexpectedly, company founder David Eagleman said.
After Deathswitch subscribers pass on, the company sends e-mail to intended recipients — anything from computer passwords or a love note to "the last word in an argument," he said.
The service is $19.95 per year — only while the subscriber is alive, of course.
An assistant professor of neuroscience and psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine, Eagleman, 35, also buys and restores old houses and has written three science books and a collection of short stories.
He launched Deathswitch.com a few months ago, and through word-of-mouth has about 100 subscribers.
The idea for Deathswitch came from his love of the Internet and "how it can extend our human experience." As society moves further into bionics, robotics and new uses for the Internet, the definition of being human is changing, Eagleman said.
"It would be so interesting to receive e-mail from someone who passed away," he said, adding. "I don't think there's any honor in being silent in death."
Comments: Either there were 100 suckers who dished out $19.95 annually or 100 occultists who actually believed the dead can communicate with the living. In this day and age of Satanism and the occult, countless millions delve in the dark side of things. Satan is the prince of darkness and he has no shortage of followers eager to immerse themselves in his evil devices. Their souls are laid bare for him to manipulate and exploit. Being the willing dupes that they are, they really do believe he can perform miracles such as extending life beyond the grave. I know $19.95 is chump change to some people, but of the 100 who have signed on with Deathwitch, I surmise that the majority really did foresee composing e-mail messages on the other side of the portal of death. It’s a tribute to Satan’s deftness at lying that these people could be so readily taken in by this wily veteran of the con game.
God has told us in His Word that death closes the door to eternal life if one has died without Christ. The resultant fate is Hell, the holding area for the dammed who wait for the day when they’ll be cast into the Lake of Fire to be punished for an eternity. In Hell, there are no PCs, laptops, PDAs, smart phones or any such gadgets that can send e-mails. Death ends all further communications with the living.

Man fights to take wife's name in marriage
Source: ABC News
January 10, 2007 -- What's in a name? Before Michael Buday married his fiancée, Diana Bijon, he decided to honor her family by bucking tradition and taking her last name. But, it wasn't so easy.
Under California state law, he needed to pay more than $300, go to court, file a petition, and publicly advertise his name change for four weeks in a local newspaper. If he had simply gone along with tradition, it would have cost only $50 to $80.
So Buday, 29, went to court, along with the ACLU, to change the law. They recently announced their plans to sue the California Department of Health Services, which oversees marriage licenses and name changes.
After years of fighting for women's rights, the ACLU is now battling for equal rights for men.
California is one of 44 states with unequal name change laws for people getting married. Right now, only six states — Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Massachusetts, New York and North Dakota — explicitly allow a man to change his name through marriage with the same ease as a woman can.
Comments: The ACLU has gotten its busybody hands dirty once more fighting the traditional family concept. The ACLU is a leftist liberal anti‑God organization headed by Satan himself. Whatever God has set up as godly matrimonial principles by which a married couple is to uphold, the unholy ACLU comes along and upsets the apple cart. This Michael Buday could have changed any part of his name and kept quiet and no news headline would make the rounds. But, oh no. Instead he chose to defy the God of Heaven. For this rebel, it wasn’t about the higher cost; it was about how God was unfair to married men who elect to take the surname of their wives.
In the book of Genesis, Adam was created first and Eve was produced from one of Adam’s ribs. Man is to take for himself a bride. She is to leave her family behind and cleave to her husband and take his surname. Yes, Hollywood has made fun of some famous couples with “Mr. Lee Majors Fawcett [formerly married to Farah Fawcett]”, “Kevin Federline Spears [formerly married to Britney Spears]”, “Gary Chapman Grant [formerly married to Amy Grant]”, but that was done in jest. Michael Buday, however, is determined to challenge and change the California law. This is just another downward step on the ladder of spiritual declension in America following the likes of gays and lesbian acceptance and accommodations, child adoption by same gender parents, transgender, etc.

Canada’s B.C. Christians oppose yoga in public schools
Source: Winnipeg Free Press Online
January 10, 2007 -- Some Christians in Quesnel, B.C., are taking aim at a province-wide public-school program that uses yoga to promote fitness.
"Supposedly we do not allow religion in schools, and yoga is a religion," said cattle rancher Audrey Cummings, 68, who filed a complaint with the Quesnel school board and the education ministry over the Action Schools program. Quesnel is in the B.C. interior about 90 kilometres south of Prince George.
"I don't see what's the difference between that, and saying we're going to have the Lord's Prayer in the morning and the kids that don't want to don't have to participate."
The yoga exercises are presented from cards given to staff at schools participating in Action Schools. The program, which includes many other fitness-related materials, is run by a private organization paid by the education ministry. More than 1,100 elementary, middle and secondary schools in the province are signed on to Action Schools, with 247,830 students registered in the program.
Yoga turns kids' minds toward Hindu gods, Cummings said.
"If you're not seeking the God of the Bible, His power, then by default you're in the other camp," Cummings said. "The other source of supernatural power is Satan." Yoga teachings can be traced back to scriptures at the roots of Hinduism.
Six schools in the Quesnel district participate in Action Schools. Teachers may use elements from the program's kit at the start of the day or at times throughout, to keep kids active, said district superintendent Sue-Ellen Miller.
Teachers use the yoga cards at their discretion, Miller said. If a parent or student takes issue with yoga, alternate exercises will be provided for the pupil in question, Miller said.
"We would never mandate that a child do them," Miller said.
Action Schools is not part of the mandatory schools curriculum, and the yoga component focuses on stretching and breathing, said Education Minister Shirley Bond.
"There is not an intent to have a philosophic or religious intent for this," Bond said. "We're trying to deal with the issue of obesity. We're trying to find as many ways as possible to engage our children in healthy and active lifestyles."
For Vancouver yoga instructor and former kindergarten teacher Mara Branscombe, yoga is not a religious practice, and she says it offers tremendous benefits to schoolchildren. "Yoga brings clarity to the mind," Branscombe said. "The benefits are huge in terms of productivity."
The practice promotes an optimal state for student learning, Branscombe said.
Comments: Yoga is most certainly a religious practice! In fact, the gurus in India are quite upset with Western society’s hi‑jacking of yoga and its seemly separation of the exercise portion from the religious other half. The Hindus don’t do that to Christianity and it peeves them that so called Christians are doing this to yoga. Christian yoga is a contradiction of terms. It’s delving into Hindu’s paganism. It’s about sitting down and meditating in absolute quiet as to empty one’s mind (i.e. achieve an altered state of consciousness) and allow spiritual entity(ies) [demonic in origin] to take control of the mind. The twisting and odd physical stances may make you look like a contortionist and could assist you in attaining a trimmer body and all around physical well being, but is it worth it to yield yourself to demons? Of course not! Hindus don’t disguise this fact, but well intentioned Christian instructors think they can ward off demons (in fact, some don’t even believe in demonic possession) and protect their students.
Christian parents ought to be very wary of yoga for children. The young minds are quite impressionable and easily accessible to demonic influences. Don’t permit any adult or school system to introduce yoga into the school curriculum. If you do, you’re not fulfilling your parental responsibility to protect your kids from known agents that harm the mind. Also, the yoga positions could adversely affect the spinal cord, joints and cartilages. Say NO to yoga!

Spain and Luxembourg call for 'pride' in EU constitution
Source: EU Observer
09
January 2006 – EU states that have ratified the shelved European
constitution must defend it with pride, say senior officials in
Luxembourg and Spain ahead of a "friends of the EU constitution"
conference in Madrid later this month.
"Those of us that have ratified [the constitution] must be proud of
it," said Spanish foreign affairs minister Miguel Angel Moratinos
adding that the ratifiers should not have to justify their choice.
"We should be] open and constructive but defending our principles
and values, and the existence of a treaty that we consider a
fundamental element," he said, according to Spanish daily El Mundo.
The minister was in Luxembourg on Monday (8 January) to meet with
the country's foreign minister Jean Asselborn.
The two are preparing a conference on 26 January for the 18 EU
member states that have ratified the constitution - both before and
after French and Dutch voters rejected the charter in 2005.
Comments: Update; This meeting (on the 26th of January) will bring together all the members of the EU that have ratified the Charter and will leave out all those who have not done so. Leaving out the 9 EU members who have rejected or not taken steps to ratify the text will be a snub to those members and may boost those 9 members to get the task completed. That is the plan of Miguel Angel Moratinos but it remains to be seen if it will work or not. As we know Germany holds the rotating presidency and one of their main priorities is to get the constitution back on track and this meeting will be a welcomed gathering for Merkel. It may or may not be attended by the Euro elite but it is worth keeping an eye on when the 18 members celebrate the “friends of the EU constitution” later this month.
Egypt to press deal on Middle East "final status"
Source:
10 January 2006 – Egypt and Jordan will press for agreement on "final status" issues between Israel and the Palestinians, the Egyptian foreign minister said on Wednesday, days before a visit by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit told a news conference that the quest should take precedence over the Middle East peace plan known as the road map, announced by international mediators in 2003 but never fully implemented.
"There is a common position by Egypt, Jordan, the Arabs and the Palestinians calling for 'let us agree on the end of the road and let us agree on what we call...the end game before we talk about the road map'," he said.
Egypt has floated the same idea before, but it did so this time two days before Rice leaves on a Middle East tour billed as another drive to revive
For the past few years, peace moves have concentrated on trying to bring about small confidence-building measures, leaving aside bigger questions such as the borders of a future Palestinian state or the fate of Palestinian refugees.
The Egyptian campaign for a rethink, backed to some
extent by Jordan, has made little difference to the policies of the
United States, which continues to propose short-term measures by
Israelis and Palestinians.
