Hurricane center chief issues final warning
Source: LA Times
04 January 2006 –
Frustrated
with people and politicians who refuse to listen or learn,
National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield ends his
34-year government career today in search of a new platform for
getting out his unwelcome message: Hurricane Katrina was nothing
compared with the big one yet to come.
Mayfield, 58, leaves his high-profile job with the National Weather
Service more convinced than ever that U.S. residents of the
Southeast are risking unprecedented tragedy by continuing to build
vulnerable homes in the tropical storm zone and failing to plan
escape routes.
He pointed to southern Florida's 7 million coastal residents.
"We're eventually going to get a strong enough storm in a densely
populated area to have a major disaster," he said. "I know people
don't want to hear this, and I'm generally a very positive person,
but we're setting ourselves up for this major disaster."
More than 1,300 deaths across the Gulf Coast were attributed to
Hurricane Katrina, the worst human toll from a weather event in the
United States since the 1920s.
But Mayfield warns that 10 times as many fatalities could occur
in what he sees as an inevitable strike by a huge storm during the
current highly active hurricane cycle, which is expected to last
another 10 to 20 years.
Comments: If Max Mayfield is right, the odds are not looking good for South Florida this coming hurricane season and beyond. With warmer than normal temperatures and an (article) El Nino Means 2007 Likely To Be Hottest Year On Record, the waters in the South Atlantic and Gulf coast will most likely be at a record levels due to global warming even though the El Nino is in the Eastern Pacific region. So If Max Mayfield is right, building a house in the South East (Florida) might be the same as building a house next to a rumbling volcano that is ready to explode. I’m sure Max Mayfield would know what he is talking about since he is the director of the National Hurricane Center and he wouldn’t have got there if he didn’t know what he was doing. Max reminds me of a modern day Noah, warning the residents to get out while you still can but not many are listening.
Lu 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

04 January 2006 – Israel, which as a nation does not celebrate the Gregorian New Year, nonetheless woke up on January 1 to learn that their little country is set to be more than ever at the center of world scrutiny and pressure in 2007.
In an interview published concomitant with his assumption of office on the first day of the year, brand new United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon revealed that he, like British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the majority of world leaders, saw solving the Israel-‘Palestine’ conflict as key to sorting out the rest of the mess in the Middle East.
…
Jerusalem holds that the roots of the problem in the region are “terrorism, Islamic radicalism and extremism, and hatred of the West.”
In its ‘war on terror’ the United States under President George W. Bush has been inclined to address the threat from a point closer to Israel’s – confronting the merchants of jihad and giving Israel a little more room to maneuver.
That relative “grace period” is now thought to be over. With Washington having to give the lion’s share of its attention to Iraq – where 3000 US servicemen have lost their lives – the UN and the EU are free to move things forward in line with the Blair-Ban point of view.
For Israel this means that last Monday heralded anything but a “happy” New Year.
From a biblical perspective, however, the position adopted from the get-go by the new UN chief signals that the day of Israel’s redemption wil soon be here.
Comments: Ban Ki-Moon has come out of the gate and into his new job with his sights set on Israel. This will mean trouble for Israel because these world leaders will settle for nothing less than a Palestinian state and Israel giving up her land for peace that will not prevail. Like this article explains, with the U.S. tied up in Iraq, the EU and UN can focus in on the Israel Palestinian problem and force Israel to do what they shouldn’t do. The leaders of the world are now more than ever burdening themselves with Jerusalem just as the bible predicted. There is no doubt that Israel’s redemption will soon be here because all the warning signs are right before us. The last sentence in the article above hit the nail right on the head and the good thing about that is… that they (The Jews) know it too.
Zec 12:2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
Zec 12:3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
Second U.S. carrier group to deploy to Gulf
Source: Ruters
03 January 2006 – The Pentagon will send a second aircraft carrier and its escort ships to the Gulf, defense officials said on Wednesday, as a warning to Syria and Iran and to give commanders more flexibility in the region.
Officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Bremerton, Washington-based USS John C. Stennis strike group would deploy this month. It will put 5,000 more U.S. sailors in the region, bringing the total to 16,000.
The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier group entered the Gulf in December.
Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman declined to comment, saying the Defense Department would not discuss future deployments or ship movements. But military analysts said the move was intended to demonstrate U.S. resolve in the face of acts by Iran and Syria that it sees as provocative, such as Tehran's pursuit of its nuclear program.
The Stennis had been scheduled to deploy to the Pacific region. But the Pentagon agreed instead to send the carrier group to the Gulf after a request from U.S. Central Command, the military command responsible for Middle East operations.
Comments: update; yes there is trouble brewing in the Gulf and two aircraft carrier strike groups in the region will send a strong signal to Iran that the U.S. means business. The Eisenhower strike group is already in position and with the Stennis on its way, the temperature will be going up in Iran and Ahmadinejad will be getting nervous. It is looking more and more likely that either the U.S. or Israel (Or Both) are preparing for a strike on Iran nuclear installations and the pieces are moving into position. As I mentioned before, Iran’s Busher Nuclear Power Plant will be starting up in September and this would be almost too late for a strike. Many reports have said that Israel is expecting a war by the spring or summer months and these carriers moving in position could be a shadow of things to come.
