For Israelis, a new worry: Iran's nuclear intentions
Source: Baltimore Sun

19 January 2006 – In the pine-tree-shaded hills outside Jerusalem, the Israeli government is building a massive war bunker where top government officials would take shelter in case of a biological, chemical or nuclear attack.

The government ordered the construction of the labyrinth of underground tunnels and rooms years ago - long before the current fears of Iran's nuclear ambitions - but its expected completion date in the next year or two could not be more timely.

Israel's chief intelligence officer warned members of the Knesset last month that Iran could have a bomb by 2009, a weapon that Israelis increasingly worry that Tehran would not hesitate to use against the Jewish state. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has more than once vowed to "wipe Israel off the map."

Such a doomsday scenario might appear far-fetched, but in Israel concern over Iran's intentions has become a national obsession, creating new levels of anxiety as Iran vows to push ahead with its program in the face of United Nations Security Council sanctions.

Some Israeli hawks fear that the window for diplomacy with Iran is closing and that Israel may be forced to act alone to stop Tehran. Others dismiss such fears as hype, suggesting that there is plenty of time to work out a nonmilitary solution to the crisis.

Comments:  Its no wonder that the Doomsday clock was advanced foreword just last week, because this (article) is exactly what the scientists fear will bring about Armageddon. Ironically Israel will be at the centre of this future war and that scenario is becoming real and more likely as time goes by.  The problem with a Nuclear, Chemical or biological attack on Israel is that, any one of these weapons will have a devastating effect on this country that is so small. In order to avoid such a devastating blow Israel may resort to a pre-emptive strike to prevent the inevitable doomsday scenario. Even if they do resort to a pre-emptive strike that may only prolong the inevitable scenario. After all, the bible tells us it is coming sooner or later and Israel will be right in the middle of it.

Re 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

S Korea confirms new highly-virulent bird flu case

Source: China View

20 January 2006 The South Korean Agricultural Ministry confirmed Saturday that a new highly-virulent bird flu case has broken out in central South Korea despite quarantine efforts taken in the country.

"Breeding chickens in a poultry farm in Cheonan turned out to be infected with a highly-virulent strain of avian influenza," said a statement of the ministry.

"The farm is a concentrated breeding area where quarantine efforts have been made on an elevated scale after avian influenza was found there in Jan. 2004," it said.

Cheonan is located almost midway between Seoul and Iksan, 230 km south of Seoul, where the South Korean government confirmed on Nov. 25 last year the first bird flu outbreak since 2004.

According to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean government will slaughter all poultries, including 270,000 chickens and other poultries, within the 500 meter radius of the farm where the virus was found. The government also plans to set a restrict area within the 10 km around the farm.

In 2003 and 2004, South Korea destroyed 5.3 million poultry to prevent the spread of the disease.

Comments: All it will take to start a pandemic across the globe is a new strain of bird Flu like this one in South Korea. This is sure to cause concern for the World Health Organization as they watch this new strain emerge in almost the same location as the first outbreak in South Korea.  There is no telling how much of a threat this strain will be, but it looks like the government is not taking any chances and taking emergency measures to keep this in check. Already there are quarantine efforts in this area since 2004 but it looks like these efforts have failed. When a bird flu pandemic begins, there will be no stopping it from spreading. South Korea may be a shadow of things to come.

Israel Again Impatient to Make Peace - Even Without Partner
Source: Arutz

21 January 2006 –   The Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministries have set up a joint task force to prepare a plan for another one-sided disengagement - this time, from Judea and Samaria. The PA does not agree.

Israel's second-largest daily, Maariv, reports that taking part in the on-paper preparations for a unilateral Israeli withdrawal from Judea and Samaria are also IDF and General Security Service (Shabak) officials.

The Prime Minister's Office's official comment to the Maariv report: "We know nothing about such a plan."

The plan currently being worked on in the Foreign Affairs Ministry, together with the Defense Ministry, includes the establishment of a PA state - even without the consent of the Palestinian Authority.

Prime Minister Olmert has flip-flopped in the past on another Disengagement. One of the original champions of the unilateral withdrawal from Gush Katif and northern Shomron, he led the Kadima Party to victory in last year's national election on a platform of unilateral withdrawal from Yesha.

Comments: Israel plans on disengagement from Judea and Samaria and even if the Palestinians do not agree. This includes a Palestinian state “even without the consent of the Palestinian Authority”.  It doesn’t really make much sense but what Israel is saying to the PA is…we will withdraw from the West Bank and we will give you what we give you but no more than what we decide.

Because the Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministries are preparing a plan for disengagement, sooner or later this plan will become a reality. This disengagement will be nastier than the Gaza withdrawal because there will be thousands of Jews forced out of their homes and many will refuse to leave. Judea and Samaria is the Biblical heartland of Israel and this is where the majority of the settlers live. Already the plan to pull them up out of their land is being prepared.

The world leaders are pressuring Israel to give up their land for the sake of peace but we know that this will be a time of false peace for the Jews. When the disengagement begins, this will be the most dangerous time period the Jews will ever face since they have been a nation. Only after Jesus returns will they never be uprooted again.

Am 9:14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

15 And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.

Invisible 'Radio' Tattoos Could Identify Soldiers

Somark Innovations announced biocompatible RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) ink, which can be used to tattoo cattle and laboratory rats and can be read through animal hair.

It might even be used on humans eventually.

This is a passive RFID technology that contains no metals; the tattoos themselves can be colored or invisible.

Comments: Well, here is the proof that in the future kingdom of the anti-christ, one does not run around with a big old “666” tattooed in black on their forehead or hand.  With this announcement, gone are the silly visions of a highly visible mark, boldly displayed for all to see.

This type of technology is subtly gaining acceptance (even two of my three dogs are “chipped”). However, this is quite different from a microchip containing basic identification. This system will be used to track people, starting with soldiers in need of help. I encourage everyone to read this article in full.

Skeptics beware…

Pay up or we'll dig up relatives’ graves

Source: CanWest News Service

January 19, 2007 -- Gary Blake says he is not impressed with an ultimatum from the managers of a church-owned Aylmer, Quebec cemetery where several generations of his relatives are at their final repose: Pay up or we'll dig up their graves.

In 1892 that Blake's great-grandfather, William Blake, paid $10 for a burial plot at Saint Paul Cemetery in Aylmer, northwest of Ottawa.

The immigrant from Cork, Ireland, expected it would be his family's permanent resting place, presumably believing his heirs would face no more cemetery bills after he bought the 12- by 14-foot burial plot beside Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church.

But last week his great-grandson in Ottawa received a final notice from Les Jardins du Souvenirs, a non-profit cemetery corporation owned by Gatineau Roman Catholic Archbishop Roger Ebacher, threatening to "repossess" the plot.

The notice said the cemetery corporation could dispose of the headstones and grave contents in "any manner it considers appropriate" at the family's expense unless the Blakes pay $1,694 to renew a 99-year lease by Feb. 9.

"We don't understand, because the original bill of sale says the plot was purchased for $10 and doesn't mention any lease. If the fee isn't paid by Feb. 9, maybe they will dispose of the urns, monuments, caskets and everything."

Les Jardins du Souvenir director Roger Gagnon admitted that the letter sent to Blake was "a little rude."

He added that the cemetery corporation is not likely to get out the shovels any time soon. He said if the plot was not renewed it would be used when needed for new burials, perhaps in 50 years.

Gagnon said the headstones could eventually be stored and the bodies buried deeper so new graves closer to the surface can be leased to people who are willing to pay.

Comments:  Money, filthy lucre that it is, is once again a point of contention here.  You would think the wealthiest institution in the world, the Roman Catholic Church (RCC), would honor a deal.  I always thought a deal is a deal no matter what.  Maintenance costs for the burial plots to be borne by the surviving relatives?  Would Bill Gates be in an uproar if Windows Vista is priced at $199.99 rather than $209.99?  Let the RCC maintain the cemetery by selling precious gems from its bottomless vault, a storehouse of riches that would make Fort Knox look like a small convenience store in comparison to Wal‑Mart.

We know the RCC is renowned for its excesses and indulgences.  The ordinary church adherent is literally and spiritually enslaved for life.  Babies must be baptized by the sprinkling of water, sins need to be confessed to a priest in private, prayers to the Virgin Mary and to the saints have to be recited, Mass is to be attended ever so regularly, penance is to be done, money is required to be paid to the parish in order for the dead to be released from the fires of purgatory, etc.  Throughout a person’s lifetime from the moment of birth to the grave, large sums of money get transferred to the already overflowing coffers of the RCC.  And what does all this money accord a person?  A place in Heaven?  No.  If the RCC’s doctrine of faith plus works is believed, that person is in Hell today waiting for the day when he/she will be cast into the Lake of Fire.

For the saved believer, death is the portal into the afterlife.  He may be lying in an open casket being viewed and wept for by relatives and friends, but that’s no longer the person named Sam lying there.  The real Sam (his soul and spirit) is either in Hell or with Jesus.  After cremation or after decades of decomposition inside the coffin, Sam’s ashes are like all the dirt surrounding the urn or casket.  The headstone really ought to read “Loved and saved by Jesus” instead of “Sam F. Davis, born May 3, 1890, deceased July 8, 1941, beloved husband of Mildred G. (née Houde).  May your soul rest in peace due to your many wonderful works done for the Catholic Church.  For the Christian surviving relatives, let the dead do with the dead whatever they like (Matthew 8:[22]).

Hillary Clinton toughens Iraq stance: Wants cap on troops, but more in Afghanistan

Source: Canadian Press

January 19, 2007 -- Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, widely expected to run for president in 2008, said Wednesday the United States should cap American forces in Iraq and send extra soldiers to Afghanistan instead.

Clinton, criticized for failing to articulate a tough position on Iraq, intensified her stand the same day a group of senators agreed on a resolution opposing President George W. Bush's decision to send 21,500 more troops to the war-ravaged country.

And she made the leap a day after Illinois Senator Barack Obama, a vocal critic of the war from the start, dominated the airwaves by saying he's all but in the Democratic race.

"Our priorities are upside down," said Clinton, who just returned from a trip to both countries and urged a buildup in Afghanistan in a letter to new Secretary of Defence Bob Gates.

"We need to change course."

Comments:   Ms. Clinton may be a Democrat, but she’s more of a centrist than an extreme left wing liberal.  When her husband Bill was president for 8 years, he got America involved (although reluctantly) in NATO’s military excursions in Serbia and Bosnia to liberate the oppressed from the cruel murderer Slobodan Milosevic, the butcher of Belgrade.  Ms. Clinton knows full well that America just can’t simply pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan like it did in Hanoi, South Viet Nam, lock, stock and barrel just ahead of the fast advancing Viet Congs.  Withdrawal must be done in stages and only when the local governments and military are sufficiently strengthened, otherwise, the insurgent rebels will make short work of the unpopular U.S. backed puppet regimes and then the U.S. may have to reinvade.  Unlike her rival, the relatively green behind the ears Barack Obama who made unrealistic promises, Ms. Clinton wants to show her Democrat Party members that she’s more level headed and experienced in foreign affairs.  Sure, this middle of the road stance may cause her some votes and possibly the 2008 Democrat Party nominee for president, but she’s savvy enough to know that she’s playing a well worn card of trying to please both moderate Democrats and some Republicans.

The 2008 Democrat Party nominee for president is for Ms. Clinton to lose.  She has well heeled advisors directing her every political move.  Of course, ultimately she makes the final decisions say the press media.  Don’t believe them for a moment!  Politicians are swayed by Satan one way or another.  This is his world, his political arena.  He’s the puppeteer and he controls the strings.  Obama and Ms. Clinton are there just along for the ride toward Satan’s One World Government.  Matthew 4:[8] Again, the Devil taketh him (Jesus) up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them.  1 John 5: … the whole world lieth in wickedness.

Barna: House churches on the rise, but 'not for everybody'

Source: crosswalk.com

January 20, 2007 -- A Christian researcher who monitors trends in American Christendom says house churches will continue to grow in popularity in the United States -- and that those attending the independent, non-denominational gatherings are significantly more satisfied with their overall experience than those who attend conventional churches.

The Barna Group survey of 2,008 house churches looked at several aspects of the growing "house church" trend in the United States. For example, two-thirds of house church attenders were "completely satisfied" with the leadership of their church, compared to only half of those attending a conventional church. Three out of five adults attending a house church were "completely satisfied" with the level of community and personal connectedness they experience, compared to only two out of five adults who are involved in a conventional church.

According to Barna, there are advantages to house churches -- among them, the opportunity to delve more deeply into the Bible. "In talking with people who have been in both [house and conventional churches], one of the things that we found is that people in house churches say there is the opportunity to focus more deeply on Scripture," he observes.

In addition to those in house churches just receiving sermons or hearing lectures, they also have opportunity to discuss spiritual issues and previous study assignments with people they are getting to know more intimately. As Barna notes, "There's a whole different dynamic to the activity there."

As far as disadvantages, Barna said it is harder for house church members to escape potential conflict with other members. Also, the survey found that many of those regularly attending a house church also attend a conventional church.

In summary, the Christian culture watcher observes that one of the deterrents to house church growth is spiritual complacency. Most people, he says, are not looking to "upgrade" their spiritual experience.

Comments:  Yes, we don’t simply go to church. We are the Church because Jesus saved us with His precious blood.  And no, you don’t need a pastor trained in a seminary to lead your home church.  The Apostles Peter and John were uneducated fishermen and they were mightily used of Jesus.  The Holy Spirit will lead us to the Truth that’s found in the Holy Bible.  A humble heart subject to being taught by the Holy Spirit is the only prerequisite needed for a brother in Christ to feed God’s little flock.  As long as there are two or three believers in that home, they can partake in the breaking of bread and the drinking from the cup in remembrance of Jesus until He comes.  It’s so simple yet so magnificently godly in precept.  It’s no wonder people who are in home churches love it so much.

Adding to the growing popularity is that many traditional churchgoers have become disillusioned with many of the Seeker Sensitive and Emergent churches.  No longer being spiritually fed from the Word, they’ve made their cases before their ministers and pastors and were shown the door.  It seems that no matter where they look, it’s either the Seeker Sensitive or Emergent Church genre.  They prayed about it and lo and behold, they saw notices on their supermarket bulletin boards about home churches.  They phoned the listed numbers and met with the families and experienced a few weeks of Heaven on Earth as they immersed themselves once again in fruitful Bible reading/study, small group prayer sessions and remembering the Lord on Sunday.  God is blessing them abundantly.  In essence, they’re the remnant that God has always raised up in days of spiritual darkness and compromise.  The traditional churches are running after doctrines of demons, forsaking solid Biblical teachings in favor of ear tickling self esteem spiritual junk food. True believers want cream, not skim milk.  Matthew 7:[7] Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Lutheran pastor's trial revives clergy debate

Source: YAHOO NEWS!

January 20, 2007 -- A gay Lutheran pastor who announced a year ago that he had a steady relationship with another man will face disciplinary proceedings for violating church rules banning sex outside marriage.

The Rev. Bradley Schmeling of St. John's, Atlanta's oldest Lutheran church, will face a disciplinary hearing Friday structured much like a trial, where a committee of 12 members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will decide whether he can remain an ordained minister in the church.

Schmeling and his supporters say they hope his case will lead to changes in those rules, making the church more accepting of relationships involving its gay pastors.

Comments:   First off, if the Bible is used as the document of determination, it’s a slam dunk shot: Adultery means the minister is removed from his leadership position.  Just because his adultery also involved the sin of homosexuality means he was doubly judged by God’s Word.  There ought to be no more hearings or debates.   Put simply, Bradley Schmeling should not be preaching/teaching from the pulpit nor should he draw a minister’s salary.  End of case.

Sadly though, like other mainline liberal Protestant church denominations these days, there will be hotly contested debates whether Bradley Schmeling, a gay man, can continue looking after the congregation.  Much ado will be made that the Lutheran Church is about practising the love of God and not about this church leader lying in bed with another man nor the fact he committed adultery against his feminine wife.  The committee of 12 members ought to stress the adultery aspect of his sins and not be drawn in by Schmeling and his many supporters that he is being discriminated due to his sexual orientation.  A precedence has already been set by other mainline liberal Protestant church denominations so this Lutheran Church is fighting a losing battle akin to a spawning salmon attempting to swim upstream.  The flood of evil is unrelentingly sweeping all across Christendom.  May God help all of us!  Isaiah 59:[19] So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

Liberal Democrats using religion to push their agenda

Source: The Sierra Times

January 21, 2007 -- Former Vice President Al Gore scours the countryside looking for support for a possible presidential run and attempts to emulate bible-thumping preachers while preaching a message of the need for "big government" to save the planet. Meanwhile, Gore hobnobs with the Hollywood elite many of whom wouldn't know a Bible from a Cecil B. DeMille script for the movie "Samson and Delilah."

Senator Hillary Clinton, who's husband used a Bible as a prop during his impeachment days, hires a consultant in order to find a way to "get over on evangelicals" without changing her positions on killing unborn children and changing the definition of marriage.

Democrat Party strategists hold brainstorming meetings in order to find the means to hoodwink Christian voters without forsaking their socialist beliefs and plans.

On Wednesday, January 17, The Church Report revealed that a group of Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh leaders have a new “faith agenda” that they will hold the 110th Congress to. This new agenda will shift the emphasis away from opposing abortion and “same-sex marriage” to issues liberal denominations and interfaith groups are associated with, according to the Church Report's Jennifer Morehouse.

The lobby Faith in Public Life and other interfaith groups are advocating increasing the minimum wage, economic and social justice in regard to immigration reform, ending the war in Iraq, and “creation care,” a euphemism for child care.

Paul Sherry, national coordinator of the “Let Justice Roll Living Wage Campaign,” said most Americans are "morally outraged" by low pay. The organization lobbied successfully for minimum wage increases in several states, according to Morehouse's report.

Comments:  Poor deluded deceived earth dwellers, liberal Democrats and interfaith proponents are.  Completely hoodwinked by the Devil’s promise of a Heaven on Earth without God and without any consequences of sins.  Let’s all pull together, Christians and other faiths/religions to cure this sick planet of its ills.  We’re all that we have; life in outer space seems remote.

Of course, if the Christian votes weren’t sizeable, humanists like Al Gore and Hillary Clinton would not give one hoot about reaching out to Christians.  If what Bana Group said is correct, there might be upwards of 30 million Christians in America.  In a lose vote like the one the U.S. experienced on November 4, 2000 in which gave Al Gore recurring nightmares, George W. Bush’s wooing of the Christian votes no doubt won him the White House in the Florida vote recount of January 2001.  If Jesus removed all true Christians via the Rapture event, what you have left in America will be liberal Democrats and unsaved Republicans who only prescribed to conservative values only because they’re the bedrock of the GOP.  They could be more liberal than even the Democrats, but because of expediency, they shrouded their real viewpoints by adopting the party that they believe would give them the best chance of getting a cushy office and associated perks in the U.S. Congress.  Their real agenda are about saving planet Earth, improve social conditions, cure diseases, raise wages for the common folks, and bring about a uniform society ahead of culmination of the One World Government.  The ordinary Earth citizen is indeed brainwashed and sadly, many Christians have stopped listening to and obeying God and have joined the world’s parade heralding a coming New Age of enlightenment.

Baptists divided over female professors teaching men

Source: Associated Press

January 21, 2007 -- A group of Southern Baptists are divided over a seminary's decision to dismiss a female faculty member because officials there believe women should not be allowed to teach men in theology programs.

Sheri Klouda received her doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and was hired for a tenure-track position in 2002 teaching Hebrew in the theology school. But in 2004, she was told she would not get tenure and should look for another job, a series of events confirmed by Van McClain, chairman of the Southwestern trustees.

Southwestern is taking the "traditional, confessional and biblical position" that women should not teach men in theology or biblical languages, McClain said. That position is based on a Biblical verse in which the Apostle Paul says, "I permit no woman to teach or have authority over a man."

Klouda's hiring, McClain said, was a "momentary lax of the parameters" of the seminary.

An Oklahoma pastor who has emerged as a vocal critic of the seminary complained that the school treated Klouda unfairly.

"Sheri Klouda is not a pastor, she has not been ordained or licensed, she does not perform ministerial duties. She is a professor, for heaven's sake," Wade Burleson said. "The same institution that conferred her degree and hired her has now removed her for gender. To me, that is a very serious, ethical, moral breach."

Comments:  Either the Apostle Paul was correct or he was wrong, in which case the Holy Spirit was in error and that can’t be.  There are no in between positions.  Yes, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary ought to have made it clear from the very beginning that female graduates aren’t permitted to get a tenured position teaching theology to male students.  That way, no woman will waste $50,000 or so in tuition over 4 years trying to get a degree with the intention of becoming a theology professor.  Also, by hiring her on a contract basis that gave her the impression she was working toward an eventual job for life.  A member of the ACLU armed with a high priced legal beagle would be quick to contact Ms. Klouda and make a strong case for gender discrimination.  This is just the kind of lightning rod the liberals are always on the lookout for; any opportunity to denigrate Christians and their apparent hypocrisy.

The concept of egalitarianism is like a firestorm these days in the church denominations.  It’s the “anything a man can do, a woman can do also”.  Gender distinction is being blurred and should anyone dare bar a woman from the pulpit or from teaching in seminaries, watch out for a heavyweight lawsuit.  To Ms. Klouda’s credit, she hasn’t made a big issue of her rejection by Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, but you never know.  She might get spiteful and angry due to the Seminary’s misrepresentation and being fueled by the dissenting Baptist Pastor Wade Burleson.  Depending on the statute of limitation period, she could still take her case to court.  Of course, in God’s court, it’s a black and white issue; no woman ought to teach in the churches and that includes seminaries.  But, you ask: What about Jan Markell, who hosts a Christian radio ministry and from time to time, teaches Biblical concepts to men, women and children from the podium at Bible prophecy conferences.  You don’t see Dr. David R. Reagan, Joseph Farah, Hal Lindsey, T.A. McMahon and Dave Hunt kicking up a fuss, do you?  To that, I’ll just say “We’ll just have to leave it with the Lord.”
